🌟Superstar 🌟
Dear Boo,
I've always wanted to be a part of a girl group that sings and dances. Like BlackPink, Twice, Little Mix etc. Mostly because I love dancing and want to be a role model. But there's two problems with that.
(1) My mom doesn't like the girly things, so I'm afraid she'll laugh and think it's dumb.
(2) I can't give a presentation to my eight classmates without shaking or studdering. I even get nervous with things like this, even though I am anonymous.
Sincerely,
Karen*

♥Dear Karen*,
Thank you for writing to me, Karen. Because I know that this makes you nervous, so it is a step toward your fears.
I think your dream of wanting to be a singer and dancer in a girl group is amazing. Many young girls look up to artists so you would be a role model to them. I have a feeling you WILL be a positive role model for young ladies.
Do not give up on this dream! You can achieve anything that you set your mind to wanting. Women today can be anything they want to be in the world. They are astronauts, they're surgeons, singers, dancers and even politicians.
Do this for you, not your mom. If she loves you, she will support you. Do you have friends who enjoy this as well? If so, get together, write a song and start your dream. Writing a song is like writing a story - a poem. It comes from your heart. Nothing you dream about and want to achieve is stupid. Don't ever let anyone tell you that. If you dream it and want it big enough, you can achieve it. Every dream is possible. All it takes is dedication, hard work and the attitude that you will not give up.
As for your nervousness, shaking and stuttering...Try breathing exercises. Take your time and speak. I used to get nervous and studder occasionally. But then I realized..I don't care what people think about me. Their opinion about me doesn't change how I feel about myself. Practice in front of a mirror daily. Speak to yourself, recite a poem, read a page from a book or homework you're reading. Anything!
Have you saw The Notebook? Most people have, so I assume yes. Noah had a shuddering problem, remember? His dad had him read Walt Whitman poems until it went away. Try that, Walt Whitman is a wonderful poet. Robert Frost is another great one. I love him. Begin doing this in front of a mirror, then with people you are close to. You care about what people think of you. This is the reason you become nervous. You're afraid of someone's reaction.
Honey, let me tell you something. At the end of the day the only opinion about yourself that matters is yours alone. How you feel and think about yourself is how you will appear to others. We must accept ourselves before other people can accept this. If you are a confident and have that 'I don't care what you think about me', attitude, you will find that others opinions (the negative ones) won't matter.
I will add a video at the end of this, I want you to watch it. Nobody believed in this woman because of the way she looks until she opened her mouth. Susan Boyle is a name that nobody will forget on Britains Got Talent. The first time I heard it honestly, I had the same reaction. I was like, 'there's no way that this lady is gonna come out here and sing this well' - until she opened her mouth and blew me away. Thing is, don't judge a book by its cover, she achieved her dream and so can you.
Remember honey, Rome wasn't built in a day. It will take time to achieve your dream, but no matter what, do NOT give up! You can do this. I have faith and trust in you, so you already have your first fan. You got this!!!

♥ As always, thank you for writing to Dear Boo. ♥
