Yo,

It's been bout' a month now. Yesterday, I went to Tasty Freeze with the guys. They had to drag me out of the house. After Bob's death, I've hardly been talking to em'. I guess they are "worried." Well, Eugene is at least. I saw the redhead Greaser (Now blonde?) that Bob and the others almost drowned. He was with that devil Two-Bit. Two-Bit noticed us and said "You know the rules. No jazz before the rumble." I responded with "I know." Then I asked if I could talk to the red-blonde kid. The kid looked at Two-Bit and he just shrugged. I took him to my car and we sat there for a while silent. I started up the conversation telling him how I read about him in the paper. We talked about the burning of the church and how he saved those kids. He said that I might have saved those kids too. I doubt it... Then I told him I wasn't going to go to the rumble that night. (I didn't I just drove out of town and told the guys that I had "plans.") I told him bout' how great Bob was. I told him how Bob always wanted someone to tell him no... (I kinda wish I told him no in the car. Bob's more important than my rep.) I continued on how sick I was bout' the rumbles and how "Socs" always win. It ain't fair. I continued to tell him how I was planning on running away from the rumble. He told me it would do me no good. I already know that but it's better than running away saying nothin', getting marked as a chicken for not showing up to a rumble. (And trust me they didn't call me chicken when they thought I had "plans".) He told me he would help me if he could. I simply told him "No, you wouldn't. I'm a Soc. You get a little money and the whole world hates you." He quickly responded with "No, you hate the world." I looked at him and he finally got out of the car. He said "You'd would have saved those kids if you had been there. You'd have saved them the same as we did." I responded with "Thanks, grease." I tried to grin but it was hard after telling someone all your personal feelings. You kinda feel like you need to let all the tears come out ya know? He said his name was Ponyboy and he walked over to Two-Bit's car. I realized then that "Greasers" are just as human as "Socs."
