life went on but it was never the same again for theodore. after aurelia left him, his grandparents pleaded him to marry flora carrow, a pureblood. theodore agreed without another thought. after four years of being together, they decided to part ways, claiming that things weren't working out.

.     .    .    . 

on venus' fourth birthday, she had discovered few letters her father hid from her. few of them had the sentences like dear aurelia, i miss you while some had dear golden, you're so brave. 

but what caught her eyes was a letter adressed to her. though she never brought it up to her father. 

dear darling venus, 

the very first thing i want to tell you is that i love you and will always keep loving you. promise me you'll remember that. it's torturing how a world where you exist, my love no longer would. but that doesn't changes the love i have for you. i love you so much. 

i know it must hurt to loose a loved one. trust me nobody knows it better than me but you need to be strong baby. you are, believe in yourself. love hurts but it's a beautiful feeling. don't go around crying over the same thing over and over again when you feel like you won't be able to laugh again. the truth is, you will ; you will laugh and smile again. 

that's when you'll realise how beautiful life is. 

take care of yourself and your father.

𝗢𝗖𝗧𝗢𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟯,𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟮

the sun shone brightly in the sky, scattering it's sunshine on the dancing flowers in the back garden of the nott manor. venus gazed dreamily at the beautiful weather through the window in her room. with the back of her sleeve, she wiped away the frost away to have a better look when she was scooped away in her father's arms.

"happy birthday little one." theodore smiled, placing a kiss on venus' forehead who had a large smile on her face.

"thank you dad." venus giggled, wrapping her arms around theodore's neck as he carried her to the bathroom,"but dad, i am four now. i'm no longer a little one."

"even when you turn seventeen, you are still gonna be my little one." theodore stated, handing the toothbrush to venus before setting her down on her feet.

"okay but i can get ready on my own." venus asserted, broadening her chest to show that she was proud of herself.

"fine." theodore smiled,"get ready and come down stairs."

venus gave a thumbs up and theodore took it as a cue to leave. done with bathing , venus pulled out pair of denim jeans and a long sleeved white shirt to go with it. barefoot, she ran down stairs to the living room where sat theodore nott sr. with a copy of quibbler in his hand. on hearing the light footsteps, he looked up from the newspaper and smiled at the sight of his grand daughter running down the stairs.

"good morning grandpa." she greeted brightly once she reached him. smiling a little wider, the old man kept the quibbler aside and embraced the little girl in a hug.

"happy birthday honey." he wished, stroking her shoulder-length brown hair.

"thank you grandpa." she grinned. pulling away from the hug, she ran into to the kitchen to have some chocolates.

"no!!!" theodore screeched when he saw her running out of the kitchen with a bunch of chocolate frogs in her hand. venus let out a laugh and plopped on the couch besides her grandfather.

"venus you just had chocolates last night." theodore frowned, crossing his arms across his chest.

"dad it's my birthday." venus pouted.

"doesn't matters if it's your birthday." theodore stated flatly.

"dad! please!" venus whined, holding the chocolates away while theodore tried to snatch them away.

"let her eat theo." sr. theodore nott spoke up causing venus to smirk victoriously at her father who had a large frown resting on his face. 

𝗦𝗘𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗘𝗥 𝟭,𝟮𝟬𝟬𝟵

"are you ready?" theodore asked, exhaling a breath he didn't realise he was holding for too long as he glanced at his daughter standing next to him. venus gripped the trolley tighter and looked around at the muggles catching up with the train.

"yes dad." she nodded coming out of her trance,"now all you've got to do is run through the wall like i told you-"

"you can't be serious!" venus exclaimed frantically, staring at her father in disbelief.

"dear, that's how you get to hogwarts." theodore said, flashing a small smile. venus sighed and gave a curt nod, interlacing her fingers with theodore's while pushing the trolley with the other free hand.

"i just hope it doesn't disrupts my pretty face." venus muttered under her breath and ran towards the wall. she waited for the wall to hit her but was certainly surprised when she felt herself passing through the wall. her excitement jumped to a higher level on reaching the platform 9 3/4 where a magnificent train stood in front of her waiting for students to board it.

"woah." venus laughed, glancing at her father who had a large grin on his face,"wicked."

"look, you're fine." theodore shrugged.

"so this is it." venus said , her smile fading away.

"yeah." theodore's heart sank.

"i'll miss you dad." venus sniffled, engulfed in a hug by theodore who was trying hard not to end up crying.

"i'll miss you too little one." venus smiled at the nickname,"but it's gonna be worth it. you're going to meet new people which means new friends. you're going to be sorted in a house you deserve and that would be your family. you're gonna love it." venus just hummed, not letting go of theodore,"just remember what i told you and you'll be good. i hope you remember."

venus chuckled lightly before pulling away,"yes dad, i remember."

"and what that might be?" theodore proceeded to ask.

"stay away from boys cause they are nasty."

"except-"

"edward teddy lupin because you think he's a really nice boy."

"good." theodore smiled stupidly. venus took a deep breath before she turned away to get on the train. she stopped and glanced at her father.

"dad." she said, tugging on the sleeves of his shirt. theodore gave her a questioning look and leaned down to her level when she gestured to.

"dad, just don't go smoking around when you miss mum." venus whispered. theodore had to refrain himself for sobbing. he lowered his eyes, feeling embarrassed by the fact that venus had to request him.

"i'll try." theodore's voice was barely above a whisper and he doubted if venus heard it.

"i love you dad." venus whispered, tears again flowing down her cheeks.

"i love you more." theodore smiled, immediately pulling her in a hug.

"hi venus, the crybaby."

the father-daughter duo pulled away from the hug and looked on their right to find edward teddy lupin smirking at them while his grandmother followed him.

"hello mr.nott." he politely greeted theodore who gave a nod of acknowledgement.

"what did you just call me?" venus glared at teddy who replaced his smile with a smirk.

"teddy." andromeda sternly said.

"now off you two go and just don't kill each other." theodore chuckled at the end, knowing that the two didn't get along with each other. venus nodded and got on the train with teddy following him.

"ew, don't follow me edward." theodore heard venus complain causing him to shake his head in disappointment. 

𝗝𝗨𝗟𝗬 𝟯𝟭,𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟯

the peaceful environment covering the whole nott manor in it's embrace was about to be disturbed as fourteen year old venus ran downstairs, her blue sneakers slapping the floor with every step she took. hoping to find her father in the living room, she rushed towards the hallway which led to the grand living room only to find her father's father sitting on the couch while going through a copy of quibbler. 

"good morning grandpa." venus greeted, standing next to him to look at what he was reading. it was about the publisher of quibbler, xenophilus lovegood. 

"morning vee." the old man greeted, reaching to ruffle her hair but stopped when venus took a step back. 

"no not today." the brunette giggled,"i spent two fu-" the old man gave her a warning look causing her to stop abruptly before she corrected her sentence,"two hours to do my hair. sorry." theodore nott sr. just nodded with a smile of acknowledgement,"anyway, where's dad?"

"still asleep i guess." 

without another word, venus rushed upstairs to her father's bedroom and knocked on the door for quite a few times but got no response. pushing the door open she walked inside to find theodore sleeping peacefully but venus knew he wasn't sleeping. there's no way that he could be sleeping on july 31st.

venus stifled back a laugh and stood near the edge of the bed, staring at her father's 'pretending-to-be-asleep' face. 

"i know you're awake dad." venus couldn't hold back her laughter anymore causing theodore to let out a groan before it turned into a smile. 

"how did you know?" theodore laughed, sitting up straight. 

"come on dad. i know you can never be sleeping when it's mum's birthday." venus smiled sadly before retrieving a photograph of aurelia from under the pillow which made theodore's eyebrow shoot up in surprise,"tada. i knew it."

"wicked." theodore commented, awkwardly scratching the back of his neck. 

"you're not fifteen anymore. so stop blushing and get ready." venus scolded, keeping the photo frame on the side table before turning to face her father,"uncle harold won't like it. be quick dad."

"fine. fine." theodore groaned, getting up on his feet and walked inside the bathroom earning a giggle from venus who went down stairs to make some breakfast. she settled on making some pancakes as she was in no mood to burn the kitchen that day. 

"grandpa." yelled venus from the kitchen, settling the plates on the dining table,"dad! breakfast is ready."

"you could have waited for me vee." theodore complained entering the kitchen. 

"i just wanted to cook." venus shrugged, serving the pancakes before pouring a little chocolate syrup on top of it. 

"oh it smells nice." 

"thanks grandpa." venus smiled, sliding in the chair next to theodore.

 after they were done with breakfast, venus kissed a goodbye to his grandfather and walked out of the manor with theodore leading the way. venus felt overly excited as harry had agreed to give her a treat but on only one condition. 

if she's able to reach diagon alley at sharp seven in the morning. harry knew how much venus loved sleeping. 

once she was snapped out of her thoughts from the pressure applied on her body during apparition, she waved at harry who was waiting for them near the ice cream shop. 

"uncle harold!" venus grinned, letting go of her grip on theodore's arm and ran up to harry who immediately engulfed her in a hug,"happy birthday!"

"it's harry but oh well, thank you." harry chuckled, pulling away,"and you came!"

"no it's harold and yeah."

"it's harry."

"harold."

"harry."

"harold, harold, harold-"

"no-hey no."

"will you two stop your bickering?" theodore scolded, shaking hands with harry who had an embarrassed expression on his face,"happy birthday harry."

"why are you so annoying?" harry groaned,"i don't remember aura having that big mouth? you probably got it from your father."

"why,thank you." venus stuck her tongue out. 

"so which flavor do you want?" harry questioned, looking at venus who was dreamily gazing at the different flavors. 

"chocolate please." venus smiled at the ice cream man.

after they were done with ice creams, venus pleaded harry to visit their home as she has some surprise for him which turned out to be a cake. 

"merlin! you could have just wrote harry." harry complained when he saw the words happy birthday mum and uncle haz on the cake. 

"i don't like harry. haz sounds nice." venus smiled, earning chuckles from her father and grandfather,"now come on, blow the candles!"

and so harry did, one for his sister and one for himself. 

theodore smiled, thinking how he would be much happier if she was present there next to him.
