"I knew I joked about this before but now I don't think it's such a good idea to meet your mom" JJ told her while they were pulling into the driveway.

It had been two weeks since they started dating, and Lolla had never felt happier. They spent every day together, swimming, partying, smoking, kissing, all the things that teenage couples do.

JJ brought out the adventurous, risk taking side of Lolla. It was almost as if she couldn't keep her smile off her face while she was with him.

And surprisingly, JJ had managed to keep Lolla clean from hard drugs, even though he didn't know he was doing it.

"Relax you will be fine" she said unbuckling her seatbelt. "Your lucky you don't have to meet dad though" she joked, in which JJ didn't laugh since he knew it was a sensitive topic for her.

Lolla had shared some stuff about her family, mostly about her brother but has briefly mentioned what happened with her father. She didn't feel like getting into detail, especially because of what happened with Rafe.

JJ held onto Lolla while she woke up crying from a nightmare about her dad, that's when he knew, Lolla was just like him.

"Besides, we are just eating lunch, it's not the end of the world" she said looking at him but he was zoned out. "Hey look at me" she said while slightly turning his face around to face her. "My mom will love you you don't even have to worry. How about when we finish we go back to your house?" she asked.

"That sounds good" he said smiling at her, he couldn't believe how easily she could calm him down.

"Now come on let's go in, we don't want to make her wait, she is really impatient" she said and quickly kissed him before exiting the car.

She held his hand as they walked through the door, trying everything to calm him down. "Mom we're home!" Lolla screamed so that she could be heard through the corridors. "Mom?" she yelled again.

They walked through the house trying to find her and JJ was left speechless. He had been in Lollas house before but every time it stunned him to see how rich she was. He couldn't admit it but he was really insecure since he started dating her.

The richest girl on the island, dating someone who was commonly called trash.

Lolla didn't care though, she never cared about status or money, mostly because she had felt how it was to be in a place where you could barely afford food.

When they spotted her, she was sitting outside, near the table that JJ assumed they would be eating at, considering how all the plates were placed on it already.

When Penelope heard them walk in she turned around immediately, excited to meet her daughters boyfriend.

"Hello there!" She said excitedly while standing up from the couch.

The first thing JJ noticed about her, is how she carried herself. Penelope was wearing a long tight fitting floral dress, with matching gold jewelry. She didn't looked like she was wearing makeup, but her skin was shining.

If Lolla looks like that when she's her mothers age, JJ is in luck.

"Mom this is JJ, the guy I was telling you about"

"Well hello there JJ it is so nice to finally meet the person responsible for my daughter never being home. I've heard a lot about you" she said reaching her hand out

"All good things I hope" he joked while shaking her hand

"Only good things, Lolla could not stop talking about you when you brought her home like a week ago, she was staring to annoy me" Penelope said

"Oh really?"he asked and looked down at Lolla who was blushing.

"Mom stop telling him stuff like that you will boost his ego too much" Lolla said.

"Alright I'll stop" Penelope said while putting her hands up. "Are you guys not hungry? Come on lets sit" she said.

JJ and Lolla sat next to eachother and Penelope sat opposite of them. They were sitting on the outdoor table, next to the pool.

"So JJ, what's your last name?" Penelope asked curiously.

"Maybank miss" JJ replied, trying to be formal.

"Please, call me Penelope. Maybank? I knew your father back in the day" Penelope replied stiffly.

"Really? How did you know him?" JJ asked trying to make conversation.

"Oh back when we lived on the cut, he was a good friend of Lollas father, Noah. Your father would always come over and they would drink all the beer and eat all the food we had" she replied, recalling the bad memories.

JJ turned his head to look at Lolla at the mention of her father, and he noticed that she stuffed up immediately, like her whole mood changed.

"Well mom don't worry because JJ is the exact opposite of his father" Lolla reassured her, while placing her hand on top of his.

"I am sure of that" she said smiling at the boy, before taking another bite of her food.

Penelope and JJ continued to talk when Lollas phone started ringing. "Sorry I'll be right back" she said before walking away from the table.

When she was far enough so that the others couldn't hear her she answered the call, without checking on the Caller Id.

"Hello?"

"Why the fuck haven't you been answering me?" Rafe replied angrily.

"Oh I'm sorry but last time I checked you made my fucking hand bleed, now what do you want?" she replied, sharing his tone.

"I apologized for that, but that is besides the point."

"Yea sure, your apology wasn't that great to be honest, but keep telling yourself that"

"Lo you know I wouldn't do anything to hurt you, I was just high and mad, I won't ever forgive myself for it"

"Sure whatever what do you want I'm having lunch"

"I hope you didn't forget that your my dealer right?"

"Nope, haven't forgotten unfortunately" she replied and let out a deep sigh

"Okay because I haven't done coke in over a week because you have been to stubborn to answer your phone"

"Sounds like a you problem"

"I'm not playing games. I'm outside your house bring me the coke" he stiffly replied

"What Rafe-" she tried to reply before he hung up the phone.

Shit.

Lolla walked up to the table and told them that she had to use the bathroom before sneakily going up to her bedroom to get the coke. She opened the door and looked through her bedside table, when her window suddenly opened.

"Rafe what the fuck I was about to come down" she replied while giggling when he came in through the window.

"You were taking too long I got impatient" he said and took a seat on her bed, right next to her.

She handed him the plastic baggie, which he put in his pocket and he gave her the money.

"Rafe you can't be here right now"she worriedly said

"And why is that?"

"Because I'm having lunch right now."

"With who?" he curiously asked.

"My mom and JJ"

Rafes jaw stiffened when the name JJ escaped Lollas lips.

"Why the fuck is that pogue here?" he angrily asked

Lolla took a deep breath before replying, she knew Rafe was about to throw a fit.

"Because he's my boyfriend" she quickly said

Rafe stared at her in shock, complete and utter shock. He couldn't believe it. Did she really think that JJ was better then him? JJ didn't deserve her, he did.

"No fucking way" he replied loudly while standing up and rubbing his forehead with his hands.

Lolla just sat there, waiting for his reaction. She sat like a statue, she didn't move.

Rafe was walking around the room and whispering curse words that Lolla could barely hear.

"What about us?" Rafe asked

"You can't be serious"

"I'm dead serious"

"Did you forget about Mandy? Or maybe that you ghosted me for two weeks? Or even that you hurt me."

"That pogue doesn't deserve you. He doesn't know how to handle a girl like you. Come on Lo, you know we need to be together"

"How do I know that?" she replied while scoffing.

Rafe immediately walked forward, towering over her. "Lo I don't think you have processed this yet, but I need you. I need you in my life, I need you next to me. I wake up thinking about you, I go to sleep thinking about you. I can't stop thinking about you, why the fuck do you think I would be texting you and calling you all day. Please tell me you aren't actually dating him"

"I am Rafe" she replied.

"I'm gonna kill him" he said while walking towards the door.

Lolla sprinted in front of him and pushed him against the wall. "Rafe can you just stop? Maybe if you hadn't been a complete and total dick to me these past few weeks, then maybe it could have been you. But it's not and I want you to respect that"

Rafe stayed silent.

"You really hurt me Rafe, I couldn't get out of bed for days because of you, fuck I almost accidentally overdosed because of you" she said while tears stained her eyes.

"JJ is good for me. He never makes me sad or mad or angry, I need you to respect that I'm  dating him, because even though I should hate you, I don't want to lose you" She replied and gave him a hug.

"So what are we?" he asked, numbly.

Lolla knew what she wanted to reply, but for some reason she couldn't get the words out. It was as if her whole body was fighting against her to not say it. It took her a while to reply. Seconds, almost a whole minute of silence, just them staring at eachother.

"I think it's better we stay friends"

Rafe felt as if he had been stabbed through the heart with a knife. He physically felt the sadness sink into his chest when she said that.

"I have to go down, I'll see you around" she said before leaving the room, leaving him there.

Rafe just sat on her bed for a couple of minutes before he actually left. He couldn't believe what had just happened. He got rejected. Not only rejected overall, he got rejected by the girl of his dreams.

"What took you so long?" Penelope asked when Lolla returned to the table.

"Sorry I just got sick" she lied

"Are you okay now?" JJ worriedly asked.

The only thing she could think of is how she didn't deserve a guy like JJ.

"Yes I'm fine" she replied smiling up at him.
