Chapter 3
Dean Winchester just pulled up in the drive when he realized he only had 5 hours until he had to go to his next job. He sluggishly walked up the stairs hoping he could fall asleep as soon as his head hit the pillow. His heart dropped when he remembered he was supposed to go grocery shopping, he didn't eat at the house much, but he thought his new roommate, Castiel, might want some food in the refrigerator.
He sighed and walked back down the stairs, and realized he wouldn't be able to go in the house anyways because Castiel had the only key and he wasn't home yet.
Castiel pulled up just as Dean was opening the car door. "Hey Dean, you think you can help me bring in the grocery's, I kinda got a lot."
Dean was so relieved he wouldn't have to go to the store, he might actually be able to sleep before he had to go to the construction site. "You went food shopping? I was just going to do that" he walked over and started grabbing bags out of the car.
"I think this is the most food that's ever been in my house since Sammy lived here." He said bringing in the last bag. Dean stopped when he saw what Castiel had just put on the table, it was the most beautiful thing he had ever saw. "Pie", his eyes widened and he walked to the table, "You got apple pie." He grabbed a fork and opened the container. Just then a warning came on the radio, a huge snow storm was supposed to be blowing in. "son of a bitch", Dean threw the fork down, "C'mon, Cas, we've gotta chop wood, I completely forgot about it"
"Did you just call me Cas?" He was confused on if he told Dean to call him that, "Only my close friends back home called me that."
"Well you live with me, I'd say we're pretty close," Dean shrugged as they went outside to get fire wood prepared for the cold weekend. "Plus I didn't think you liked me calling you blue eyes."
"Either one is fine with me, I am used to Cas though", he said picking up the axe, "I'll chop if you'd like.
"Okay," Dean put a log on the tree stump for Cas to hit. He assumed Cas actually knew how, but he was wrong. Cas lifted the axe correctly, but he didn't pull it down right. Dean chuckled a little and Cas looked embarrassed.
"I thought I was doing it right? I mean I've never actually had to chop wood, but I assumed this was how." He walked up to Dean, handing him the axe.
"Watch and learn, Cas, watch and learn." Dean brought up the axe, and moved his hands so perfectly, the axe came down exactly in the middle, splitting the wood effortlessly. "Your turn," he handed the axe to Cas who seemed confused.
"I'm still not exactly sure on how to do it." he said walking to the stump.
"That's okay, I'll walk you through the process", Dean leaned up against a tree, "Okie dokie, so what you gonna do is, put you right hand closer to the axe part, and you left hand towards the end of the handle," He was demonstrating with an imaginary axe. "Okay, now when you bring it down, make sure you slide your right hand towards your left."
Cas did exactly as Dean told him, but he hit right next to the log, making it fall over. "What did I do wrong this time"
"You were looking in the wrong spot", Dean said crossing his arms.
"What do you mean?"
"You have to look exactly where you want the axe to go."
Cas did it one more time, this time looking directly at the middle of the log, It hit dead center and the axe went straight through it.
"There you go," Dean smiled big, "you keep practicing, practice makes perfect." It would have been faster if Dean did it, but he couldn't help watching Cas' muscles, and how his shirt lifted a little when he extended his arms. He liked how he could see that Cas's stomach was a lighter color than his arms. Dean couldn't help but wonder what the rest of Cas' body looked like.
They carried all the wood up to the house, and set it under the porch, so it wouldn't get wet by the weather. They walked inside and the house was so much warmer than it was outside. Castiel went into the kitchen to make dinner and Dean walked into his bedroom and packed a bowl. He walked into the kitchen to see how long he had till he had to go to work.
Cas saw what Dean had, but Cas was a good kid so he had no idea what it was. "What's that," He leaned over and looked at it.
Dean squinted his eyes a little, "You mean you don't know who Maryjane is?"
"I told you, I'm new to this town, I don't know anyone but you"
Dean couldn't help but laugh, "No Maryjane is another word for weed, You've never got high before?"
"No I've never partaken in those activities."
"You wanna get high with me, I've got two hours till I have to go to work", Dean gestured to the pipe.
"I-I don't know how, will it hurt me?", Cas wasn't sure if he wanted to do it, but he wanted to be with Dean more.
"Nah you'll be fine, and It's okay I'll show you how" Dean was excited to have someone to smoke with, it's always better when someone's having fun with you. "Honestly", he said taking a hit, "I'm jealous, the first times always the best." He passed the lighter and the pipe to Cas.
Cas looked at it weird, then did exactly what Dean did, he coughed a little as he blew the smoke out, it burned his throat a lot. "Really, why's that?"
Dean chuckled and took another hit, "Cuz, it's something you've never experienced before, it's just a totally new perspective on how you think, but the more you do it the more you get used to it", he handed it back to Cas who took one more hit, then got up to finish dinner. Dean stayed and smoked longer.
When he came inside, Cas was staring at the Mac N' Cheese box squinting. He looked at Dean then sat on the floor, still looking at the box. Dean started to laugh, which made Cas laugh even harder. Dean walked over to Cas and helped him up.
"You know what buddy, I think I'll make dinner tonight." Dean grabbed the box and put it back in the cupboard and grabbed out the Cereal. "I guess I'm so used to it, I never realized how strong it is."
Cas didn't say anything, he just got up and walked to dean. Dean put the cereal down. "You okay Cas", he said smiling. "Tell me what you're thinkin' man."
He got close to Dean, so close their noses almost touched. Dean couldn't help but stare at his lips, he glanced at Cas' eyes. He wanted to press into him hard, he wanted to see if Cas' lips were as soft as they looked, but he turned away because he knew Cas wasn't in the right mind. "Come one Cas, personal space," Dean swallowed hard, "So, you like Captain Crunch?", he said clearing his throat
Cas looked down at his feet then sat back down, "Yeah Captain Crunch is good", he sighed out.
Dean poured them both cereal and milk and just before he sat down to eat, his phone rang.
"Hello", dean said in a lower voice, "what? Are you fucking kidding me?" He put his head down then brought it back up quickly to talk again, "Okay well sorry you're a fucken idiot, yeah, right, right, fuck you too Gordon." Dean sighed and rested his head on his hand, "Well that killed my high real fast." he said taking a bite of his cereal.
"What happen?", Cas looked at Dean a little worried, "and who's Gordon?"
"They did drug tests at work and they all know I smoke, plus it's not illegal because I have my card for it, but Gordon's bitch ass said I was 'unable to carry out my work properly' if I was high, but I never came to work high, anyways I'm fired from my night job, looks like I got you just in time" Dean smiled and went out to smoke again, Cas followed.
"Do you mind if I try it again?" Cas said watching Dean take a hit.
"I don't know man, you took only one hit and you couldn't stand right" Dean chuckled a little.
"I could stand it was just weird, I was still thinking right."
Dean handed the pipe to cas and he lit it, was Cas trying to hint something to him? He thought about it over and over. When Cas was done they went inside again and turned on a movie Cas sat down while Dean put wood into the fireplace, the wood reminded him of Cas' muscles under his shirt and how much he wanted to see the rest of Cas. Dean sat on the same couch as Cas but on separate ends.
"What are we watching Angel eyes", Dean realized what he said and he hoped to God Cas didn't notice.
"I put in Back To The Future, I've never seen it and people are always talking about it so I figured I should give it a shot." Cas looked back at dean with his low red eyes and smiled, "You think you can get us food, I'm kinda in the mood for food."
"That my friend, is called the munchies" Dean got up and walked to the kitchen wondering if Cas didn't notice him calling him angel eyes or if he noticed, but didn't say anything. "Hey blue eyes, you wanna come in here and look for what you want, I don't know what you like."
Cas walked into the kitchen with a small frown, "What happened to angel eyes, I kinda liked that one better."
Dean could feel his face get hot as he just stared into Cas' eyes, with his mouth trying to find the right words but he was not able to answer.
Cas broke the silence, "anyways I was thinking, popcorn sounds good, or pop tarts, or anything really, you want me to make the popcorn, alright I'll make the pop tarts, wait no I'll make the popcorn." Cas started laughing hard at his mistake, Dean laughed too. Cas shook his head and laughed harder as he grabbed the food out of the cupboard.
"How about you go press play on the movie and I'll make the snacks"
"Okie dokie, but I'm gonna wait so the movie doesn't start without you." Cas smiled and walked out of the kitchen.
Dean put the popcorn in the microwave, and got out pop tarts, and soda. When the popcorn was done he poured it in a bowl and brought everything into the living room, but Cas wasn't in there. He decided to wait for Cas, so he just sat on the couch picking at the popcorn. When Cas came back out he was wearing pajama bottoms, no shirt, and he had a blanket. Cas turned off the light, pressed play and sat down on the couch this time closer to Dean.
Dean was too tired to see the difference and he drifted in and out of sleep while Castiel talked about anything and everything.
