Chapter 26 : Missing

It was late night when Khushi was back to home.

"Contract would be ready by tomorrow morning, Ma'am!" She was reading the message on her phone, as she rang the bell.

HP opened the door to a very tired Khushi. She had left in a hurry to avoid Arnav, without any breakfast and then some important tasks she had to accomplish, which didn't give her much time to eat except a few coffees.

"HP, bring dinner in my room!" She commanded while texting some last instructions to her lawyer.

She opened the door of Arnav's room subconsciously only to be interrupted by HP.

"Madamji I have shifted all your things in this room." He indicated towards the opposite room.

"I know. I have to talk to Arnav!" She lied to make up for her mistake.

"Arnav bhaiyya is not back, Madamji!"

That cautioned Khushi.

'Did he go to office on Sunday?' She thought. "What time has he gone?"

"Immediately after you!" HP answered, putting the dinner plate in her room.

Khushi was getting restless now as it was too late. She dialed to watchman office of G&R only to know that Arnav didn't come there.

'Where has he been?' She was getting worried. 'Doesn't he know Malik is behind him?'

She asked HP whether he ate something before going. 'He knew that he is diabetic then why he skipped breakfast!'

She decided to call Aman to know whereabouts of her husband but it was engaged.

"Haan bitwa, bahu has reached in the evening!" Madhumati said, while Aman breathed with relief.

Since morning he was hell worried about Lavanya. He had to track Mohan's number as Lavanya's phone was switched off. It disclosed her to be in Lucknow.

'She wants to give a chance to this marriage!' He had understood by her behaviour. 'Couldn't she tell me this clearly?' He had thought, only to realize that he had assumed everything without talking to her.

"Is Lavanyaji there? Actually her phone is switched off!" He wanted to talk to her.

"Arey she had gone to sleep. I'll tell her tomorrow to call you!"

He sighed. 'How can I forget that she is KKG's sister?'

._._._.

Khushi was still waiting for Arnav. But now it was inevitable to call him. After two missed calls he finally received it.

"What?" His voice was harsh.

"Why aren't you home yet?" She tried to keep her voice firm.

"Why do you care?"

His talks were irritating her, as she tried to find words to retort back.

"I need to discuss something important!" She patted herself for such a genius reply.

"I won't come tonight. Will see you in office tomorrow!" He cut the call without waiting for answer.

'What the...!' she stared at her phone. 'He could at least tell me where he is and with whom.' She was fuming. In last one month he was never out of home at night. 'Did he eat something?'

._._._.

"Was it Khushiji?" Anjali asked Arnav as he came back after the short call.

"No Di! It was my PA!" He lied to his sister while Shyam smirked at him.

After a satisfactory treatment to Neil Arnav had decided to visit his sister and brother-in-law.

They had not come to the party yesterday as his Di was not feeling well. Not in a mood of another emotional turmoil he had decided to stay there for night.

"How is your wound Chhote?"

"It's healed Di! Don't worry about me!" He smiled on her care, remembering about someone else who had also started to care for him.

'Sankadevi will never express it openly.'

Khushi changed her side to get some sleep. But it seemed she was not going to get any.

She had not touched her dinner, losing interest in anything after speaking to Arnav.

'Laad Governor!' she thought remembering his rude tone of talking.

Finally giving up she moved to Arnav's room. 'I am not used to the new room. This room is familiar for me.' She laid on the bed, but sleep was still miles away, missing someone badly.

._._._.

Aman reached the office next day with a dull face. The sleep on the bed was not a bit as comfortable as sleeping on the recliner since last month.

Neither had he liked the food which their cook, Patil had made.

"I don't know how Lavanya Bhabhi used to make your tea Bhaiyya! I always prepare it like this."

Aman had scolded the poor guy for the tasteless tea.

'She had changed my habits in one month and now even not talking to me!'

._._._.

"Patil Bhaiyya, is he eating properly?"

"Haan Bhabhi." Patil answered. "But come back soon, Bhaiyya is missing you, being very cranky!"

"Hmm. You don't tell him I have called ok?" Lavanya cut her secret call, 'I am also missing you my shy Saiyyan.' She was feeling bad for slapping him yesterday.

._._._.

'You will lose everyone with this move.' Her heart told her mind.

'No one is yours. This world is selfish.' His mind retorted.

"I have a proposal for you!" Khushi explained to Arnav as they sat in her cabin. She had seen him coming together with Shyam. 'So he was with his Di'.

Arnav was expecting her to be angry on him for his last night stunt. But she was cool as if nothing happened. 'She masks her feelings so easily.'

"AR Designs in exchange of G&R!" She continued as Arnav saw her with unfathomable expressions. "I want you to handover your all rights of G&R and you'll get majority shareholding of 'Malik&Sons', your Nanaji's company that Malik had encroached upon."

"How?" Arnav asked her, "What did you do?"

She had bought some shareholders of Malik&Sons in last three weeks. "Tit for tat!" Khushi said with a devilish smile.

"From where did you get the money!" To buy off Malik&Sons was not a small thing.

"I have taken loan!"

"Are you insane!" Arnav couldn't believe this.

Khushi sighed. It was not a big deal. It was like an investment.

"Don't worry about that. I want you to handover your shares to me and also the chairmanship in lieu of..."

"No need. Keep both the companies." Arnav knew that Khushi was capable. The stunt of Shashi was just a bait for her to marry him. "I will talk to jeejaji...." Arnav stood up as he was not interested in any of this business anymore.

"We are not done yet!" Khushi stopped him. AR Designs was a legacy of his grandfather and father. She didn't want his favour by getting it free.

"I want something else too!" She continued, "One month is over out of six months of our mandatory Married life" She took a breath, "I'll file divorce after five months and it may take one more month for the process." She was telling it as if she was talking business. "So that makes us married for six more months."

Arnav clenched his jaw on her irresponsible talks. "What makes you think that I will be ready for divorce!"

Khushi knew he wouldn't agree easily. 'I need to do it.' She gulped her anxiety.

"Because you won't like to hurt Aman by letting him know that your mother's shares were on his mother's name", She lowered her eyes not able to see him in eyes, "and you didn't let them use it when they needed it most!"

Arnav was stunned, 'How did she come to know?' Gupta Uncle had kept it secret.

"Papa didn't tell me but I found out about it." That's why she was not much surprised, when he had become the shareholder.

"Your Phuphaji died of Brain Tumor 10 years ago as your Buaji didn't have enough money for his surgery," Shashi was not aware of his illness, being out of India those days, leading to the death of Amar Mathur.

She continued, "Only if she had known...."

Arnav was trying hard to control himself. He was shocked, stunned, surprised but the limits had been crossed...

"I didn't know that you are so heartless to blackmail me with that!" Arnav punched the table between them. "I was wrong to think that you have changed." He was gritting his teeth, "Your manipulation may work on Aman or Lavanya but not me!" He was not going to budge.

"Then why do you want to keep married to such a heartless woman?" She screamed, "Give me back my company and freedom from this relationship." She controlled herself from crying.

"Sign this contract of six months and get over with it!"
