Chapter 2: T-Rex
"Let me get this straight, you threw two kids across the cafeteria?" My dad asked as he laughed himself into tears during dinner.
If you search my name, Tyreek Crews, my father will appear. Tyreek Crews, the Millennium HeavyWeight Champion, better known as The T-Rex. I am pretty sure my dad is the biggest man God ever created. Even after seventeen years his muscles are as hard as rocks. If it wasn't for his bright smile I am sure no one would approach us, since he has the height of a skyscraper, and his darker complexion is intimidating.
And, I am his junior. I am a splitting image of my father except that I do not smile, and I am like three inches shorter. Not smiling is a personal choice, while the height is not.
"We can't keep switching schools my dude." My father spoke a little more stern with me.
"Not a fan of me yeeting kids across the table pops." I asked sending my dad into another laughing fit.
"Well show your worth. I am sure the school will turn a blind eye from you tossing two kids if you win them a trophy."
"I know they will. Those guys were picking on another kid before me." I explained.
My dad's expression changed, his eyes harden. My dad doesn't get angry often but right now he was pretty pissed. It was interrogation time.
"How many guys?"
"Four."
"You stepped in right?"
"You told me not to get into fights."
"I told you not to pick fights."
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"I don't know, throw the other two across the table." My dad said laughing this time.
I guess I could next time. Those guys don't seem that smart. They also weren't that strong.
My dad went on with stories of the good old days. He talked about how he would rescue the weak, how he met my mother, how she would watch him protect the weaker kids and all that corny nonsense. For a woman I never met he sure speaks highly of her. Dad calls it love. He said that mom loved me so much that she traded her life so I can live.
That's bullshit. If she really loved dad she would have stayed.
"I don't want to talk about this." I interrupted my dad as he was losing himself in a story about mom.
"Well I do. Your mother was an angel."
"Is one. She is dead, dad."
"Ty, she did that for you."
I slammed my fist on the table so hard it knocked over my drink. "You act like I asked for that!" I yelled out.
My dad calmly stood up from the table and walked back into the kitchen. Mom this, and mom that. Talking about her is not going to bring her back. When my dad returned he came back with another glass of water and a towel.
"Well what do you want to talk about?" My dad asked me.
Nothing. I don't want to talk about nothing. I just want to sit in silence. Why is that such a bad thing?
My dad however, took my silence as an okay to tell another story about mom. This time it was how he earned the nickname of T-Rex. Of course mom gave it to him. I wish he would just shut up.
