Harley's New Look
Batman had managed to defeat Francis. He dropped Deadpool and Harleen off at the Xavier Institute. Harleen had dosed off. "I'm going to bring Joker back to Arkham," said Batman, "as for Francis, I'm going to ask a friend of mine to arrest him by the book. He'll get what's coming to him, Wade. Are you sure bringing Harleen here is a good idea?"
"Yeah," replied Deadpool, "some of the X-Men are doctors. Thanks for giving me a list of the chemicals that caused the skin and hair to be bleached."
"Thank you for doing things by the book," said Batman. "Wasn't easy," admitted Deadpool, "sorry I impaled Joker with my sword."
"Trust me, if it had been Selina or Diana, I would've done the same thing," admitted Batman, "after what he did to Barbara, I wanted to crush his neck with my bare hands..."
"And I thought Frank was violent," joked Wade. "Take care, Wade," said Batman as the hatch closed and then flew away. Wade then rushed to the school, carrying Harleen, and took her into the medical room. One of the X-Men, Jean Grey, AKA Marvel-Girl, AKA Phoenix, was able to help. "How is she, Jean?" asked Wade as he saw Harleen on the medical table. "The effects of the chemicals have permanently bleached her skin," informed Jean, "the knuckles on her right hand are bruised, and she's suffered a mild concussion. Other than that, you did a good job performing CPR to prevent suffocation from drowning in those chemicals, Wade. She's stable; she'll be fine."
"What if she doesn't end up fine?" asked Wade, "what if she snaps? Like me?"
"That I don't know," said Jean, "but my question for you is, will you be there for her when she rehabilitates?" Wade nodded, "Always..." Jean smiled and said, "Then I'm sure she'll be on a good road to recovery."
"Thanks Jean, I didn't know who else to turn to," said Deadpool as he looked at Harleen. Despite her new appearance, he still thought she was beautiful. "Of course," said Jean, "now let's take her to a more comfortable room." Harleen was moved to the more comfortable guest rooms, and was laid on a bed with pajamas. Batman had informed Arkham about what had happened to Harleen, and they were willing to give Harleen some much needed time off. As for Harleen, it took her several days for her to adjust to her new bleached look. One morning, she was at her home, hungover and on the couch, waking up. Her hair was in pigtails, and she was wearing a red tank top and black shorts. Her shoes were off also. Deadpool was with her, because she had invited him over.
She groaned from the hangover, waking up. "How you holding up?" he asked. "Now I know how you feel," she said quietly. Her voice was a little bit more squeaky and showed off more of her Brooklyn accent. There was silence for a few minutes "You don't look that bad to me," admitted Deadpool. She perked up. "Really?" she asked, curious. "Yeah," he said, "in fact, the bottom of your pigtails remind me of cotton candy and bubble gum." She thought about it and giggled. "Yeah, guess they do..." she said blushing. "You've got a cute laugh," said Wade, which made Harleen smile more. "I gotta admit, I always liked ya suit," she confessed. "Why's that?" asked Deadpool. "Red and black are my favorite colors," she admitted. "Can I admit something?" asked Deadpool. Harleen nodded and said, "As long as you call me Harley. I kinda like that name more than Harleen..."
"Well Harley," admitted Wade, "I don't know why, but when we met, I've had a bit of a crush on you. Maybe it was when you didn't see me as a monster when my mask was taken off. I developed feelings for you..." Harley blushed, remembering that time. "Wade," she said, "I know it's unprofessional of me since you were my patient, and maybe it's cuz I'm hungover, but would you ever love a freak like me?"
"You are not a freak, don't belive that shit!" Wade said offended, looking at her dead in the eyes, "You are beautiful to me Harley. You make me want to be a better man. And yes, I would love you, professionalism be damned." Harley gently took off his mask, looking into his eyes, feeling his face. She knew he wasn't lying. "Your crazy definitely matches my crazy," she said, smiling. "I think that's my line," said Wade. Harley giggled even more. "The real question is, did I save you, or did you save me, puddin'?" asked Harley. "We saved each other," said Wade as he stroked her hair. "I love you Wade Wilson," said Harley. "And I love you too, Harley Quinzel," said Wade as they then passionately kissed on the lips. Despite many bumps, Wade and Harley were willing to make their relationship work. After all, love makes you do crazy things. Nuff said!
