15 Dead or Alive?
POV Hiro
I stare at Jack, there he is just walking and barely wearing anything even though the ground is freezing. Freaking late December and he wears just that hoodie.
"Something wrong?" He asks all of a sudden.
"Nope, nothing," I replied quickly.
"Well it's too bad that we could only find this much," Jack sighed and lifted up the bag. We had found three food cans on our scavenging. I see as he wipes his face to his sleeve, his eyes have black circles around them. He has been awake a lot lately, seeing nightmares is something that has been happening to him a lot.
Then I saw the abandoned warehouse where we had been staying. We look around quickly and gladly we can't see a sign of those faster zombies, runners. Jack whistles but nothing happens. We're safe to move forward.
Jack opens up the door and the warmth escapes out into the chilly air in a cloud of smoke. We step in and the door creeks closed.
"Anna?" Jack called and I saw him placing his bag to floor. I took off my rifle and I place it to rest on the floor. Immediately I hear a familiar squeaking sound.
"Baymax!" I grinned. He came to us fast, wobbling all around. It was great that I managed to fix his armor months ago and add a solar panel on it so it works as his portable power supply too.
"Hiro! Jack! She is in delivery," Baymax spoke.
"Doing a delivery? I thought that FeedEx won't run during zombie outbreaks," Jack snorted and I elbowed him quickly. His eyes flash open.
"Baby?" Jack gulped out.
"YEAH THE FREAKING BABY!" I yelled.
"We're screwed," Jack mumbled. He was right, again we failed on finding someone who could help us out with Anna.
"Jack!" Anna shouted and then we heard her scream.
"If she keeps that noise up the zombies will hear us," Jack whispered. He had turn pale.
"Well go to help her?" I said quietly. Jack shook his head and begged me to go.
"I can give you all the information you need to help in child delivery," Baymax spoke.
"AGH! C'mon I know that you guys are in there! HEEEEELP!" Anna shouted.
It was nerve wrecking to go into the space where Anna was at. She was laying on the ground where we had placed blankets and such. We knew that her child birth was near which is why we decided to stay in this warehouse so she wouldn't have to do it outside in the cold. However we hoped that we could get someone else to actually help her out than we.
Baymax told us to get some water and Jack ran to get some. We heated it up over the bonfire that we had done into the stone floor. Anna was sobbing and hurting.
"I really don't want this to happen," Jack whispered.
"It's coming no matter if you want it or not! Just get down and help me!" Anna roared which made us flinch.
"You can take the baby out," Jack looks at me terrified and I shook my head.
"Why me?" Jack cried.
"She's your girlfriends sister!" I replied. Yeah, good argument. Way to go Hiro!
Anna was breathing faster and Jack reluctantly went between her feet. She had taken her pants out before our arrival. Jack's face was paler than before.
"Just for the record Hiro. I hate seeing blood so if I faint it's your turn," Jack muttered.
"But you kill zombies dude! There's nothing different!" I whined.
"ARE YOU GUYS SERIOUSLY COMPARING MY CHILD TO KILLING ZOMBIES?" Anna screamed and then winced from pain.
"Zombie's blood is jellified!" Jack replied with angry tone.
"Oh god I see the head," Jack whispered with his voice shaking.
"ALREADY?" I scremed.
"You — ngh—two idiots were gone for h-hours!" Anna replied fiercely and grabbed onto my hand. She let out a scream and squeezed my hand tightly.
"Oh no it's coming out," Jack gulped out and I saw him shaking.
"No fainting!" I told to Jack quickly and Anna's breath fastened.
"STOP PUSHING!" Jack said in panic as Anna screamed and squeezed my hand again.
"Womans pushes are needed so the baby will come out. Then you cut the cord and clean up the infant, wrapping it to something warm," Baymax explained.
"BUT I'm NOT ready!" Jack was breathing as heavily as Anna.
"One more and the baby will be out Anna," Baymax said calmly.
As Anna screamed in pain again, squeezing my hand so firmly that I was sure that my bones would fracture. That's when Jack started gasping, " NO ANNA! Just take it back in! Hold it in for few more months! PLEASE!" Jack was panicking.
Then Anna's grip loosened and Jack went quiet.
"Well done Anna," Baymax told to Anna.
Jack was doing something in the silence, I was too afraid to take a look but I saw him heating his blade under the bonfire and then going back to Anna.
"W-why isn't my child crying?" Anna whispered. Her forehead was sweaty.
"Sshh.. Anna... I'm trying," Jack almost cried aloud. All the fear in his eyes had now turned into desperation and he was clearly trying something.
"Baymax, don't let Anna come after me," Jack said quietly as he stood up. He ran to the opposite side of the hall, holding something. I run after him and I hear Anna's cries, how she wants to see her baby right now.
"Jack! What are you doing?" I whisper yelled as I got to him.
He was shaking his head, his eyes were watering. "It isn't breathing!" Jack said as he held the baby boy of Anna's. He sat down to floor and he lifted the baby's face close to his ear.
"Is the baby breathing?" I asked as I watched the tiny little thing in Jacks hands.
"No," he replied quickly. I saw him then blowing some air to babys mouth, then he placed his two fingers over the baby's chest and thrusts five times. He repeated those steps while tears streamed down on his face.
A loud cry broke the ghostly like quietness inside the warehouse. Jack started laughing as he watched the crying baby boy. I gave him a towel which he used to clean up the infant, then he wrapped the little one into a towel.
We returned to Anna who was crying her eyes out. She lifted her head up when she heard the baby's cries.
"My baby is alright?" Anna whispered and Jack nodded his head while handing the baby to Anna.
"Thank you," Anna whispered and hushed the baby. "He looks like Kristoff," Anna laughed a bit and then started to feed the baby. I turn my back to the sight like Jack did.
"Good job Frost," I whispered as we went to get our bags.
"Thanks. Now... L-let me take some r-rest," he whispered as he collapsed to the floor. He was whining a bit while he layed on the ground unconscious.
"Dude!" I gulped out as I turned him around. His eyes opened up slowly and he had this faint smile.
"I guess that I'm sort of uncle now," Jack laughed a bit.
"You are really messed up now" I chuckled and patted his cheek.
"I want a child too," Jack whispered and closed his eyes. He was sleeping now.
I heard some steps and I notice Anna coming to us. "Wow, I'm glad that he stayed conscious during birth," she whispered.
"Yeah, he practically saved baby of yours," I replied with a smile.
"Did he? Oh, then I'll name my boy Kristian Jack," Anna laughed.
"Wow! Well, now he seems to want a kid. It was the last thing he said," I chuckled.
"Good, now we just need to find Elsa for him," Anna grinned deviously and I flinched.
"You seriously want him to knock up your sister?" I gulped and she nodded her head.
"Kristian needs a cousin and besides, I want to be an aunt. Besides Jack is a good man, he just saved my son." Anna said gently as she threw a blanket over Jack. She was holding sleeping Kristian on her arms.
"I think that I will go for another run outside. Get you something extra to eat because, well, you're feeding him and such. Baymax told me that fresh mother's need lots of things to eat!" I cheered as I go to the door.
"You shouldn't go out alone," Anna said quickly.
"We're safe, there are no runners and I can outsmart the regular stupid and slow zombies," I laughed.
"Still it's dangerous," Anna sighed.
"You're just being like a mom," I laughed as I took my rifle and bag. I went outside.
This time I will check the road ahead instead going back to the way where we came from. We had scavenged the village back there empty. Maybe there's something in the other way?
The weather was a bit chilly and my breath steamed in the cold air. I lift up the collar of my jacket and I rub my hands so they would get warmer.
Who knew that Scotland could be this cold after the extremely hot summer that lasted long to Autumn? Well maybe this will balance up the heat, coldness.
I paused on my steps as I was sure that I had heard something. I turn around but I see nothing. Then I went on with my way and finally I saw the edges of a small town where we yet have not visited.
"Dunbroch?" I read a sign and I shrugged. Funny coincidence I guess. Anna told me that her friends name is Merida Dunbroch.
I go into a pharmacy at first but it was already cleaned from all the goods. Next trip was to a food store. If I'm lucky I might find a can filled with peaches. Girls love fruits... and some go crazy over chocolate even.
When I open up the door I hear the steps again. They're getting louder and louder. Until the point that I knew that it came from behind me. That's when I turned around.
The runner let out a fierce scream and I barely managed to lift my rifle up. It was now the only thing between me and the runner. It's eyes were flesh hungry, it was letting out this snapping sounds as it tried to get a bite from me.
"Oh crap!" I groaned as I was being pressed against the wall. For my horror I saw that zombies eyes narrowing, then looking around. It was figuring out something.
Then it let go and backed up a bit. It yelled and I heard sounds around me. The familiar groan of a zombie but this time from a pack. My hand reached to the stores door handle but then the runner heard me. It rushed towards me again and I managed to dodge it. I start to run and I heard it running behind me. Dodging the stupid zombies was hard as they were grabbing onto me.
I was pushed to the cold ground and I turn around to lay on my back. I keep on kicking these savages that try to eat me alive. Then the runner came, throwing the lower zombies away.
I point my gun at the runner and I fire, it dodged the hit and grabbed the rifle, throwing it away. Now I was open and I felt it's hands on my stomach. The images of my stomach being ripped apart filled my mind and I felt terrified.
WROOM WROOM.
A loud sound of motorbike reached me. I saw the headlights and how the lower zombies left towards the sound. Then the gunfire started and I notice how the runner's attention got towards the sudden noise.
I used the opportunity and I push the runner away from me. I grab my rifle and I shoot at its head as it was still stunned from the hit that I gave it.
Slowly I stood up with my body still aching. I see how one by one the zombies were getting killed. Then I saw the motorbike and a figure standing close to it.
When the zombies were wiped out I heard a familiar voice. "Hiro!" She called me and started running. I'm just staring at her, she's taking her helmet off and dropping it to ground.
Then her body hit against mine into one tight hug, I wrap my arms around her. "Where have you been?" GoGo said quietly.
"Around," I mumbled as I rubbed her back. She's here.
Then she let go and stares into my eyes. Her hardened outside seems bit different from the last time that I saw her. "Are you the only one left?" She asked.
"Baymax, Jack and Anna are at a warehouse down the road. Anna had her baby today so I went to get some food for her," I replied while still being stunned to see her here.
"They are alive?" GoGo laughed happily."Our friends are on Merida's house. She's from this town. I just went to find more survivors into their camp and look who I bump into!" She laughed and wiped her eyes.
"It has been quite long, huh?" I managed to say.
"Too long! Like half year since the boat crashed," she sighed.
"I'm sure that Anna will be happy to see her husband and Jack for seeing Elsa. He has been having these nightmares you know," I laughed a bit. This is awkward.
"Elsa is gone," GoGo said sadly. It was like her strong appearance had left her.
"What do you mean gone?" I asked.
"She was taken, kidnapped," GoGo explained. She told me what had happened, how she had been looking for survivors these past months on her motorbike and trying to locate Elsa. I felt bad for her, she's been through a lot and the amount of guilt she is feeling.
"I'm so sorry," I whispered after her explaining and I gave her another hug. She didn't resist, not trying to back up. It was like I was dealing with whole another GoGo.
"Yeah, well... I will get you guys a transport from the camp. See you soon in here? I'll give you a lift when I have a car," GoGo smiled faintly and gave a kiss on my cheek.
"Sounds like a plan," I replied. I watch as she climbs to her bike and drives off after telling me to be safe.
I'm left alone and I go into the pharmacy. I remain there waiting. So she found most of our group during the months but only Elsa is missing. Maybe the things that Jack is seeing in his nightmares have actually happened? Maybe his worst fear of Elsa's death has happened? What if I've told him all these months that Elsa would be fine and safe, and then she isn't?
POV Punzie
It's cute to see Anna with the baby and how happy Kristoff is. However it was hard to get Jack calm down when he had realized that Elsa was taken months ago, by Pitch.
Jack was about to left running from the camp, to find her right now. GoGo was able to come back to his senses. They would work together to bring Elsa back.
Now Jack was just throwing his knife at a tree, just three days from their arrival to the camp. He had barely slept at all and he was looking rather scary.
"Jack?" I asked carefully as he was pulling out his knife from the tree.
"Yup?" He asked blankly. Yesterday he was out from the camp, searching the areas with GoGo. They returned with nothing.
"Honey Lemon and I need more of your blood. For the antidote?" I said. He sighed and came to me. His eyes had this emotionless stare.
"Sure," he whispered and walked beside me. We went to hospital tent and Honey Lemon had the equipment out and ready. She carefully injected a needle on Jack's arm and got his blood sample. I tied up his needle wound.
"So how's it going? Treating people in the hospital?" Jack asked from me. He was smiling faintly.
"Well I love to do this," I smiled back and then he stood up.
"Yo, Frost boy!" One of Merida's brothers yelled. Jack turned around to face him. I'm not sure if it was Hamish or Harris or even Hubert. They all look quite the same.
"What is it?" Jack asked. I heard no signs of enthusiasm in him.
"Someone contacted us through radio. They wanted to speak with you," Merida's brother told. Jack and I went to follow him.
I watch as Jack sits behind the communication device.
"Jack Frost speaking," he said to the radio. Then I heard familiar voices.
"JACK!" Toothiana cheered. "Nice to hear you pal!" Jim Hawkins laughed. I glance at Jack.
"Yup,good to hear from you too," Jack replied. He had left some information about his whereabouts as a recording that was beaconing into different radio channel in hope of that his Guardian friends would hear him. It was Hiccup's idea.
"Jack, we heard that you're in Scotland?" North spoke.
"That's right. Sorry not contacting sooner. My radio had broken when the ship crashed and now, six months later, you had transported to another base," Jack told them.
"Good, good. How are your friends? You managed to get them out?" North asked.
"Yes we are fine!" I cheered to radio and then Jack sighed.
"Yeah they are fine even though Elsa is lost," Jack said quietly. Then there was this awkward silence.
"You will find her!" Toothiana broke the silence.
"Thanks Tooth," Jack smiled faintly but I saw the large amount of stress coming from him.
"You can try to search her while you go out on your mission," North spoke.
"What mission?" Jack sighed and rubbed his temples.
"You need to be in charge of clearing out Scotland from those dead beings. Kill each one you see. I've heard about the mutation, now there's no time to waste!" North spoke quickly.
"BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ANTIDOTE!" I screamed and Jack startled while staring at me.
"Listen," it was Jasmine speaking. "You haven't find the solution to this new mutation? Have you? Those things that seem to thing and run. Jack was infected by the regular zombie, same goes with Elsa. That's why your tests are failing constantly. I think it's impossible unless you find someone who was infected by Runner and has overcome the virus," Jasmine spoke. It made sense actually.
I groaned. "Okay, I get the point. So go on Jack, murder those people," I spat out.
"They are not people anymore," Jack said as he stood up. "I'll get on it," he said without emotion.
"NEITHER ARE YOU!" I shouted as he turned off the radio. He stares at me.
"What do you mean Punz?" He asked.
"You just shoot them every day! You don't even get affected anymore of destroying them! They used to be people, Anna told me that you had to kill a family that had turned. Now you just blast little kids heads off like it's nothing!" I yelled at him.
"They are not people anymore," Jack replied and left.
I follow him, ready to punch some sense into him with my frying pan. Then I saw him, he had crouched down. And smiling. He was ruffling Jamie's hair and chatting with Sophie. It turned out that Jamie and Sophie were his relatives. They had come here from Australia with Jack's aunt who was their mother. Jack's sister Emma had been living with them, the deciding to stay in Australia and not join for holiday. Emma had been lucky.
These kids had lost their parents, like Jack and Emma had when they were young. Emma got a place with their aunt and Jack had to live in foster homes when he was growing up.
Maybe Jack still has feelings deep inside? At least he seems warm around those kids. He threw ball to Jamie before going. And once he had turned his back, I saw his expression darkening again, how his smile disappeared.
Jack took his sniper rifle and the staff with blade on G-end with him. He had become a killing machine.
"Gosh I hope that you find Elsa soon," I whispered as I watched Jack going alone. He might be lost soon, lost to darkness and despair.
