12 Triple Arrows
POV Punzie
“Not to complain or anything but… how long do we have to keep walking?” Wasabi mumbled.
“As long as we need to,”I replied to him. We had just circled around a city. It was being taken by the dead. Going through it would have been a really bad idea over all.
There has still been no sign of our friends. We have no idea where Elsa, Jack, Merida, Hiccup and the rest are going. I barely know where we are, actually I don’t know anything else besides the fact that ocean is somewhere behind of us.
Staying off road was the safest option as well as avoiding the crowded places. Cities, towns and busy roads were unsafe, that we learned the hard way on our journey in USA. This time we’re smarter as we know our enemy.
“Shh… something is moving,” Flynn hushed us and pointed towards a large sized rock. We quickly sneaked behind it, Toothless was against my leg as we waited. Something was indeed moving right behind the rock.Something that was dragging it’s feet on the leaves that had dropped from the trees. The hot and dry weather had made the leaves to dry up and fall from the trees. This seems to be a really hot summer.
The smell was awful, it reminded me from the time when I was a child.I went to play outside and then I found a road kill, it had worms crawling on the rotten flesh. That day I puked because the smell was disgusting and now, well, I’m not that easily shaken anymore.
Then they came out of their hiding. Their hungry blurry looking eyes were looking around. I notice how Wasabi gets his invention out, some sort of lazer blade. Flynn pushes Wasabi’s hand down, to signal him to wait.
One by one the herd passes us and we let out a sigh of relief.
“Wow that was close!” Fred cheered. We came out of our hideout when it was safe.
Everyone knows the feeling when something feels a bit off, like something is not right. Now I had the feeling. We all tensed up as we heard some fast steps, coming closer and companied with loud groan.
My eyes widened as I saw one of them running towards us. Honey Lemon screamed as the creature, vulgar and horrid, jumped at her. She didn’t have time to use her chemistry balls at the thing.. The thing that runs.
“GET IT OFF!” Honey Lemon screamed as she pushed the creature from it’s chest. Then it snapped it’s jaws together which made us realize what was going on. I took my frying pan that I had gotten from the fishing cabinet few days ago. I swung it at the girl whose face was all pale, her eyes were mindless but unlike the other creatures that resembled her in their grave like state, she moved fast. And she hunted us. I really hate these!
“Don’t touch her!” I shouted as I slammed it again with the pan. Then Wasabi aided me, his lazer blade cut it’s head in half. The golden brown locks of the zombie that once was a young girl, they fell to ground next to it’s lifeless body.
“Since when they have run!” Flynn gulped and I shook my head while I crouch down.
“I don’t know but I think that I should examine the remains. Mind helping me?” I asked.
“No way honey. I’m not touching at it,” Flynn gulped and I rolled my eyes at him. Quickly I reached to my belt, to pull my knife out.
I heard gasps and other voices of disgust when I started to cut it open. This doesn’t worry me anymore, to be able to do something like this. It’s like we’ve come the monsters now.
“W-well?” Honey Lemon gulped.
“It seems like the other creatures. However it still has strength in the muscles.. and.. the brains, they are not so spoiled. M-maybe these can think?” I mumbled.
“That’s absurd. They’re dead!” Wasabi laughed.
“But just think. While the herd left, this one remained. It was like it waited for us to appear!” I assured them.
“Wow!! Cool, zombies that can think!” Fred laughed and we stare at him. “Umm… sorry?” Fred chuckled.
“Mmm.. that could make sense but we need a proper laboratory to test on that theory,” Wasabi hummed.
“Yes! Exactly what I was thinking! Perhaps we could find a way to stop this but.. uh,” I sighed.
“But?” Wasabi raised his eyebrow.
“Jack and Elsa. They were infected to the first virus but it mutated in their blood. They don’t spread the virus and they won it. Their blood was the cure but now the virus has alterated. So maybe, IF we use their blood and some samples that we can collect. Then we could do another vaccine or antidote!” I cheered.
“One problem. Jack and Elsa are somewhere and we don’t have laboratory,” Flynn sighed.
“Let’s find them and a lab?” Honey Lemon grinned. We look at each other, slowly we are finding our path to follow. Our goal will be mutual, to find our friends.
And the cure.
POV Hiccup
GoGo was driving, we lost the tracks of Elsa’s abductors two days ago. These kids that joined us, Sophie and Jamie, this kind of environment was taking a toll. So, only thing that we could do was to get them to some sort of safety.
I glance at Merida, she has finally fallen asleep. The fact that we were slowly approaching her home in Scotland had been keeping her awake. She said that she was just anxious to know how her family is doing. She had told me that her father is some army’s chief while her mother is a stay at home mother.
“We’re running low on gas,” GoGo sighed.
“Just keep driving,” I whispered. “Let’s let them sleep as long as possible,” I hummed.
I’m sure that what really kept Merida awake was her being afraid that her family would be gone. That would be horrible, she’s brave but I don’t know how she’ll take it.
A sign saying ‘DunBroch residence’ passes us.
“I guess that we’re now in her land,” GoGo said quietly and I look around. We’re driving through a field area. She was from a rich family which I found out later on.
Then we hit on something and the car bounced a bit.
“What was that?” I gasped out.
“Umm.. look ahead,” GoGo whispered. I look straight ahead, the road is crowded by the dead things.
“Where the heck they came from?” I groaned. Then GoGo pointed at a small mini bus that had crashed into a small pond. I rolled my eyes, it figures.
My eyes widen as the car stopped.
“Why did you stop? Back up!” I hissed silently. Merida flinched in her dreams.
“I didn’t! Told you that we’re running out of gas!” GoGo yelled as she turned around. Then the things started coming towards the car.
“W-what?” Merida gulped while being still a bit sleepy. The kids woke up beside her.
“RUN!” GoGO yelled and pushed the door open.
“Honey, we’re surrounded by flesh hungry beasts in some field area in your familys estates. Oh and we need to run,” I grinned and gave her a kiss on cheek when I reached to her on the back. Then I jumped out from the front seat.
Merida got the kids out.
“Oh! We’re almost at our gate. Just 50 feet forward!” Merida cheered and I saw her shooting an arrow through one zombie’s head. The children were hiding behind her.
“Yeah and like 50 of them in between us and the gate!” GoGo shouted angrily.
“Technically 48 since you drove over one and Mer shot one with arrow --- wait --- make it 47,” I laughed as I slammed my knife into ones skull.
“C’mon Soph and Jamie. Time to go to meet my family?” Merida smiled to the kids, messing their hair.
Merida was the first one to move forward. Kids were in the middle as we formed a protective barrier around them. We moved forward, no matter what. Stopping would get us killed.
“You’ll be a perfect mother one day,” I teased Merida.
“Shut up Hiccup,” Merida hissed and shot one zombie. I used my flaming sword to cut one in half from it’s waist line.
“Seriously!” I chuckled.
“Seriously I’m gonna shoot you with an arrow if you don’t stop.. and I’m running out of arrows,” Merida whispered angrily.
“I’m running out of bullets!” GoGo gulped out.
“And these flames are turning off,” I said quietly. Then the flame went off and I heard how GoGo’s bullet case clicked when it was empty.
“I’m out!” Merida yelled as she tried to take another arrow from her arrow case.
“Uh.. RUN!” I yelled and I see how they all started to run. GoGo was holding Jamie’s hand and Merida lifted Sophie to carry. And me? Well, running with artificial leg isn’t easy. It’s quite hard.
My shoulder was grabbed by one. Just five feet before the gate. I decided to face the enemy and I started slamming my blade inside their heads.
“It’s locked!” I heard GoGo panting behind me. I was fighting against a herd of 15. We managed to wipe out most of the beasts but some remained.
“HICCUP!” Merida screamed as she had noticed my situation. I was being surrounded by them.
“Don’t come here! Just climb over the gate while I..uh.. am here!” I yelled back. I couldn’t see them.
Then, just when I was about to be bit from my shoulder, I notice how the dead creature falls to ground. An arrow sticks from it’s head.
“Mer! You said that you’re out of arrows!” I cheered.
One by one the zombies were pierced by arrows. I noticed something odd, it was like there were many arrows flying through air simultaneously.
When the last zombie fell to ground I lift my face back up. Merida is running towards me, she jumps to my neck and I hug her tightly as I bury my face into her hair.
“Mer? Who is this guy?” I heard a voice asking.
Merida let go of me and I’m staring at three guys. Each one had fiery red hair like Merida had, with the same frizzly look but shorter than she had. The guys crossed their arms over their chest. All of them wore green army suits.
“Hiccup, meet my brothers. Hamish, Hubert and Harris,” Merida smiled.
All brother’s looked the same. They were the sixteen year old brothers of Merida. All well built looking and athletic like she was. They were much taller than I was.
“Hey,” I smiled and gave them my hand.
“Are you dating our sister?” One brother asked as he swung his bow to his elbow.
“Y-yeah?” I gulped and I look at Merida quickly.
“Fine. Well, let’s get inside the gate. You guys are lucky that we were out hunting in the area,” one brother sighed.
“And with our big sister!” One of them laughed and grabbed Merida into tight hug. She was trying to squirm herself free.
“Let go Hubert!” Merida growled and the brother dropped her down.
They let us inside the gates. Jamie and Sophie were holding Merida’s hands as we were walking towards a big mansion.
“So are mom and dad alright?” Merida asked.
“Yeah? Why wouldn’t they be?” one of the brothers asked.
“Geez.. because of those things. Are you stupid Harris?” Hubert laughed aloud and he guy named Harris rolled his eyes.
“We all were anxiously waiting you to get back home Mer.. but.. let’s see how they take the fact that you’re dating,” Hamish laughed.
“Dad will probably be your new best friend and mom will plan your wedding,” Hubert grinned and came to punch my shoulder. It hurt.
“Ehe he.. nice,” I laughed nervously.
“Sorry… Sometimes I just hate them,” Merida sighed.
“Merida?” Sophie’s soft voice spoke.
“Y-yes?” Merida said, being surprised that Sophie started speaking.
“Are we safe now?” Sophie whispered.
“Of course you are sweetie,” Hamish chuckled and picked up a small flower which he gave to the little girl. She smiled a bit which was good to see.
“Hiccup,” GoGo whispered to me once she had sneaked to walk closer to me.
“Yeah?” I replied quietly.
“I’m going to go after Elsa… If they have a motorbike or something like that… I can’t abandon her,” she sounded like she had been thinking this for a while.
“Sure but we’re going to help. She’s our friend too after all,” I smiled as I patted her shoulder.
POV Elsa
The hay was scratching against my skin. The only light source was coming from behind the wall boards, from narrow gaps. I could see the dust dancing on the light.
My hands are aching, they had tied up my hands with heavy metal shackles. Slowly I stood up, my steps tremble as even my legs feel sore. It felt good to have the warmth of the sun against my cheek and I close my eyes. I ignore the sounds which my roommate is making.
Suddenly the double doors of the barn slam open and my eyes flash open, only to close again as the light hurts my eyes. I see Pitch walking in, holding a water bottle. I glance at the zombie that has been tied into the other side of the pen. At first the thing prevented me from sleeping, all nights I’m hearing how it tries to break its shackles and reach me. But now, after few days of imprisonment, I could care less. The exhaustion is too much to handle.
“So how’s the Queen of Ice?” Pitch said in a teasingful tone that disgusted me. I turn my head away and refuse to respond. Soon I hear him breathing heavily and how the pen door opens.
He is in the pen with me and my zombie friend. Pitch walks straight in front of me and kneels down. “Aww.. how long is the pretty little thing going to refuse to cooperate? It would be a shame if you decide to just go with water again.. I mean… I have food.. you could just say yes?” He started to laugh at the end.
”NO! I’ll never go to bed with you or join your sick group!” I shouted at him. Right on the moment when I would agree to his terms I would be dead.
“Pitch. You should just rape the bitch,” I heard Hans speaking. He had found Pitch in USA, joined him. Then they had boarded to same ship that we had. Then they found me.
“Nah, I just like to play with my prey for little longer… Either way her body will be mine,” Pitch chuckled and slowly stood up. He opened up the water bottle and took a sip.
“Thirsty?” He grinned. I shook my head, ignoring how my lips are cracking from the dryness.
“Yes you are,” Pitch whispered and he took another sip, this time bigger. He crouched down, leaning towards me. I crawled backwards until my back hit the wall. He used the situation to his advantage, grabbing my neck and slamming his mouth against mine. He burst the water that he had been apparently holding in his, to my mouth. He forced me to drink it.
I coughed when he parted from my lips. He had evil grin, my body was shaking and I tried my best not to cry. The shackles of the zombie were clinking on the background.
“T-that’s disgusting!” I gulped out.
“Glad that you like it. Because I’m going to give you so much more soon,” he laughed. “Here, the rest of the water,” he hummed and threw the open water bottle to my lap. Some of the water splashed on my clothes but gladly the bottled didn’t fall.
Then Pitch left with Hans. The darkness came back as they closed up the doors. I was left alone with the creature that they use to break my willpower.
My stomach growled which was the reminder of the another thing that they try to use to break me. The hunger was almost unbearable.
Quickly I drank some of the water, saving the rest and placing the bottle next to the other bottles that were already empty. Then I lay back on the hay pile. My eyes get closed and the sound of the zombie is wearing off.
Memories rush to my mind, I try to live inside them and ignore this awful place. The memories that I shared with my sister and then there’s him.
Stay strong.
That’s what his voice is whispering inside my head.
“I will Jack, I will,” I replied to him quietly as I pictured him next to me.
