The Lost Diary of Bethany Green

Dedicated to: that_writing_gurl, Because she did spark my interest into this.

19/7/1998

I am Bethany Green. A 16 year old girl, sorry, I just. . . You see this is my first time writing a diary, so I don't have a name for it and neither am I going to because It's just a Diary, all you've to do is write about your life. Ah! That brings me to the topic, My Life.

Well, to be honest, I have lived a perfectly normal one. I mean until I fell down and twisted my ankle and fractured my left elbow, I don't know. I just can't write about that horrible incident. I can't even describe it in words, but if directors like Spielberg and Christopher Nolan ( If he is interested in Horror ) want a good plot for their movies, you bet they'll accept this one. Because it is just like that, too dramatic and supernatural. To real to be true. But as they say, it is what it is.

See, again I am diverted from my topic, so again I start. I am 16 year old girl living in Mordle town. I live with my mother, Abigail and father, Edward Green. I love tending to dogs, even if they are on the streets, I just love their soft and cosy fur against my hands and neck. I like to paint rather than draw, although they are both interconnected but doesn't matter. Like every natural person, I have a mischievous side in which I like to pretend to be deaf. You know that's actually a little neat trick to brush off those ugly guys which try to get every possible excuse to talk to me. It's just so uhhhh. . .

20/7/1998

Mordle is a quiet town with occasional festivals and some programmes which are organised by the new mayor. Mordle is more or less divided into two or rather three parts ( the third part is sometimes not even considered as part of Mordle ). There is no rule based division or it's nothing to do with anyone or anything. It's just divided.

Now the first Mordle is called Mordle Farms, where you'll see all those lush green farms growing excellent crops. There are fields and fields in which you can play almost any game. Most of the farmers and their families like to live there. They often bring out these cooking festivals where they would put these stalls and serve you all sorts of dishes ranging from meaty chicken to fresh salad.

Then comes Mordle New, this is where I live. It's a sort of well-built area you can say. Because it's got these new roads and houses and then comes the shopping centres and on and on. We still crave for a mall but I think it'll take much time for that. The reason for this division in Mordle Farms and Mordle New is simple. Only We, Mordle New have two roads which connect to the outside world. I don't know much about tourism, never paid attention.

Then comes, Mordle Grey. It wasn't actually a separate part but there was this fire cause by electricity which burnt down that place. Actually Mordle Grey is actually the part via which you can reach Mordle Farms, It's a sort of pre-developed farm. But after the fire, nobody took shelter there. And it's still a kind of creepy part of the town.

Now that I have explained you the map of Mordle let me draw you closer to the incident. It started from the cold winds of October. . .

22/7/1998

Sorry, that was a break in there. I started having my concussions and my head still aches because of the bandages in my neck, doctor Kliper says it's something to do with you nerves and muscles. She has prescribed me with some doses and exercise.

Suddenly writing this diary has become my only option of mental recovery! Kliper said I need to take out all of the thoughts and say it out loud or write it down. Now, I am sure everyone, including Pamela and Mae, will laugh if I start to narrate it out so here I write it, Kliper said to include as much details as I could.

So, it was bleak October and the cold winds had started. The nights began to come early and day ceased to only a couple of hours. I finished my snacks and got out of my couch, I say it is my couch because, mom, it is mine I like to sit on it and maybe sleep. Keeping the plate into the sink I drank some water and went inside my room. I selected some ordinary clothes and came out dressed in black Top and a Red skirt. Then I wore my long black socks and started to put on my shoes when my mother exclaimed,

" Where you going? It's 5 o'clock " she said

" To Mae's house. She called me only half an hour ago " I explained,

" But at this hour? " asked my mother inquisitively,

" Well, that's my play-time mom " I said

" Can't she come here? It'll be more safer "

Here I shall pause because my mother is like this super paranoid female, she doesn't even leave me alone when the annual fair goes on. Don't get me wrong, she is nice and the most creative and super loveable mother I can ever have but sometimes. . . It's just too much,

" She came here only yesterday mom. It doesn't look good if she keeps on coming here and I rarely visit her house ",

" Well, if you say so. . . and can I count on your words that you're only going to Mae's? " she asked,

This infuriated me a little,

" Obviously! Where do you think I'll go " I said with a little anger,

" Then give me a call from her house when you reach there okay,"

I nodded

" And don't you go over to Farms, I'll ask Miss Rice to if you went there " she said,

" Okay " I said,

But Mae's mother is exactly the opposite of my mother's paranoia side, thing is Mae's mother doesn't care much as to where we go. She even tells lies to my mother but only sometimes. She really takes care though, even if she lets us roam around she does keep an eye out of us. After our talk I tied my shoelaces and began to move out

" Remember, you have to go to Bates' house today. Come home early " she reminded,

My shoulders slumped and I turned around with a sorrowful look,

" Do I really? I don't want to " I said,

" We talked about this Beth, even if your sister is sick they have invited you too. And it's very nice of them " she said,

" But why can't you tell Mrs. Bates that I can't come too! " I said

" No I will not. Beth they came over our house and invited you and Sam. They are new to this town and I will not let them think that we are some sort of ungrateful people. " she said with anger,

" Fine, I'll go now cheer up mom " I said, I really hate it when she gets all grumpy and angry.

" I'm going mom. " I said finally and before closing the door I could hear my mother shouting to remind me again to call over from Mae's. With that I closed the door and began walking out into open world where you are as vulnerable as a spider in a house.

23/7/1998

Mae's house is 6 blocks away from mine. I strolled around the fences of the houses as I passed them, each of and every house told a different story about itself. One house told the story of poverty, you could see the long drawn cracks on the wall exposed to rain. Then you could see the middle class house, just as neat and clean as it needed to be and then came some polished houses, which had courts to play badminton and what not. I looked at each of them, tried to think the way they would look and their manners etc.

Then I stood in front of Mae Rice's house, just good as it needed to be. I looked at the beautiful flowers that her mother tended to and the mesmerising arrangement of the potted plant. An old suzuki sat on the parking lot just opposite the garden. I trod the gravel path and rang the doorbell. The sky was grey with clouds getting darker and massive. The faint full moon arriving in the visible sky looked ready to do its job. The door opened.

Mae was standing in front of me, I mocked a salute at her and she smiled and opened the door to let me enter. Pamela was already inside. She was the nerdy one among us. We are actually a group of six but the rest three; Amy, Francis and Gab were going on a joint family vacation. Mae's father was going through a surgery, Pamela was least interested in the trip and I was left out because this plan came out on the same day as our term results.

( Damn you Springfield.)

Anyways, We all sat in Mae's room. She had called us to make plans for movies for sunday and just talking and chatting. Mae's mother was all for it, she gave us some cake to eat and when Mae asked,

" Can we go to the fields? Just for a casual walk? "

Her mom smiled and bowed her head and motioned towards the door, everyone laughed. I wished she was my mom. We ate our cakes and took off from Mae's house towards the Farms, but before going I remembered that I needed to call my mom. I quickly grabbed the telephone and gave her a call,

" Mom I am here at Mae's house, okay. "

" Okay good thing you called, now you enjoy there and come home before 7:30 " she said,

" Okay mom " I said,

I put down the phone and we made our way outside once again.

We reached the fields talking and laughing, the air was getting cold but hardly one or two winds blew. We talked for almost an hour when Pamela opened the topic of Aurisville.

" You know Timothy is going over to Bates's home for a sleepover " she said,

" Don't remind me, it's the worse night of my life. It was fine if if only I went but with little timmy. God it'll be a scientific nightmare! " I groaned,

" He's not that boring. If you actually listen to him he, seriously, has some interesting stuff " she said,

" Yeah, but that ' stuff ' doesn't interest us nerdy. All the time he is talking about Periodic table and projectile motions and something, it's just so boring to listen to him, " said Mae, Pamela tried to interject but,

" And don't you save him, I know the way you talk with him. You got your crushies on him " she said,

I gave out a spurt of laughter while Mae rolled over on the dry grass. Pamela blushed and laughed too,

" Well, I hope Dan was there instead of Tim " I said, the thought just popped into my head and an emotional urge pushed it out of my mouth.

" Both of you are betrayers. " said Mae, Pamela and I looked at her,

" None of you want me " she said, But yet again we laughed,

" Have you seen them? Bates? " asked Pamela

" I did, I was buying groceries in the shop when I met Erin, she was this  bronze skinned, mouse haired lady. She had two kids with her. My mother and I approached them and we kinda talked and left. " said Mae

" What did you talk? " I asked,

" Nothing much just, where are you from and how did they arrive here. The thing is that Aurisville belongs to their family and so they said that they got notice from somebody to take that house. So they moved here "

" But isn't Aurisville too big? Like why do you live in such a big house? " asked Pamela,

" I don't know, but that house can't be sold since it near that Grey, "

Everybody gave a slight worried look, there was short silence and suddenly I felt the vastness of the field. The loneliness of it was kind of scary but no scarecrow was to be seen anywhere

" You have to spend the night there Betty " said Mae,

" Meh, it's fine. As long as Timothy shuts himself up " I said,

" Well, that's it then girls. We have to go to Movie on day after tomorrow and we meet tomorrow at. . .? "

" My house " I said, Mae mocked salute at me,

" Look at the time Betty, you gotta go it's 7:20 " exclaimed Mae,

" Shit, see you guys later. " I said and I began to brisk walk towards the main road.

24/7/1998

I arrived at my home at 7:32 and again my mom was furious at me. Now, when she told me to wash-up and come for dinner. I knew it would be foolish to argue. Nonetheless I washed my hands and legs, did my hairs then came down to dinner. It was nighttime already. Samantha was in her bed, she is only 10. She caught cold during the weather change, but still personally, I think she must be faking it, maybe I think like this because I REALLY DON'T WANT TO GO.

I came for the dinner, it was only the three of us. Father was in the office working overtime. It was 8:15. I got up from my couch and switched off the T.V and began to pack my case. Only a few clothes, one jacket ( In case it gets cold and they don't have a room heater ), comb and cream for face, toothbrush and then my mother came and poured down about 10 different games.

" Mom, they would have these " I said,

" Just take them. " she said and after packing, I changed again into the same black top and red skirt, because after this use they'll go to washing.

At 8:30 me and my mother went towards Aurisville, it wasn't far but it was nighttime and my mother would not even let me keep a toe out of the house. She left Sam with Mrs. Neil and her cute bitch Rose.

We arrived at the ville, it was one storey high, lots of windows which looked very new, since they gleamed in the moonlight and the outer courtyard was filled with dried Autumn-September leaves. There was a set of swings, yellow rods and red seats. And a bicycle stood out near it. The garage was on the left hand side and it was closed. The house was greyish and the we knocked on the blue door, the bell didn't ring. I looked back and a sudden eeriness gripped me. I could feel the absolute darkness. There were huge trees which covered the street from both the sides. There was no porch light. The door opened.

It was Erin, she looked exactly as Mae told. She looked at me for awhile and then smiled at my mom and they shook hands,

" Surely Bethany would like to spend the night here with Max and Jacob " said Erin,

I nodded with smile, out came two small creatures. Kids. Max, 12 year and Jacob, 10. They also looked at me. My mother talked with them and they seemed kind of cute. Polite and sweet, Erin also seemed to be good, except that she kept looking at me. As we were talking, Timothy came from the behind us and he introduced himself. Honestly, now I think Timothy was much better to talk to than these kids, who looked like they would be playing tag for the rest of the night,

" You finished your dinner? " my mother asked,

I rolled my eyes, typical mom.

" No, Robert's gone out, he'll come soon we'll eat when he arrives. " said Erin.

Soon, I was inside. . .

26/7/1998

Sorry, another concussion, it's getting worse day-by-day. Honestly people should really stop spreading fake news, last night I had 4-5 reporters who wanted to know about my. . . My, Oh god, My head hurts, all the flashes and my fingers, dear Diary I think I'm gonna die, die because I have sinned! Maybe? But no one sure, We had a priest who said that I needed to take forgiveness from the lord. I broke down, I cried and hugged my mother. Diary, I hope this day I will complete the incident, I can't keep it anymore. Pamela is gone! Mae is with me, she is good. She was always. But dear god I didn't think Pamela would actually treat me like this!!

30/7/1998

Okay, I'll complete this incident no matter what. Damn those medicine and let Pamela rot to hell. I am telling what I saw.

The whole house was so lavish, the carpets with red and golden-yellow design. The curtains too were red. The chandelier was like the gleaming sun. There were two staircases leading up, one on the right  and another on the left. It gave you that true ancient feeling of a villa, the whole room was coppery colour. The kitchen and the dining room were in the room which was below the staircase. I took a step and everybody looked at me. I shied and looked down, there was something wrong with me. I looked at Timothy. He was curly haired boy, average height and wore horn-like glasses. He smiled at me. I took a look at his suitcase, well it was literally a suitcase. He was packed for 2-3 days.

Suddenly there was a touch on my shoulder, the hair on the nape of my neck rose. I instantly looked back, it was Erin. She was smiling.

" Won't you go upstairs?, Jacob and Max will lead you towards the room. " she said,

She was wearing a blue dress, it gleamed and mixed perfectly with copper colour of the room. As if she was living here for more than a decade.

" Mom when are we going to eat them? " asked Max,

My eyes bulged, I quick turned and looked at Erin, who caressed Max's hair and smiled gently to him,

" We don't eat the Lego's Max. We eat. . . " she said,

I gulped some saliva, Then suddenly Jacob held my hand and I almost shook it off but something inside me made me feel comfort. Maybe the the 10 year old boys touch. Or Erin's smile. But same time I was alert, too alert. Far too much alert. Tim looked at me and smiled, he could see the tension on my face. Max held his hand and they dragged us upstairs.

While going up, I touched the ebony staircase support. It was smooth as dogs fur, as if it was polished just now. The stairs were laden with carpet. It was just too posh, too high class and at the same time I must remind you, that building was on the brink of dilapidation. And the Bates only moved in 5-6 days ago, not even a week.

We took the left stairs and took a left turn, as we moved towards our room, I passed a vase which was probably too expensive since it was looking so delicate, if a gust of wind blew it would break. Within a few more steps I saw a portrait of a man. He looked a little overweight but otherwise a good shape. Since he was standing, he was average-heighted with a fair complexion, blonde hairs. And,

" We're here. " said Tim, I looked away. We were introduced in a small room. The whole room smelled of a too strong flowery essence. I wrinkled my nose, I sat down on the bed. It was a bed for 2 which meant Me and Tim had to sleep on sleeping bags. Tim sat down beside me, he seemed interested in the architecture of the building.

" Max!! Jacob!! come down, your dads here!! We got to pray!! " cried Erin from below, the two boys who were eyeing both of us left, closing the door. It was silence for very long time.

Timothy looked around,

" You see Bethany, these walls are not scalable. You can't climb them and nor you can go down. Also, I think you should take interest in the designing, since being a girl you must have observed that they have made the interior so close to their ancient home. . ." he spoke, he went on for like 15 minutes until I had to stop him,

" Frankly Tim, I don't care. Just talk to yourself please. " I said, it was now about an hour of silence. Nobody bothered coming up. I was getting worried. After a few more minutes, I became impatient. I got up and got close to the door. I could hear faint chanting of them, they had been praying for an hour!

I desperately needed to use the bathroom now. The tension had set the bladder full. Still I waited for 2 more minutes until it was too much for me. I pulled open the door and began to walk towards the stairs. Their prayers were still on, I descended down the stairs. I noticed they had shut all of their windows and pulled the curtains. I kind of suffocation began to get my throat. I walked down and reached the middle of the hallway. They were still praying. The slowly crept towards the dining hall. I could see them all sitting down and praying. I moved closer. With their hands on their chest and in a circle, they were not praying but chanting something.

I finally stood in front of their door. And, foolishly, knocked on the door, all of them opened their eyes, my grabbed my hands together, all of their eyes were yellow!. With a long black gown, they all got up. Erin smiled to me, All of them did. They were sitting on their chairs, around the dining table, plates were arranged but empty. They smiled!! Revealing their deadly fangs!!

' My gosh Vampires!' the thought came to me, I was about the let loose my bladder when Robert, the dad, got up and looked at Erin, she smiled  at me and said,

" Dinner's ready Rob. " and then looked at me with those desperate eyes. Then suddenly Max and Jacob rushed at me. My senses kicked in. I rushed out of the door and took out for the stairs. I don't know why but I didn't want to leave out of that house, or some force wouldn't let me think that way.

I took the stairs and climbed up. Then reached the door and tried to open the door, it was locked!!,

" Tim open the door!!! Open the door Tim!!! Please!! " I screamed,

I punched the door, pounded on it but it did not open. Instead another door did, it was the opposite door. Along the long corridor, I looked back, Timothy was there, I took the wrong staircase!!

" They are coming Tim!! Lock the Door!!! lock the door!! " I screamed, but Tim was confused, he stood there, I began to rush towards him. Suddenly someone grabbed me. It was Erin, she dug her nails deep into my flesh, blood began to ooze out. I screamed in pain. I then grabbed her hairs and tug them with full force, she screamed.

I saw Robert climbing the left stairs, I knew I was caught. Taking a deep breath, I look at my left and dashed towards it, the walkway was short and when the stop came, I jumped.

From the first floor to the ground, on my legs,

CRACK!

There came a sound. I sudden pain triggered in my ankle and left arm elbow. I hollered in pain,

" There it is!! There it is!! " cried Jacob. Max and him began to rush towards me, they too had tiny fangs and their eyes were now getting red. Like little toy vampires they rushed at me. I began to get up but fell again. I dragged myself towards the hall. Screaming for help. Max took hold of my arm, he bit it with his mouth. I could feel the nasty saliva on my hand, my muscles stretched and pain entered my right hand. I wanted to slap that kid into the corner but Jacob got hold of my left leg, he took the bite at my ankle, hurting it more. He bit right into the bones. I stomped the floor with my left and broken arm, hurting it more. Then Erin came down and looked at me,

" Pretty little child. But you will fill our stomach. " she said, then she revealed her fangs, the jaw went behind more than any normal humans, she took a nip at my neck. I screamed and screamed but nobody stopped. Then suddenly,

WHAM!!

Erin was smacked right in her head with a chair and I could see, half-eaten Timothy looking at me, his one eye was missing and he had lost his right hand. Clothes were torn. Behind him Robert was rushing to finish his meal.

" G--Gug- OO!! " he spoke,

I dragged myself more. Max and Jacob were fighting with Timothy. Robert looked at his wife and then at Timothy. Tim looked at me, it was his last breath and smile. I looked at the window. I grabbed the small wooden stool and flung it towards the window and it smashed. I got out. The glass cut deep into my right thigh. I fell down into the garden. Desperate to get home, I took towards the exit. I grabbed the cycle. And hazed and fearfully began to rushed hayward out of the sight of Aurisville. With the support of the cycle, I walked long. But then suddenly it was too much for me. I fell down on the road and the cycle rolled towards the ditch. And I lay there. My bladder went loose, A sense of relief but then I closed my eyes. Dying every second as the blood flowed. . .

3/8/1998

Hello, this is Abigail, Bethany's mother. Bethany was taken into the hospital. She had a massive seizure. I have read the story till now. And think it is wise to conclude it. Beth was found my a local patroller in Mordle Farms. She had walked opposite direction. She was taken by him to the nearest hospital and when police recognised her. I was called. We rushed to the hospital and I saw the state of Beth, I just slumped down on the ground. Just stunned. . .

. . . Sorry, I can't describe you the feeling of how a mother feels when she sees her child in worse state than a leper. She wasn't diagnosed with any functional disorder nor was there any affect of those evil demons biting my girl. We must be thankful for that. We have been given notice to leave this house and move further into Mordle New. They are going to prosecute Bates but that would be a thing if they were found. Mae and her family are going with us, while Pamela has distanced herself from Beth, I don't know how such an intelligent girl should act like that.

Anyways, I am going to leave this Diary here so as to leave these troubled times behind our family. I hope those abomination upon earth are found and a knife is put through each one's heart of this horrendous act.

Yours sincerely,
Bethany & Abigail.

The End
