CHAPTER 4
Nightshade crawled into the den with the magikarp. Solanaceae still seemed to be slowly digging out space. "Wow, you weren't kidding when you said this place was small." Nightshade commented. "And it would be larger if you helped out, Nightshade." Solanaceae snapped.
"Woah, calm down. I bring you food, and you're mad at me. How rude." Nightshade responded, dropping the magikarp and swapping places with Solanaceae. "You left me here to dig. We just evolved, Nightshade, and you're not even allowing me to make sure you're okay by yourself. You could've gotten hurt by another Pokémon out there!" Solanaceae huffed, eating the magikarp.
Nightshade grinned. "Actually, speaking of that, I did end up in a battle, but I won! You can't blame me for being awesome!" Nightshade responded, pushing the dirt outside of the den. "What!? Are you stupid or something? You could've died!" Solanaceae hissed. "But I didn't! And I learned more about the Pokémon in the process!" Nightshade defended herself.
"Like what? Fighting style? That won't help in every situation, you know." Solanaceae commented, finishing off the magikarp as Nightshade got back to digging. "Like how a few Pokémon evolved beneath that blood moon, which makes them especially dangerous." Nightshade corrected. Solanaceae seemed taken aback. "Okay, so you fought a really dangerous Pokémon, and you're treating this as though it's fine!? Are you insane? Did your evolution mess with your brain or something!?"
Nightshade shrugged. "If it did, then it's hardly noticeable!" Nightshade smiled happily, still digging away. "Well, since you left me here to dig, I suppose it's my turn to explore." Solanaceae decided. "Wait, no, don't leave me!" Nightshade exclaimed, turning to look at Solanaceae who was already gone. "Dammit." Nightshade sighed as she dug her paws through the dirt.
Nightshade already regrets doing this to her brother. "Solanaceae I'm sorry please come back-!" Nightshade requested, hoping her sister was just playing a trick. After a moment, Solanaceae was still gone, and Nightshade sighed, pushing out more dirt. Solanaceae did most of the digging, yes, but it was at least now bearable for the two to be in there together. Nightshade crawled out of the den and took a breath of the fresh air.
It was still getting hotter, but at least now the sun should start going down. Nightshade smiled at the prospect of it getting cooler and laid down in front of the den. She was determined to sit here and wait until Solanaceae got back, then they could at least do something together! Or at least Nightshade could apologize to Solanaceae for leaving them to die of boredom while digging out the den.
Nightshade closed her eyes to think. Was this really a safe place? What about the radiation? Solanaceae seemed to think that they're safe now that they evolved, but was that really the case? Why was she treated as though she were prey to that one umbreon? Was it because of the blood moon having affected him, or was it from the radiation, or just his own desires?
Why was it getting so freakishly hot out? It was getting to be autumn, so there was no need for it to be hotter than what it was during summer. Nightshade sighed and opened her eyes once more.
All this thinking was starting to hurt her brain!
Nightshade stood back up and stretched, straying away from the den as the sun finally started to look as though it were setting. She could see a nearby town from here, and she wanted to explore, even if by a small bit.
Nightshade slowly crept towards it, but stopped when she realized there was a large chasm of a ravine blocking her way. She groaned and tried to find another way around. Perhaps through the trees? But it would be rather risky, and Nightshade only ever climbed a tree once as a leafeon, and she happen to get knocked out of it!
She huffed, looking for other alternatives, but couldn't find any. Nightshade groaned, having wanted to cross, but since she was unable to, Nightshade had nothing better to do than to head back to the den.
