Chapter 2
~ 2018 ~
I sat up in fright. The boy, the manor, the zombies, my mother?!
I looked around me quickly and saw that I was in the cellar of my beloved manor. Oh, how much I missed my home...
"Don't look to happy.." a small voice squeaked out.
I looked into the darkness of the cellar, "what on earth do you mean?! This is my home - oh, how I've missed it."
I looked at one of the brick walls and moved my hand along it.
"We've been captured! Don't you see that?!" The voice yelled out.
I sighed - remembering the lonely darkness.
"At least I am home. That's all that matters"
The voice gave out a mocking laugh, "are you sure about that!"
I looked at the darkness confused.
"You saw the 4 men like every single one of us did.."
I gave out a breath of shock, "you saw the men too!"
"We've all seen them and now we are banished here for what we have seen.."
"Banished?!" I gave out in shock again.
"But this is my home?!"
The voice gave out an irritated sigh, "it's a trap! We're really in a dark CELL in a dungeon somewhere.."
"What?? That's completely absurd." I remarked.
The voice gave out yet another irritated sigh, "it's all mind tricks. Just please get out of it soon because I don't want to see another death today?!"
Another death?!
Then I heard a metal door open. The voice might have a valid point because we never had a METAL door on the cellar or anywhere in the manor for that matter...
I closed my eyes trying to tell myself it's all fake and that none of it was true and then when I opened my eyes I saw the true scene.
A dark cell in a dungeon. A small girl in the corner of the room - dressed in rather odd and exposing clothing.
"What on earth are you wearing youngling?!" I said out of disgust. Who has been giving this child such indecency!
The child gave me an odd look before rolling her eyes, "I'm wearing a crop top, some shorts because where I am from - it is extremely hot."
Hot?! I have never heard of such nonsense.
"Guess these men went backwards again." The girl said in a bored tone, "that's not the first."
Not the first??
"This might sound rather absurd but I'm from the future... these men are time travellers and serve Satan, lucifer - whatever you want to call the big man down under.... these 4 men are the Antichrist and in recent years they've realised a grave mistake they have made. Each time the world nearly came to an end - the had risen and in turn exposed themselves to the world - causing rage and panic. I don't know why they fear being caught so much but I know they are scared. Scared of being noticed and caught out." The young girl explained.
I gave a slight shake, "considering I'm from a time of slaying zombies - I wouldn't be so surprised. The world is very bizarre in its ways and these 4 men don't seem at all normal considering the amount I have thought about them after my encounter."
The girl gave me a look of worry, "an encounter?!"
I sighed, "well considering one said that the 'jig was up' made me confused because who on earth uses the word 'jig'."
"They talk?!" The girl jumped up from her sitting position.
I gave the girl an odd look now, "aren't we all human? Of course they talk!"
The girl rolled her eyes as she ran towards the cell bars.
"They've been ignoring me for months, years and haven't spoken a word to me. I presumed they were either mute of had a reason not to - like a siren but clearly not if they spoke to you!" She then started banging the cell bars.
"ANSWER ME?! YOU CAN SPEAK - AND YOU WILL ANSWER ME?!" The girl shouted at the top of her lungs.
Honestly, she looked like an insane person but in this scenario I'll give the small girl a pass - cause clearly she isn't having the best time right now.
"ANSWER ME?!" She shouted again.
We waited in silence for a couple of minutes and then sighed when no answer was given.
"I honestly don't know anymore..." she said as she slowly collapsed to the floor.
I sighed.
"Do they bring food down here? Maybe you can ask them?" I suggested.
The girl turned to me with a defeated look plastered on her face.
"No luck there. They bring servants down here who have their mouths stitched up tight - meaning not even a word can go out of their mouths - only grunts and head movements." She then proceeded to lay on the concrete floor - a sigh escaping her, "it's useless!"
I looked at the cell bars and back at the small girl - I then proceeded to look around the dark cell.
"Where are all the other girls?" I asked.
The girl sighed, "dead. They either didn't wake up from their imaginary purgatory or they died from defiance or being too nosy - the list honestly goes on."
I sat down next to the girl on the concrete floor, "surly someone is alive to tell the tale?" I asked.
"It's just us now. For centuries they hunted us down and now here we are - the only two out of hundreds, maybe even millions or billions." She shrugged her arms.
I looked at the ground, "how awful..."
The cell doors then banged open - the girl retreating back to her dark corner. I looked at the young girl rather confused and shocked. She seemed so strong and brave only merely seconds before.
I looked away from the girl and looked at the figure which cause the girls fear and there one of the 4 men stood.
I sat there rather confused - the girl said that not one of the men came down here and now here one stood.
The imposing figure advanced forward, into the cell.
I quickly crawled over to the girl; thinking he was going to kill the girl for either shouting or saying too much. However, I think it might be the first option.
And I sat in front of the girl; holding my hands around her back - keeping her close to my body.
The figure kept advancing and stopped just in front of me - I closed my eyes. Awaiting my death which didn't seem to come.
After a couple more seconds I noticed I wasn't going to die. I rubbed the girls back noticing she hadn't been taken either. I then opened my eyes and saw the figure crouch in front of me - his blue eyes illuminating in the darkness of the cell.
