Chapter 1
~ 1945 ~
The world has nearly come to an end countless times. Firstly by a deadly plague, secondly by the Great War and thirdly by an outburst of zombies - the world simply wants to end. But somehow, we as humans seem to be able to stop it every time.
The worlds end has brought many signs - mass human panic, deteriorating nature, hellish flames and 4 bizarre looking men who stand tall on the horizon; overlooking the mass panic.
I - unlike many - saw these men standing proud of the mess that was before them.
They all stood dressed in black - faces barely recognisable to the eye. They seemed proud of this situation - of this hellish situation...
Since the day I laid eyes on these 4 men I have been more cautious and more frightened than usual. Which is rather bizarre considering how thick skinned and brave I am - now that might sound awfully self centred and obnoxious but I believe I am to be. And that is all that matters in this world - not wealth, nor ignorance but being sure of yourself - which I am. Well, I thought to have been...
These men single handedly made me second guess my courage. Yet I don't see why - I mean I was on the front line; defending my family from a mass of zombies on the day that I laid eyes on these mysterious men.
Then after seeing them - I found myself frightened. Fearing for my own life... The question I'm asking myself is why??
"Elizabeth!" My mother screamed from wherever she is within the manor.
"Yes mother!" I shouted back as response - sharpening my blade for the next zombie attack.
My mother suddenly barged into my room.
"Lizzie - someone is here to see you.." she stated in an urgent tone.
I sighed in defeat and followed my mother downstairs - following her exact footsteps...
I stopped at the front door and stared in wonder at a boy - he looked extremely dashing to say the least; with his brunette hair, tall structure and Hazel eyes which shone in the morning sky - I would somewhat consider him handsome? and maybe - just maybe - a suitable man to fight alongside with. Even though i dont know his fighting skills - he does seem rather fight worthy...
"Pardon me ma'am but I am here on business." the boy stated.
I looked at the boy confused - what business?
"Business?" I asked curiously, "whatever do you mean. I don't do business?"
The boy looked up at me frightened, "please ma'am. It will only take up a second of your time."
I sighed in defeat yet again.
"Very well. Mother please show the man to the library. I will be there imminently.."
My mother nodded as she got one of the maids to take him to the library.
Once he was gone - my mother turned back to me.
"Lizzie - why may I ask is there a boy here to see you?"
I sighed, "I don't know mother but I intend to find out soon."
My mother gave a slight nod of her head, "right - well I'll be in the kitchen if you need me."
She then walked off. Leaving me in the entrance hall all alone.
I moved quickly to the front door - peeping outside to see the carriage the boy came in. Yet I didn't see a carriage - nor did I see a horse. Bizarre....
I opened the door and looked around outside - rather confused.
"Hello ma'am.."
I turned around in fright and stared at a different handsomely looking man. This time the man possessed a taller structure than the other indoors and had ginger hair with sky blue eyes.
Yet I didn't see a carriage or horse with him either...
"Who are you sir?" I asked kindly. Not wanting to alert him of my wonder.
He sighed, "the jig is up boys!"
The jig? What on earth is that? and there are others? what on earth is going on?
"The jig! What on earth is a jig?!" I asked in confusion.
Then darkness.
