Epilogue
Bryanna walked into the apartment, closing the door behind her, and Monique stood up from the chair in surprise. "I have some news."
"You first," Monique said.
Bryanna nodded weakly. She took a deep breath and shrugged. "I did it."
Monique's eyes widened. "You... killed him?"
Bryanna nodded. "And the I threw up when I got back to Andrew's house." She paused. "I... won't be turning into a werewolf anymore." Her chest rose as she breathed.
Monique embraced Bryanna. "It's okay... It's okay. Now... all we can do is wait. You'll be home soon. You'll be with your family again."
Bryanna took deep breaths, pulling away from Monique. "You're not coming?"
Monique lowered her eyes. "That was the deal. I have to be here as Dimitri's... helper. In exchange, I got a cure for you. But ultimately, it was a life for a life exchange. Dimitri changed your life and took my mine."
Bryanna froze, taking it in. "I'll kill him."
"No, Bryanna. A deal is a deal."
"But if he's dead--"
"You've killed enough. Let Dimitri go."
Bryanna paused and looked away. "I get it. This is how he lives. That's how he does it... That's how he tricks people..."
~~~~~~~
"Are you going to be okay by yourself up here?" Bryanna looked down the tree. "It will be a pack of us."
"Kyle sawed all the branches you guys could possibly reach to climb this tree, the raw meat is on the other side of the woods, and I have arrows." Monique smiled. "Besides, I'm better at shooting now than I was a week ago. I'm not great but I am better." She looked at the setting sun for a moment.
Bryanna nodded. She took a deep breath. "You better pull me up in time if I don't change."
"I will."
They watched Garth's truck arrive and everyone got out and walked towards the tree.
"Go on." Monique smiled.
Bryanna jumped down from the tree with a rope around her waist.
Garth stared at her. "Are you sure you want us here?"
Bryanna nodded. "We're a pack, and I might not change."
Jude smiled. "For your sake, I hope you do."
Patty rolled her eyes. "Yeah. You'll finally be away from us."
"Shut up, you bitch."
Patty scoffed and looked at Garth, who said nothing. No one said anything really. They simply waited.
~~~~~~~
Everyone was shocked as Bryanna began to scream. However, Monique was the most shocked. Out all of the screams of transformation she heard the most, it was Bryanna's. She cut the rope from the tree and threw it down. She shook her head in disbelief as the now transformed Bryanna looked up at her.
They were all wolves now and trying to climb the tree. Monqiue stared down nervously but not frightened. However, everyone stilled as they heard a wolf howl in the distance. It seemed higher in pitch. Garth began to growl at the tree across Monique.
Monique paused as she looked at the brown haired man. He smiled gently at her. All the wolves continued to growl at him. However, he continued to smile at Monique.
"What do you want?" Monique glared.
The man paused. "Did you... Did you enjoy the rose?"
Monique's brows furrowed. "You sent that?"
The man easily stood up and smoothly walked away on the branch.
"Answer me."
He said nothing. He seemed to jump off the tree, for the wolves paused and began chasing after something. Monique took a deep breath.
~~~~~~~
Garth sighed deeply as he stood in the abandoned building in the afternoon. There used to be forty-six known werewolves in East Hampton and Amagansett combined. Now, there only seemed to be seven.
"Garth..."
Garth didn't move a muscle to face Dimitri.
Dimitri's expression was soft. "I'm sorry..."
"Sorry isn't going to bring her back."
"Neither will killing me. If killing me is all you have of her, you're more hollow than you used to be."
Garth turned and glared at Dimitri. "Why did you kill her?"
Dimitri stayed silent for a moment. "Because she was a werewolf--"
"You're lying."
"She didn't want you to know. She didn't want you to know because she didn't want you to know Andrew would be born a werewolf."
"You're lying. I bit him."
Dimitri shook his head. "She did."
Garth paused.
"Did you ever realize the story didn't make complete since? You were out deep in the woods. She was home with Andrew. How were you, out in the woods for hours, supposed to bite Andrew right before sunrise? You didn't even have his scent. You had no scent of your home."
Garth lowered his eyes, imagining Andrew being saved by his aunt, his wife's sister.
Dimitri went on. "She locked herself in the basement. One night, Andrew got curious what the noises were. Unfortunately, her sister was sleeping. Did you ever wonder why her sister was such a good shot, or why she constantly cancelled dinner parties if she knew it was going to be a full moon?"
Garth glared at Dimitri. "But why did you kill her?"
"She was already dead. A vampire bit her arm." Dimitri frowned. "As you know, the two bacterias can't exist in the same body."
"She was going to die anyway..."
"She was going to die in suffering. I ended that suffering."
Garth silently glared at Dimitri for a moment. "You should have let me talk to her, or at least let Andrew talk to her. He was just a boy. After that night, had nightmares all the way up until high school. He almost dropped out of high school just so he could hunt you."
"Garth, she was dying painfully. The bacterias inside her--"
"Do you understand anything about humans?" Garth scoffed. "Do you even remember what it's like to be human?"
"What an insult?" A man laughed. "What if you were never born human? Like your son?"
Garth and Dimitri turned towards the door.
The man stepped forward smiling. His black hair was spiked in all sorts of directions. Four people stood behind him. "You remember my dad, don't you, Garth," The man asked.
Garth glared. "Who are you?"
"Remember a werewolf named David Victos?"
Garth's eyes widned.
"I'm his son, Kellen."
