From a little distance, I watched Mirage talk to my sister. He had wrapped his arm around her waist and his other hand softly brushed some strands from her face. How could she? I really didn't understand how she could possibly betray a mech like Mirage. Like Ironhide said; he's sweet and little bit arrogant. I shook my head. I was mad. Over the last few weeks, I learned how loyal and kind Dino is. Kamie freed herself from his grip and walked off. I couldn't tell if she was mad or not, but from reading Dino's face, I could tell he wasn't happy. He ran his hand through his hair before he walked up to me. 'You spoke to her.' He nodded. 'Yeah, I did. I asked her for a date, but she refused. Is that a bad sign?'

'She's jealous.'

I turned around. 'Can't you help me? She's your sister, you know her.' I laughed coldly. 'I thought I knew her, but she keeps surprising me with things I hadn't expected from her,' I scolded. 'Like...?' I didn't reply. Dino passed and blocked my way. 'I don't want to lose her, Katie. I feel like I am losing her, so can you please give me a little bit of advice?' I bit my lip. I wanted to tell him to leave her. It would save him so much pain and trouble in the end. 'I don't know her that well, Mirage. I thought I did.' Dino sucked in a breath. 'Right, so I should just buy some flowers then?' I gave a nod and passed. 'We wouldn't make it personal, Mirage. What happened to that?' I muttered. 'It already personal.'

I ignored his statement. I pushed the door of his office open and sat down. Mirage sat behind his own desk with a deep sigh. 'Is Kamie close with the soldiers here?' Mirage looked up. 'Yeah, but every time I ask about, she gets all defensive. She thinks I'm jealous.' He rolled his eyes. 'Are you?' He locked his eyes with me again. 'No, of course not.' He snorted. 'You are. You're scared she finds someone else, right?' Mirage slumped back. 'There are a lot of guys here. I've seen them look at her. I'm blessed with her, I don't want to lose her.'

'I know how it feels, with my boyfriend I always felt like he was looking at other women.' There was a brief silence before he spoke up. 'And...? Did he?' He asked. 'Unfortunately, yeah... he got one pregnant. There's always a reason for feeling what you feel.' I shrugged. 'But she wouldn't cheat on me, right? I can't believe she would.' He slumped back and tapped with the pen on his desk. 'Right?'
'Like I said, Mirage... Kamie and I don't talk, I don't know her the way you do. All I do know is that she should be blessed to have you and if she doesn't... then she's a total moron and bitch.'

'After all...' I added, getting his attention again. '... girls are all bitches at some point. I don't care if I get hated for it, but some people do it intentionally. To deeply hurt someone and that's the difference between me and my sister. I would never hurt someone on purpose, only to protect that person from getting even more hurt in the end.'

'So, you say she would intentionally hurt me?'

'She lied to you about me, about her past, about our relationship and about our family. There's a reason why I don't trust her, Mirage. All I want to say about is that you shouldn't believe everything she says without doing some digging yourself too. If you're suspicious, you're probably right. We are both spies and our institution doesn't let us down, right?' Mirage nodded slowly. 'Then what happened between you and her? Did you really kill someone?'

'Yeah, I did. My uncle.'
I bit down on my lip. 'Your uncle?' He repeated. 'It's a long, complicated story and I don't like talking about it. Maybe I will tell you the story when I'm ready to share it, okay?' Dino accepted my answer and eyed me for a moment. 'Anyway, I did some research and traced Barriacade's steps back. Is there something special in Utah?' He frowned and got up, looking over my shoulder as I pointed at the screen. 'Utah? No... not that I know off,' he mumbled. 'Something kept him from returning there. I looked at the footage recorded around the area there, but he got off the main road onto some sort of dirt road. I tried to trace it, but it's not on the map.'

Mirage hummed. 'It's close to the town of Richfield. Just a few miles North. Weird, right? It's on the other side of the country.' Mirage nodded and crossed his arms. 'Almost as if he was hiding or tried to hide something,' he mumbled. 'Whatever it was, someone wanted him dead for it.' Mirage nodded and turned away. 'You know what... I will fly to Utah tomorrow.' His eyes widened. 'No! Absolutely not! We are in this together.'

'Besides, we reached a dead end with Frenzy for now anyway,' he added. 'Speaking of which...' I passed him. 'What?'
'We used to communicate in a code. So other Decepticons wouldn't notice it. A few months back, Barricade send me a post card. What if he hid a message in it? Why else would he send me a post card, right?' Mirage raised a brow. 'What kind of relationship did you had with him?' He mocked. 'We worked together for some time. He gave me information and I gave him information. I was working on another big case a few years back.'
He ohh'ed.

'Any other Decepticons you worked with and I should know about?' I turned and hummed softly. 'Yeah... a few. They're not all bad. They act out of fear for Megatron. He's brutal.' I opened the door. 'I think you should make a list with mechs you worked with... just for me to know,' he said. I turned. 'If it makes you sleep at night then I will.' I closed the door behind me and walked up to my room.

I kept a few personal belongings underneath my bed. I sat down on the ground, cross-legged and searched through the box. I guess I triggered Mirage with curiously. He knocked on my door before walking in. 'And?' I gestured for him to shut the door. He looked around before sitting down. 'What is all this?'
'These are things I am attached to or have some sort of value.'
'A lot of post cards.'
'Yeah, he send me a lot.'
'Did he had an optic on you or something?'
I snorted. 'No! Absolutely not. He was more of a... father figure I guess. He's just as sly as a fox, but he kept an optic out for me and protected me several times. He found me by accident on the road when I got dumped. It was snowing really hard and I suffered from hypothermia, so he took me in and brought me to the police station where he got me hot chocolate. He had a double life back in the days.'

'Are you sad? About his death?'

I nodded. 'Yeah, I am. I just didn't want to show it.' He grabbed a photo. 'This is you? You're adorable.' I looked at it and nodded. 'I guess.' I grabbed a small plastic bag with postcards in it. 'He send you all of that?' He exclaimed. 'Yeah, something wrong?' He didn't reply. 'Let's see, this is the last one he send me...' I pulled it out and had a look before Mirage reached for it.
'Nothing special...' he mumbled. I hummed and got up. 'I know...' he raised a brow. 'We used to send secret messages. We need a lighter.' Mirage hoisted himself up and followed me quickly.

'Secret codes?'

I hummed. 'You never did that with your spy buddies? Mess around and send secret codes to see if the other can solve the riddle?' He shook his head slowly. 'So, you're able to solve the code on that note I was talking about?' He questioned. 'Maybe, do you have the original note in your possession?' He shook his head. 'No, the police has it for the murder investigation,' he replied. 'If you get it in your possession, give it to me and I'll show you the secret twist.' Mirage nodded slowly and smiled. 'I don't regret asking you. You're really a bright spark.' I smiled. 'Awh, you're so sweet. If you didn't had a girlfriend, I would say you're flirting with me,' I teased. A dark blush crept up on my face. So he was flirting a little bit.
