(5) Deadbody and Deceit

'Are you sure we are at the right place?'

'Little bit more trust in me, Mirage.' I looked outside. The night had fallen and a reary cloud hung over the wooded area. 'It feels like I am in the middle of nowhere...' Mirage muttered under his breath and sat back. 'We are in the middle of nowhere...' I commented and emphasized 'we are' part. My eyes slid over the area but there wasn't much to see whatsoever. 'So, have you talked to Kamie? Or is still giving you a silent treatment?' I asked. The Autobot spy sucked in a breath, 'she's not happy... and I feel bad towards you because I dragged you into this and now...' he stopped to look at me. "Well, this isn't your fault, right?' I asked. 'I asked you to come to the base... so basically, it is sort of my fault.'

'Oh please Dino, don't be ridiculous...' I sat back in his leather seat again and removed the seatbelt to have some more space to move around. Dinos shrugged and took a sip of the water bottle he took along. 'Want some?' He questioned and handed it to me. After a few sips, I turned my attention back to Mirage. 'Don't blame yourself for this. The relationship I have with Kamie is... hard for other people to understand and I know you want to know every detail but... I don't like talking about what happened to me and everything is just messed up.'

'I don't want to come between you and Kamie.'
'She is difficult sometimes you know.'
'You that she's egoistic?'
'Sometimes it feels like I can't do anything right,'
'You know, Mirage... that's just who she is.'

'Do you know that feeling of being happy to see someone?' He asked, turning his head to look at me. 'No.' Dino carried on with his story anyway. 'It's a good feeling to have someone make you feel that way, you know what I mean. I don't always feel that and I try to be a good mate but... it's hard.' I couldn't blame him, it's true. Before I could reply, mirage spoke up again;

'There's a car approaching.'

Dino and I looked through the passenger window to have a better look, the headlights were dimmed and the car was dark. 'that doesn't look like a police car to me...' Dino whispered. He didn't have to whisper whatsoever, no one could hear or probably see us. 'Maybe Barricade changed his alt-mode...' Dino sighed, not convinced. The car came to a halt a little further away from where we were parked and nothing happened. The engine had stopped but no one hopped out or approached us.

'Are we going to wait here?' I asked. Dino peered through the window one more time. 'Yeah, let's see what is going to happen.' I nodded but kept looking at the car. 'Do you think this person or persons are able to see us? It's quite cloudy...' I said quietly. "I don't know... if it was Barricade, he probably would have approached us by now,' Mirage muttered. I agreed, this isn't Barricade but this person is going to ruin our appointment. Barricade is not going to show up when this person is parked here, he might think we took reinforcements.

Then, from the woods a tall slender figure appeared. Completely dressed in black and I wasn't able to see his face. I assumed it was a he by the looks of it. The man walked over to the car and hopped in, a few minutes later, the car's engine started as the car drove off. 'That was strange, wasn't it?' I muttered. Dino only nodded and hopped out of the car. I followed at a slower pace towards the tree line where the man had just appeared. 'Are we going to head into the woods? In the dark?' I asked. Dino was seriously considering it which was in my opinion already crazy enough. Who heads into the woods in these circumstances?

'Yeah... just to have a quick peek and see what this person did in the woods. It's strange right? To have an appointment here and these vague figures show up...' I nodded quietly. Dino and I followed the footprints deeper into the woods but we found nothing. 'Maybe we should head back. I don't feel comfortable at all,' I muttered. 'To me... it feels like something is off. What were they doing in the woods?' He asked. 'We are spies, not detectives or cops. It's not our job to figure that your.'

Dino halted and turned. 'What if it had something to do with our appointment with Barricade? You don't know that for sure.' Dino is right, I don't know that for sure but I also wanted to believe it's just a coincidence and not something planned. Despite all this, I didn't want to be out here in the dark, in the woods. It creeped me out and there aren't many things that scare me. This is one of those things I just deeply hated. Dino whatsoever, took off deeper into the woods to investigate. Nosy mech.

We got off the main trail to follow the footsteps and neared a creep. Dino shone his flashlight around. 'I guess this is a dead end.' Dino nodded and turned towards me. At that exact moment Dino was about to announce we are going back to his car, I saw something between the rocks at the shore near the creek. 'Wait.' Dino arched a brow and turned to follow my gaze. 'You see that?' Dino nodded.

We headed down to the creep and that's when we found a body. Dino and I exchanged a look. 'We need to call the cops.' Dino shook his head, 'they will question us too. They might assume we did it,' he mocked. 'Dino, we have too. We found the body, we didn't kill him...' I approached and crouched down to have a better look at the body. His face was partly under water and hard for me to see who it was. 'Shine the light.'

Dino pointed the flashlight at me. 'Oh my—'
'What's wrong?' Dino questioned. 'I know who this is, Mirage...' I got back up on my feet while Mirage arched his brow. He pointed the light into the creek before he glanced at me. 'This is Barricade.'
