(4) Asking for a favor
"Kamie!"
My sister came to a halt as I approached. "What do you want, Katie?" she snapped. "I want to talk..." I stated. She sucked in a breath, "what's there to talk about?" she asked. "Look, I know you're not happy to see me and I totally get that. "All I want is to help Mirage solve his problem and leave," I stated. Kamie snorted and shook her head, "I know Mirage picked you above everyone else due to your past. Can he even trust you? Are you sure we can all trust you?" she asked. "I am not a traitor, that's what you always assumed, Kamie. I am betrayed, but I don't betray." Kamie snorted and looked away for a moment, "you betrayed me."
"I didn't betray you... you just don't know the whole story. That's something different. I left not because I wanted but because I had to. I am treated like an animal, thrown onto the streets while you get pampered and get everything you ever wanted," I snapped. "You're just jealous," she sulked. "Am I? You feel threatened by me for some reason and honestly, I am happy with the life I have now. I don't have to worry about disappointing my family because apparently I already did. Kamie stared at me for several moments, "you didn't grieve when I disappeared..." I added quietly. "That's not true... I was sad because you are my sister... family. You were the one who didn't seem to care about being gone."
"I did... but–" I cut myself off for a brief moment. "... I didn't miss mom and dad. They were just... not treating me like they should treat their six year old," I mumbled. Kamie and I stared at each other for a moment, "I didn't do anything wrong... I don't know what they told you but..." Kamie cut me off. "They said you stabbed someone, is that true?" she asked. "That's what they told you–" she cut me off again. "Is it true... Did you kill someone?" she asked. "Yes... but–" Kamie turned around. "Sis... listen to me! Please." She raised her hand and walked off. I leaned against the wall for a moment, sucking in a breath.

I watched Katie. Did she really kill at the age of six? Of course I can't really judge her lifestyle, she's a spy and obviously been through a lot but I wanted to know what's going on between the sisters, why Kamie is mad at Katie and why Katie stabbed that man. I quietly turned around and walked back towards the office. I don't want her to know that I heard what she said to Kamie. Maybe I'll talk to Kamie later today and see if she wants to talk about what happened between her and Katie.
The said female walked in not too long after her talk with Kamie and was good at hiding her frustration and anger, but I could clearly sense it. I smelled it. "You're okay?" I stopped typing and looked at her. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be fine?" she replied bluntly and sat down in front of me. "I don't know... you seem mad," I murmured. "I am not mad... listen, about Hugh... I don't think that we will find anything in old reports because most of them are destroyed in a fire. You can't find them online due to privacy reasons and I think that it is a dead end anyway..." she began. I sucked in a breath and leaned back. "... but..." she continued. "I know a guy I can talk to... but you are probably not going to like it," I said. "Who?" I asked.
"Barricade."
I frowned a little, "you know him?" I asked. "I do... I know him very well actually," she replied and played with a pen in the meantime. "You work with him? Or for him?" I asked suspiciously. "No, I don't work for him, I have worked with him a couple of times. Like I said.... Most things we did were illegal and Barricade was one of the person's I met along the way. It actually started when he saved my life and then I saved his... it went back and forth like that... we lost contact two years ago but... I know where to find him."
"What makes you think that this Decepticon knows what happened to Hugh?"
"You mean ex-Decepticon. He's no longer serving Megatron after an incident. That's what Frenzy told me. Barricade doesn't want to talk about it," I replied. I sat up straight, "not a Decepticon anymore? What incident?" I asked curiously. "I don't know what happened between Barricade and Megatron. Frenzy didn't want to tell me and to be honest, it doesn't really matter. What Barricade is doing now may interest you..." I said.
"Spill the beans."
"He has joined a gang. Selling weapons and drugs. Once a criminal always a criminal and I also know his allies. He wants to keep a low profile so Megatron won't find him nor any other Decepticon... or Autobot." I grabbed a blank sheet of paper, "what's his name?"
"Cade Escobar... don't ask. He came up with it to blend it and probably thought it would be a good idea to name himself after a famous drug dealer but that's not the point. Barricade knows where I come from... he has always been a little different then his fellow Decepticons... like Blackout, Bonecrusher and Starscream."
"You know them all?"
"Most of them... yes."
"Did the Decepticons train you to become a spy?"
"No... they didn't. Their role in my life is different than you think."
"I hate Megatron for a lot of things. I don't want to talk about it, it's not important for this case anyway," she muttered. "Katie... I know I promised not to make it personal, but... maybe we need to know so we can prevent it from happening again," I tried. Katie shook her head, "you don't understand Mirage. It won't happen again because Megatron decided it was enough and just... left. I haven't seen him ever since and it doesn't matter. Just drop it, okay?" she asked. I gave a small nod, I am pressing her buttons and the last thing I want is pissing her off or upsetting her even more. Maybe she just needs time to adjust and get act together.
"Alright. Let's do it. Let's have a chat with Barricade and see what he has to tell us. If he wants to talk to us," I sulked. "He will. He owes me something." Katie got up and walked over to the door to leave. "Do I see you with lunch?" I asked. She looked over my shoulder, "I am sure my sister wants you to keep her company and to be honest, she's a better company then I am. I am not here to reunite with her nor my family. I don't ever want to see them again, I hope you understand that." I leaned back in the office chair again. "It just makes me wonder why... no one tells me about it." Katie rolled her eyes, "because it's not your business, Mirage." She opened the door and slammed it shut behind her.
