His Fault

"I hope you know this is your fault." I grumbled from inside Baltia's jail.

This time Jacob and I were on the same side of the bars.

"Well I'm glad my company is stuck with me this time." Jacob teased, bumping my arm with his elbow. "Besides, you did it too."

"Hmmmph fine." The laughter of the situation had wore off some time after the two men who arrested us had pulled their weapons on us.

If they took a little trespassing so seriously imagine their reactions to us trying to break out. I wasn't looking forward to our escape attempt.

We'd been there for a little less than an hour, spending most of the time in silence, although I could tell Jacob did not regret it.

Carter whispered something in the ear of guard #573. He strolled over to our cell and pulled out a key. The door swung open and he beckoned me out.

"You're free to go." He said.

Jacob followed. The guard held up a hand.

"Just the girl."

I laughed at Jacob's face as I watched the guard lock the door behind me. He looked as if he'd been clubbed with a metal bat, struck dumb.

"Why her?" He asked.

Instead of giving him the actual answer, that I had a cleaner record for trouble than he did, Carter responded with, "Because she's prettier than you."

Now watching Jacob became twice as amusing. He seemed to nod a bit, besides himself, before his cheeks pinked and he opened his mouth, argumentatively.

"Well we all know that's not true. You haven't been able to keep your eyes off me since I wound up in Baltia." Jacob recovered, throwing Carter a wink.

I let out a snort of laughter, which I covered with a cough as Carter eyed me, annoyed.

"Yes, because generally when I take my eyes off you you do something stupid. Hence the jail, so I can go back to work. If you'll excuse me-" He turned swiftly down the hall, before exiting the building, but not before shooting me a sweet smile.

"I don't know if I should be offended by the way you said that or...?" A smile continued to play at my lips.

"It's not like you're unattractive, Locke. It's just that I'm more attractive. Don't take it personally, it's an everyone problem." Jacob leaned against the bars of the jail as he spoke, a goofy grin on his face.

I rolled my eyes. "Stop talking before you hurt yourself."

It was like he was practicing for stand up all the time. Except worst, because there weren't even a few decent jokes. Yet I still smiled.

"What did I miss this time?" Nicole strolled up besides me with Callie in tow.

"Oh Jacob just made himself look like a fool again."

"If I do it one more time I finish off my punch card!" Jacob exclaimed. I ignored him.

"Wish I could have seen it."

"It wasn't anything special. A bit of light trespassing. Although, Jacob did flirt with that Carter guy just now and that was pretty entertaining." I said.

Her face fell. "Oh. Cool."

"You okay?"

Callie eyed her carefully. "Nic was in such a good mood."

Nicole glared at us. "I'm still in a good mood. Shut up. I just think Jacob's stupid is all."

"Don't we all." Jacob said.

"Shut up. Anyway are we just gonna hang around the jail or are we going to actually do something useful because so far you've only seemed to hang around the jail." Nicole crosses her arms with a huff.

"Right, let's get out of here." And by here I meant both the jail and Baltia.

I walked out with the two of them.

"Guys, aren't you gonna keep me company? Guys?"

We ignored Jacob's exclamations. He needed some alone time. And we needed to plan. Away from prying ears.

Sorry about the delays. College has been hectic and totally messed up my writing schedule. From now on I'll be updating on Wednesdays and possibly Saturdays but I can't promise twice weekly updates anymore. Thanks for reading!
