Chapter 13: Lost
Dipper ran as fast as his feet could carry him, although he stumbled and fell along the way.
Thorns and branches tore at his clothes and pricked his skin.
Tears of confusion and frustration gleamed in his chestnut-brown eyes under the moonlight. He didn't know what was going on or how to handle it.
He hoped that maybe if he kept running he could escape it all. But he knew that no matter how far he ran, everything would come crashing back down on him, harder and heavier than it was right then and there.
When he couldn't run anymore, he collapsed by a stump in a foggy clearing. His chest rose and fell heavily as he tried to catch his breath.
His breaths were shaky and he felt as if he had been punched in the gut.
Dipper closed his eyes and curled into a ball, wishing all of his problems could disappear- that he could disappear.
Dipper cried himself to sleep and woke again after what felt like only a few minutes. When he opened his eyes, the world around him was black and white and slightly fuzzy, almost like a black and white television set.
Once his vision cleared, Dipper saw he was laying in a log cabin. It was raining outside and he could hear thunder and see lightning crackle in the distance. He examined the room he was in, which was empty and smelled strongly of mildew.
Dipper could hear maniacal laughter echoing throughout the room. He shakily stood to find where the laughter came from.
The laughter grew higher and higher in pitch until Dipper was cringing and was forced to plug his ears with his hands.
A dark vortex appeared on the ceiling. It was a swirling, gaping black hole with lightning flashing inside.
Something was coming from inside the vortex.
Dipper braced himself for whatever horror might come before him. A bright purple light appeared from deep inside the vortex. Dipper closed his eyes and shielded his face from whatever was coming.
The sound of the rain and lightning stopped.
The room was silent.
Dipper looked up to find a small one-eyed, glowing yellow triangle wearing a top hat and a bow tie floating in front of him. The triangle let out another ring of laughter.
(Dipper wondered how the triangle could laugh when it had no mouth)
"Well if it isn't Dipper Pines!" The triangle exclaimed, "Nice to finally meet ghost boy in the flesh, ha! In the flesh!" it slapped it's knee and burst into hysterics.
"how do you know my name?" Dipper asked, not sure how to react to the being.
"Oh, I know lots of things!" The triangle said, floating closer to Dipper then standing in front of him,
"You're scared to death of uncertainty!"
The triangle snapped his fingers and a second triangle appeared.
"You're real name isn't Dipper!" the second triangle said then snapped his fingers, causing a third copy of the triangle to appear.
"...and, oh this is interesting!" the third thought to himself before stating, "you have a crush on this red-headed cashier girl!"
"Ooh ooh! Gimme details, gimme details!" The second triangle exclaimed. The three gathered into a group circle and whispered back and forth.
"Oh, that is scandalous!" The first triangle exclaimed while stifling laughter.
"DUDE! WHAT DO YOU WANT?!" Dipper exclaimed, face flushed a deep red out of utter embarrassment.
"Oh right." The original triangle said, then snapped his fingers once more, causing the copies to disappear altogether.
"Name's Bill Cipher!" Bill said, tipping his hat.
"I've been keeping an eye on you ever since your first day in town, and I gotta say I'm impressed!"
"What?"
"You've got some real talent with those ghosty powers of yours." Bill said, nonchalantly examining his hand as if he were examining fingernails.
"I wouldn't call it a talent..." Dipper mumbled.
Bill slowly looked up, stretching his arm out and pulling Dipper close to his side.
"Oh, but it is!" Bill exclaimed reassuringly,
"And I'm ready to offer you a deal you can't refuse!" he was talking like a person trying to sell an infomercial product.
"Okay..." Dipper said hesitantly.
"I'll train you to use your powers in a way that you could never comprehend, and in exchange I'll just need...hmm...how about one human soul?"
Dipper thought about this for less than a second before replying "No way, man."
"Oh." Bill said, scratching the point under his top hat. He didn't seem to have a plan B.
"How about instead...I...uh...help you out of the mind-scape?" he offered.
"Out of the what?"
"Welcome to the mind-scape, kid!" Bill said, sweeping his arms across the room. "It's the dream world separate from reality."
"And I see that you have a little problem- do you know how to leave the mind-scape?"
"No..." Dipper said slowly.
"Exactly, now I'll get you a one way ticket out of this joint if you lend me a favor later in the future."
"What kind of favor?"
"Hold your horses kid, one detail at a time. That's now my deals work."
When Bill saw Dipper was hesitating, he let out a long sigh, "Oh well, guess you're just gonna be stuck here, with me, forever."
"Forever?" Dipper echoed, wincing at the thought.
"Forever." Bill nodded.
"Um...okay, fine. It's a deal." Dipper said, turning to face Bill, holding out a hand to seal the deal.
Bill cracked his knuckles in preparation, "Alrighty then, Pine Tree" he said, grabbing Dipper's hand.
"See ya in your nightmares, kid!"
Bill tipped his hat and winked as he shook Dipper's hand, then he paused "Oh wait, you can't tell that I'm blinking. Since there's only one eye...oh well, later, kid- bye!!!!"
The black and white world disappeared around him until Dipper was suddenly falling through open sky.
"AAAAAAAAGHHHHH!" he screamed, closing his eyes to prepare himself for the impact of hitting the ground. The impact never came and Dipper woke up in his bed in the attic. When he looked across the room he found Mabel was still asleep.
Thunder boomed and lightning lit up the triangular window by his bed.
Dipper heaved a breath of relief and wiped his brow, "...it was just a dream..."
When he lowered his hand he found writing on the palm of his left hand. The writing read:
THE DREAM IS REAL -BILL
Dipper let out a quiet gasp, then noticed more writing below what he had just read:
P.S. LOOK AT WHAT I DID TO YOUR OTHER HAND...
Dipper held his breath as he slowly lifted up his left hand:
LOOK- A TURKEY!
There was a turkey drawn on his left hand.
. . . . . . . .
A/N:
Yeah that's right, Bill's finally here!
Ta-dah!
If you weren't expecting this- Come on, this wouldn't be a Gravity Falls fanfiction without Bill.
(If you haven't realize yet, the mysterious one-sided chapters were/are written in Bill's POV these chapters include Watching waiting, I'm Still Listening, a Pawn For a Pawn, etc.)
And yes the last scene in this chapter is the deleted "Bill's Original Introduction" scene. If you've never seen or heard of it then look it up on YouTube. (It's hilarious)
And I know what you guys are thinking, "Cath, this story is really freaking morbid and you need to stop."

I'm gonna warn you guys again that It only gets worse from this point.
