Journey (1) (Bill Temple)


The red sunset, cast an ominous glow over the town.


Sagebrush.


He moved his shoulders, trying to elevate the pain. The wound had healed, but the pain remained.

And the scars were buried deep.


Late at night, alone, out on the desert, the coyote howls reminded him of the screams.


The image burned into his mind.

His wife.

His daughter.

The screams amid the roaring blaze, that had once been his home.


There was nothing he could do, but lay there, paralyzed by fear and the bullets that had pierced his body.


The screaming stopped.


"Maybe here, my journey ends."
