||Chapter 24!!||

||Y/n's P.o.v||

We all cleared out of the classroom, and Asano and Koro Sensei took our places inside. Principal Asano moved some of the desks around to form a semicircle, while he moved the rest of the desks to the back of the class. He put books on each desk and one chair in front of each desk. Just by looking through the window, I couldn't tell what kind of books they  were.

"Now then, Koro Sensei..." he said, "If you don't want to be fired, if you want to protect this classroom, I'll have you join me in a little gamble.

'A gamble...' I thought. I wondered where he was going with this.

"I've prepared five subjects's worth of test questions and five hand grenades.Four of them are anti Sensei grenades; one works on humans. They're the real deal." Principal Asano said, picking up one of the canisters that was on the first desk in the semicircle.

He held up the grenade to show Koro Sensei,

"They're all identical in appearance and smell, ad made such that, once their pins are pulled, they'll explode the moment their handles begin to raise."

Principal Asano then grabbed onto the pin of the grenade he was holding as if he was going to pull it. I grabbed onto Karma's sleeve in fright, I didn't want to get blown up. Asano then pulled the pin saying,

"I've pulled their pins and placed them carefully between random pages in the test books, handles in place. You will open the books and solve the problem at the top right. " He explained.

"As soon as he opens it, the handle will pop up and—" Haru began.

"Yes, he'll almost certainly be hit with an explosion." Asano finished her sentence, "But he can't move an inch until he solves that problem."

Principal Asano looked back at sweating Koro Sensei,

"You'll handle the first four books, while I'll take the last one. If you manage to kill me or force me to withdraw, I will permit you and the E Class to remain here." He explained.

'What the..." I thought, 'This is basically suicide!! A...notebook roulette!!' I concluded in my head. Principal Asano had more to say though,

"Let's see...Ah, Terasaka." he said, "Use a formula to find Koro Sensei's odds of winning."

Begrudgingly, he replied,

"An anti Sensei grenade explosion wonn't kill you...To do that, we'd need to save the real grenade till the end. ⅘ times ¾ times ⅔ times ½ equals ⅕. Twenty percent." he said.

"Correct!" Principal Asano gave him the okay hand sign.

"But the octopus has to take four deadly grenades in a row," Terasaka continued, "and you can just safely tap out as soon as it gets ugly. This is ridiculously unfair!" He pointed out.

"Terasaka...You'll find that the world is just one injustice after another. Especially between the weak and the strong."

Principal Asano put his hand on Koro Sensei's shoulder which made him jump in fright. He then continued to speak, saying, "That's why I've taught you to be the strong ones." Asano didn't let go of Koro Sensei's shoulder, but instead turned to face him, "So, will you give it a try?" He asked happily and calmly.

"It's also a test of how serious you are about your chosen profession." Asano added, "If I were you, I'd jump right in."

When he said that last part I jumped a bit. His aura...was extremely intimidated. I felt myself grip Karma's sleeve even tighter... The whole class was silent as we waited for Koro Sensei's answer.

"Of course." Koro Sensei replied, "Let's do it."

I was not comforted by this. Not only was it a bad idea in general, but Koro Sensei did not seem confident at all!!

Koro Sensei sat at the first desk, and I felt my eyes water in anticipation and fear. "Don't do it, sir..." I muttered. I knew there was no backing out for him though...Asano walked over to the classroom doorway and crossed his arms while he smiled triumphantly.

"Open and solve, then close—do it all at once and it won't explode..."

Even though I was still fighting back tears, I couldn't help but think, 'Did he just rhyme??'

"With your speed, it may even be easy."

"Y-yes, of co—of course!!" Koro Sensei was quick to respond.

Koro Sensei stared at the first book, I think it was geometry...He looked hesitant and nervous and I couldn't help but feel the same way. After a long pause, Koro Sensei finally opened up the book and instantly became panicked. He put his tenteclas to his head and said, "Um, well, that's an easy one—it's, you know, that thing where you borrow from the tens to get with 3 with 4 left over, or say about 3 or so—"

The canister exploded, and we all ducked for cover. When I looked back up...Koro Sensei's face was  melted... 'Oh no...'

"First one is a hit. Make it through three more and you win." Principal Asano encouraged him. He held up the paper again, "Now, solve the next, before you recover."

"You're kidding me! He can't take three more of those!" Yoshida expressed his concerns.

"Is he really going to get taken down by such a simple setup?" Muramatsu wondered.

Principal Asano then interjected by saying,

"The weak can only kill the strong through assassination, but the strong can kill the weak whenever and however they like. I wallpaper the nation with mechanisms to teach this truth. With money from the ministry of Defense and the bounty from killing you, I can build my affiliate schools all over the country."

I watched through the classroom in horror...How could a man like this be running our school?? He's a complete menace!!

Koro Sensei weakly went on to the next book, his tentacles grasped the cover. I bit my finger nails vigorously as I helpless watched on.

"Now, Koro Sensei...be the cornerstone of my philosophy." Principal Asano told him.

Koro Sensei opened up the next book and closed it almost immediately. I was confused to say the least, from where I was standing, he didn't even pick up the pencil.

"Okay!" He said, "Opened, solved, and closed!!"

He then faced the desk he was standing at again and continued his little speech, "I more or less remember which questions are on which page in this particular series of test books. Math was the only challenge. I'd lent it out to Y/n for so long that I'd forgotten." He exclaimed. I jumped when he said that, and blushed when I heard Karma snicker.

"Koro Sensei!! Why would you say that!!!" I hissed.

My classmates also glanced at me because he had called me out but then turned their attention back onto our melting teacher. Koro Sensei didn't respond to me because Principal Asano decided to speak instead,

"You just happened to have memorized the books I just happened to bring?" Asano asked.

"Heavens, no! I've memorized all of Japan's test books. 'No moving out of the blast radius until you've solved the problem'? A rule that is no trouble for a passionate educator." Koro Sensei explained, " and here I thought you understood me..."

Koro Sensei then went to the next desk and flipped it open and shut in a matter of seconds.

"But is seems your students' defeat has unnerved you." Koro Sensei practically taunted out principal.

He then opened and shut another book. "You've dug your own grave with this simplistic assassination." Koro Sensei added. He then opened and shut the 3rd out 4 test books. We all knew what that meant,

"The last book...It's your turn." Koro Sensei remind Asano.

I was practically leaning inside the classroom from the window to get a better look at what was happening. If Karma hadn't grabbed the back of my shirt, I would have fallen in.

"What's it feel like, having your own death before your eyes?" Koro Sensei asked Asano as Karma pulled me back outside, "That grand kaleidoscope glimpsed in the moments before death...What could be flashing through that perfect mind of yours?"

I thanked Karma for helping me, but then slapped his hands off of my shirt since he was still holding on me. I then turned my head back towards the classroom and watched as Principal Asano's life seemed to flashing through his eyes. Like Koro Sesnei, I too wondered what he could have been thinking about. He looked stoic like he was reflecting on everything he had done up until this point.

Koro Sensei cut through the silence, saying, "Well, Principal Asano? Will you open the final book? No matter how superb you may be, opening a grenade filled test book will not end well."

"Hey, this was your wager!" Yoshida called out from the window, "If you don't wanna die, just gracefully admit defeat!"

All principal Asano did was glance in Yoshida's direction, but it was enough to send him clinging onto Takaoka, who quickly pushed him away by his face, "Yikes!" she said, "And besides, we don't care if you fire Koro Sensei!"

"It'll be said to leave this place behind, but we'll go where Koro Sensei goes." Kanzaki agreed.

Even Maehara added in, saying,

"Even if it means leaving home or holing up in some mountain, we'll keep the assassination classroom going until March."

In my head, I agreed with him.

Principal Asano looked away from our class once more and turned his attention to Koro Sensei.

"Koro Sensei," Asano said, "Under my educational philosophy, you could very well destroy the Earth and it wouldn't matter."

Principal Asano then grabbed the cover of the last book, and...he opened it entirely. Some of my classmates, including myself, gasped at this bold action.

Just like principal Asano had said at the beginning, the grenade went off instantly. A flash of light quickly filled the classroom, making it impossible for anyone to see anything. It wasn't until the light dimmed down and our eyes adjusted that we were able to see what had become of our principal. Smoke filled the classroom, and traveled through the windows, hitting me and everyone else in the face. Smoke traveled into my lungs and I instantly began hacking, and waving smoke out of my face. I heard Koro Sensei do his signature chuckle and I forced my eyes open.

"Have you forgotten my molt?" Koro Sensei asked.

"Your once-monthly trick, eh?" I heard my principal say, "Why didn't you use it on yourself?"

Hearing my principal speak let met know that he was able to survive the blast even though Koro Sensei was blocking him from where he was standing. Although I didn't like the guy, I was glad he was alive and seemingly unharmed. Koro Sensei appeared to be folding up the molted skin he used to protect Principal Asano.

"I was saving it for you." Koro Sensei said, "If I'd won, there's no doubt you'd have opted to blow yourself up."

Finally I was able to see the principal when he rose to his feet,

"How can you be so sure what I'd do?" Principal Asano asked.

"Because we have so much in common." Koro Sensei told him, "We're both educational fiends, aiming for perfection in teaching even if it means using your own life. I talked to your old cram school students during the exams. About their impressions of you as a teacher, about what happened..."

I made a face, 'What happened? What does that mean?' I wondered. Koro Sensei continued,

"The educational ideals I pursue are identical to yours a dozen years back. Where I've been luck, compared to you, is with the E class. Because there are a fair number of students and because they share the same circumstances, they came together to withstand training and can ask each other for advice without holding things in. And, Principal Asano, it's none other than you who made this E Class. You've unconsciously been carrying on the ideal education you came up with long ago."

Koro Sensei hell up one of our green knives with a cloth and showed it to Asano before he carried on with yet another one of his heartfelt and long winded speeches,

"I'm the only one this knife can kill." He said, "We do not teach the theft of human life. You and I share the same ideals: not killing education, but one that lets live. Let's keep following through with our ideal education."

Koro Sensei held out the knife to Principal Asano. I felt myself tearing up because of how beautifully Koro Sensei had yet again articulated one of his speeches. I wondered what Asano's reaction to it would be and if he would kill the mood or not. After a few seconds, Principal Asano took the knife and spoke,

"My philosophy is always correct. I've turned out a great number of strong students these past dozen years. But now you've acknowledged my system as well, so I will deign to permit this E Class to remain. " He said.

Koro Sensei let out another nefarious chuckle. "Still can't simply admit defeat, I see." Koro Sensei pointed out jokingly.

Principal held onto the tip of the knife, and said,

"Oh, and...May I come by and kill you now and then?" He asked.

"Of course!" Koro Sensei told him, "That knife suits a worthy rival well."

There was a smile on Asano's face, one that seemed genuine this time. Finally, I couldn't keep my tears in any longer. Principal Asano's character development was just too beautiful for me to ignore!! I wrapped my arms around Nagisa's shoulders and started crying while I hugged him from behind,

"Nagisa, we should make up too!! I'm sorrrrrryyyyy!!" I sobbed.

Nagisa let out a chuckle,

"We were fighting??" He asked.

I couldn't tell if he was joking or not, so I cried harder. Hopefully he forgot about the whole kiss thing like I wanted.

Back in the classroom, when Principal Asano left, we all stood around Koro Sensei, "Where's our reward for the exams?" Kurahashi asked.

"Oh, right! I promised to tell you my crucial weakness, didn't I?" He approved.

Koro Sensei paused which kept us all holding our breaths. Koro Sensei then continued,

"In fact, I have surprisingly little power. I'm too specialized for speed. When I'm at a standstill, even a single human can hold back one of my tentacles." He explained.

"So, if we all locked down all of your tentacles..." Hara began.

"We could stop you from moving?" Nakamuara finished.

And just like that, the classroom started to spiral into chaos, as most of the students charged at Koro Sensei's tentacles.Even I jumped at him to try and get one.

"If we could do that, this would be a cakewalk!" Terasaka shouted over all the other students.

I agreed, which is why when I finally got a hold onto one of them I got excited, "I got one!! I got one!!" I exclaimed.

"Me too!!" Fuwa shouted.

Koro Sensei turned white in fear, while Terasaka said,

"You only told us 'cause you knew it was impossible, octopus!"

Although I was grabbing onto one of Koro Sesnei's gross tentacles, it wasn't long before he started turning me upside down. Still though, I persevered and held on like my life depend on it.

"N/n-chan!! If you hold on any longer, the whole class will see your underwear!!" Karma called out to me.

Instantly, I felt heat rush to my face, and without thinking I let go of Koro Sensei to pull down my skirt. That was a mistake, because now I was no longer holding onto Koro Sensei, so I fell off  him. Luckily, I didn't hit the ground, because my night in shining armor, Nagisa caught me with ease. He was blushing a bit, which made me think he got a sneak peak at something he wasn't supposed to. This made me blush too, but turns out he was blushing for a different reason.

"So, since when were we fighting?" He asked.

I didn't want to talk about this now...His hand was under my skirt. "Nagisa..." I told him somberly, "Please put me down..."
