Chapter 1

"Jen!! Wake up!" A voice yelled from outside the white door of a young girl's dorm room.

Lying on the couch she slept on, Jennifer groans tiredly.
"Gimme a couple minutes, Zena." She sniffed, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
"Jen, we're going to be late for classes!" The voice, Zena, replied.
That was a lie, of course, as it was only six AM and they had classes in four hours.
"Ugh, just go on with Andrew and leave me!" She exclaims, stuffing her face back into the pillow.
When she no longer heard any ruckus outside, Jen sighed peacefully. Thank god—

Jingle, jingle.

The door is loudly whipped open. "Haha! I knew I didn't forget it!"
Standing in front of the door stood a ginger-haired girl. Her hair was cut rather short, square glasses sat on the bridge of her nose, and she wore a red flannel jacket over a mainstream video-game T-shirt. Hands on both sides of her waist, Zena yells again. "Rise and shine, lazyass!!"
Jen groans again, sitting up from the couch as she ran a hand over her short, messy brown hair. "God I fucking hate you."
Despite saying this, she was giggling a bit. Zena took this as a good sign, goes over, and pulls Jennifer off the couch. "C'mon, if you dress fast enough, we might be able to catch Andrew before he leaves the coffee shop!"
The brunette nods, feeling much more awake now that her best friend was here. "Sure, sure, give me a moment get ready. And close the door man."

With that, Jennifer goes into her bathroom to freshen up as Zena closes the door. The ginger hums, walking around her friend's dorm room.
"Hey, where's Toshi?" She asks, realizing Jen's roommate wasn't here.
Jen, who had just washed her face, grabs a face-towel and wipes it clean before answering.
"Probably out with Madeline again. You know how they are, aha." She replies, laughing as she put toothpaste on her toothbrush.
Zena snickered. "On a date again, huh~?"
She heard the younger girl brushing her teeth, so she didn't wait for a response. "Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out they were dating this whole time. You see how close they are!"
The ginger, done walking around, sighed and sat on the couch once again.

Her head turns towards the bathroom door as Jennifer stepped out and went straight for her closet.
"Oooo, you should totally wear that golden-black varsity jacket of yours!" Zena exclaims as Jen opens her closet.
The brunette thinks for a moment, before shrugging. "Sure, haven't worn that thing since last year's summer bash."
Jen pulls the varsity jacket out, along with a gray tank-top and jeans. She looks over her shoulder to Zena. "Avert your eyes or whatever."
Zena gives a thumbs-up, but honestly these two have know each other long enough not to get embarrassed when one's change  in front of the other.
Not really caring, Jen pulls off her shirt with ease and slips on the grey tanktop over her bra.
The ginger girl, already turned away, hummed as she tapped the couch in a beat. "This weekend, wanna watch a movie?"
The brunette struggles a little to put on her jeans, but succeeds. "Oh definitely, new zombie movie'll be out by then and we gotta check it out!"

Finally, Jen puts a clip on and grabs her backpack.
"'Kay loser, i'm all set you can stop being bored now."
Zena jumps out of the couch once again, picking up her own back. "Yes finally!!"
She grabs Jennifer and pulls her towards the door. "To the Glazed Donut Cafe!! We can still catch up to Andy if we run!!"
"H-Hey, I still need to lock the door!!"
------
The poor lad didn't see it coming, but thank god he didn't order his coffee yet. As the doors of the cafe open wide and the welcoming bells ring loudly, a male with chocolate-brown hair looked up from his phone. Like a goddamn cheetah, a very fast ginger tackled him, clinging on like there was no tomorrow. "ACK-!! Zena?!" Andrew exclaimed in confusion.
"Hell yeah it's me jackass!" The shorter girl replied with a grin.

Jennifer followed in, hand on her mouth, laughing lightly as people stared at Andrew attempt to pry Zena off. A cough came from a female barista and the three looked at her.
She sighed tiredly. "Sir, if you and your girfriend continue to make a ruckus, we'll have to ask you both to leave."
Andy flushed as the ginger finally lets go of him as she hops over to an empty table. "I- I'm sorry, I- uh-"
Fixing her cap, the barista stops him, moving her blonde hair to the side. "It's just early, no need to apologize. Now, what's your order?"
"Oh! R-right!" With that Andy orders his coffee, makes way for Jen to order, and sits with Zena at the table.

"You didn't say I wasn't your girlfriend~" She teased,  poking his cheek.
The brunet huffed, swatting her hand away. "I was more embarassed we made a scene rather than you being called my girlfriend, weirdo."
Zena smiles widely. "I'm so telling Jen that you're okay with me being called your girlfriend."
His face paled at that. "Dude no she practically knows all of the creative writing department—"
Suddenly, Jen comes back with a coffee cake. "Talking about me, losers? Let me get our coffees real quick!"
------
The rest of the morning before classes were spent talking, teasing, and almost getting kicked out of the cafe. Overall, it was a fun start to the day.
Andy checked his watch and cursed. "Shit, ten minutes before the bell rings."
Zena groans, pouting. "Ughhh nooooo! Why, time, why!!"
Laughing, Jen stood up. "Well, wanna meet back here for lunch?"
The brunet nods, picking up his backpack. "I'm up for it."
The ginger cheered. "Hell yeah! Let's bring Marie with us too!!"

As the trio got up to head for their class departments, a man fell over and his head slammed hard on the edge of the table. Eveyone in the cafe yelled in surprise, but the two girls didn't notice. Only Andrew saw.
"Oh my god!" He exclaimed, turning to see if he's okay.
Before he could bend down, a hand stopped him. "Don't worry, young man. I'll take care of this." A man with round glasses smiled kindly. "You kids should go to your classes, your future's more important."
Andy hesitated, but nodded. He walked slowly out the door, looked over once more, then ran to catch up with his friends.

It's a shame that's the last he'll see of the Glazed Cafe in a humane state.
