Chapter Seven
*ꜰʟᴀꜱʜʙᴀᴄᴋ*
"DVP?" I mumbled looking at the doctor with teary eyes.
The doctor in green scrubs nodded before reaching out to lightly touch my shoulder.
"I am so sorry Miss Phillips."
That was the last thing I heard before everything started spinning around me. The nurses in white dresses running through the hospital corridor were all blurry. The rolling trolleys sounded like bass in my ears. Cries and groans of people were nearly audible. Spots of blackness begin eating my sight, as a face, looked down at me. My heart was hammering through my chest, my hand tugging at it. I tried so hard gaining control on my heavy breaths. I let myself squat on the floor.
"Sophia?" I felt two arms taking me in their warmth. His chest was vibrating through me as he kept saying my name and shaking me. "Stay with me, baby. I am here."
"Bring water." A vague voice shouted through my ear, making hundreds of feet rushing and bending down next to me.
"Sophia?"
She's gone.
My heavy body crumbled out of the strong arms, in a tight ball, I felt the cold floor beneath my cheek.
My mother is gone.
*Back*
My mouth was gaping, staring at a white wall.
"Zoe?" A thin hand waved in front of my face. I felt sweat building up on my forehead, my heart pounding. I could hear it thumping with the rhythm of the ticking clock.
"Zoe? Are you okay? Should I call the hot moose?" The last word interrupted my thoughts, my gaze shifted from the blank wall to Violet's winking face.
I sighed, running my hand on my face, with trembling fingers. I closed my eyes processing what Violet just said to me.
DVP
A deadly virus that's all we know about it.
"I know you are worried, but Zoe I have hope." She looked at me with troubled eyes. I closed my mouth into a grim line.
"The doctor said there's some cure, they are still researching." She said with a tight- smile.
"It's a Deadly virus Violet," I stated as my mind was running through the past event.
"Yes, I know Zoe but as long as there is hope, I just-" She looked down at her hands.
"Hope." She shrugged, pouting her lips, ready to cry.
I shake my head before leaving my seat and crouching down next to her.
"You are going to be okay Vi, I promise." I hold her hand as a tear ran down her cheek.
"You are a good friend Zo." She smiled, sniffling her tear.
"I know." She chuckled.
"An arrogant friend too." We both laughed, this time.
My mind pulled as I now felt bad because I'm not a good friend, I'm a fake one.

The ceiling light was off, only making the moon and the street light make their way through my full-on windows office. The light was dim, the darkness made me feel comfortable and safe.
Tall electric lamps on the streets made the figures walking in and out of the building look like shadows. The silver moon was high in the sky giving off a light that sat on tree branches. Trees danced as the wind kept pushing them, making the leaves fly out of their places.
I took a deep breath looking down at the scene. Feeling a pain building up in my stomach.
I didn't go back home, scared to be alone. Alone in my thoughts, in my past without anyone to hold on to.
Wood scent washed the cold thin air, with audible footsteps, the person walked his way next to me. My body shivered, at the instant warmth that fell in the room.
"We need to talk."
I looked up at the eased-out person at my side.
How can someone be this perfect?
I said as I watched him intently, his eyes were glistening as the moonlight rushed through them. I could now see the specks of greyness as they grow around his pupil. His long lashes were fluttering as his eyebrows were relaxed.
He wasn't looking at the view, no, he was looking at me with pure admiration. Making the world stop around us. The people on the street froze in their spots and the trees were still moving but very slowly. We stood there in silence gazing at each other.
He suddenly smiled a full-on grin. I admit it, was contagious as I felt my lips pull up. Then it turned into awkward chuckles, that filled the room and the empty halls.
We stopped once he cleared his throat, looking away.
"What did you need to talk about?" I asked, watching him looking down at the floor.
After a few seconds, he untied his red tie and unbuttoned his white shirt. My eyes were wide open. I stared as if he'd just produced a rhinoceros from his pocket. I felt explosive sparks in my brain. He was staring down at his now naked chest before pointing at a small scar above it.
I looked at it for a second before seeing two letters tattooed above it.
S.P
I stared in silence as I examined every detail of his naked body part, before making eye contact with him. His eyebrows were now furrowed as he was searching for words.
"It's the SIM." His voice came out hoarse.
My hand without thinking reached out to where the scar was, he stiffened a little before taking a deep breath.
"What does S.P stands for?" I asked, confused as my fingers tingled at the connection. He didn't respond right away, he left me confused gazing at his God like body.
I looked up at him again, finding that he was observing me and his eyes were way darker. His Adam apple was jumping up, in each passing second.
"It's the name of my first love." His hard voice made me tremble, his lips moved slowly as he spoke.
"The one I was damned to kill."
