De Case
Marley's POV
I felt so happy to be saved. The only problem that i had was the fact that someone had to prove that my father was murdered and not that he died by an accident.
I was hospitalised for a week and was released for the case that was holding at the court. I walked in but the case had already began. The defendant for the murderer stood up to argue the case that he didn't do anything. I was so angry.
Especially when Vincent Keller turned to look at me. He had an evil grin on his face, Boy, i am going to get out of this case easily. You see that public defender, she's so good at her job. I read his thoughts. I wasn't so happy so i picked up a paper and wrote exactly what he said and rose up my hands.
My paper was received and was read out loud to the whole court. Then, everyone turned to look at me wondering how i knew what he was saying. I couldn't talk because i had bruises on my lips and my mouth was swollen. Also i was so scared to talk.
I wrote on another paper explaining to them that i could read mindhe . Laughing after reading the paper, his lawyer just said, "Now he's claiming to have the ability of reading minds. How can we listen to what a small boy says when there's no evidence?"
My heart was hurt. No one believed me. Dad I'm so sorry. I knew there was no evidence to show that he killed my dad and even tried to kill me.
Just when the Judge was about to state his judgement, someone opened the door. We turned to look at her. She was familiar.
She was my saviour. The girl that stopped Vincent from killing me. She looked at me when she was beside me, her eyes were trembling with fear.
I just held her hand to assure her that all was going to be well. She gathered all courage and waved her phone to the courtroom.
"I have evidence. I took a picture of him hitting the man with an iron pipe." Her eyes trailed to him as she spoke out.
The Judge asked the lawyer to collect the phone from her and bring it forward to him. While she was moving closer to the lawyer to give her the phone, Vincent jumped from his chair, over the table towards her.
He was trying to strangle her as she screamed and was fighting for release. "I told you to shut up your mouth!"he barked. "I promised that i was going to kill you, everyone dear to you and everyone that listened to what you said!!! And i am going to keep that promise!!"he kept shouting while he was been dragged away by the policemen.
She was trying to regain consciousness of what just happened. The Judge gave his judgement of sentencing him to 10 years imprisonment.
I was very happy that the cause of my fathers death was revealed. I knew that i could rest now. Also my fathers soul. I walked out of the courtroom to look for her. I mean my saving grace.
She sat outside, in front of a garden crying. I didn't know the reason that made her cry but i just walked over to her side.
I patted her back, telling her it was going to be okay. "I promise to protect you from him when he is released. I won't let him hurt you. I am very sorry for putting you to this and i am also very grateful for your confession." I just blurted out those words.
She turned to look at me with her teary eyes. "You can talk. Why didn't you talk in there?"she asked. "I am still a small kid. I tried though but nobody believed me." I said still patting her back.
Nodding her head she just gave me a half-hearted smile and stood up. "I had to do it because of my conscience wouldn't allow me to be free. I couldn't let someone like him be acquitted."
"Thanks so much. My name is Marley Barnes. And you're?"
"Viola McPherson. Take care of yourself kid."
"I will. And i will still keep my promise to protect you in the future Viola." I said smiling at her.
She returned the smile back and left.
