- ELEVEN -

James' senses were starting to come back slowly and painfully. His neck was hurting badly; a bruise was formed on the spot that the needle went through. His eyes opened, his eyesight blurry. The room was too bright for him, making him let a groan. The harbour grey walls felt sinister, almost choking him. The light above his head made him feel like he was in one of these detective movies. His hands were tied behind the chair he was sitting on with solid rope; struggling did nothing. He licked his lips, trying to understand where he was, his mind being just blank. The last thing he could remember was that he was on that rooftop, ready to kill Mason when he disappeared from his sight and appeared "magically" right behind him. He didn't know what Mason used to drug him, but it was pretty intense. He lied back, understanding he fucked up for one more time, but this one, there was no one to save him.

The door across the room opened suddenly, a tall man coming standing there with his hands behind his back. James couldn't understand who it was because of the bright light; all he could see was a black suit and a pair of dark Oxford shoes.

"Wakey, wakey James."

James groaned, hearing the male voice. He rolled his eyes understanding it was Mason. Mason moved closer to him, his shoes echoing through the empty room. He stood in front of him, solemn before grinning a bit.

"Oh, it's you. Again. What a surprise."

"Did ya like the dog tranquillizer?"

James growled, trying to move. The dizziness wasn't over yet, and his mouth was still dry. More side effects of the tranquillizer were hitting him every minute; James wasn't at his best. Mason knew he could kill him by using something that wasn't meant for humans but didn't care.

"You little- "

"Uh uh uh... watch that dirty mouth of yours."

Mason wiggled his index finger right and left, grinning widely. James was struggling, trying to stand up, clenching his teeth. Mason chuckled. Another pair of footsteps filled the room out of a sudden. James stared at Felix, who fixed the watch on his hand before sighing softly.

"Hello, James"

"Hello, fellow human who almost broke my nose and bruised my arm harshly."

Felix laughed at James' comment. Even in a situation like this, he didn't seem to lose his humour.

"Who sent you, James."

"None of your business."

"Is it Deetra?"

James growled, concentrating on the name; Mason didn't look like he was messing around.

Felix moved his hand, shaking James' phone in the air gently, his eyes stuck on it in seconds.

"A person has called you thirteen times, the last call being half an hour ago. You have saved it as "D" plus a heart emoji in your contacts. Care to explain?"

"I have nothing to explain to you both; you're not my parents or anything."

"Oh, it's probably Deetra."

Mason added, looking at Felix and then at James. He kneeled, moving closer to James with a smirk.

"You got jealous, didn't ya? The way she was moving and rubbing against me and not you."

He whispered, his hand resting on his lap.

"I'm going to chop off your head the moment I'll be free from here."

James whispered back; the anger on his face was visible. Felix sighed, staring intensely at James.

"Anyways, you probably know Damon Hopkins, James. I need you to call him now."

"Give me a good reason to do it."

"If you don't, I'll put my people to unlock your phone and call Deetra. During the call, I'll find her location, and then boom, there goes your beloved girlfriend."

"Who the fuck are you people."

James' eyes were on both of them. He had stopped struggling here, and for some minutes, he looked so confused. He knew Mason was something dangerous but had no idea for the guy beside him.

"Mason, stay out for a bit, please."

"But boss -"

"Go."

Mason growled but stepped outside of the room, closing the door behind him. He wanted to get back in and stay with Felix, but he wasn't letting him have a piece of the action. He tried to listen to what Felix was saying, but he couldn't understand. Mason groaned, going back to his office and sitting down, staring at his computer. He had a picture of him and Abigail as the wallpaper, and a wave of sadness took over him the moment he faced it. He was missing her dearly and couldn't wait to see her stupid cute face again. The man lied back, closing his eyes; Abigail's presence was still fresh in his brain. He could smell her perfume, hear her silly laugh echoing in his ears. He opened his eyes again, realizing she's not here with him. Mason flinched, clenching on his chair with all his force. Damon took away the only thing he ever wanted. Abigail was by his side now. He started feeling regret; he shouldn't have left her behind that night at the party. If he had stayed, didn't get scared by Deetra's words, maybe she would be here right now with him. He had no idea what's going on or that Felix had been in contact with Abigail two times.

Meanwhile, Felix was walking in circles around James, his arms behind his back. His face was back in a serious one; James' eyes scanned each of his movements and actions.

"So what -"

"I'll give you the information you want, James."

He grabbed another chair in the corner of the room and pushed it in front of James but at a safe distance so he won't try to attack him. James chuckled, leaning back; Felix sat down elegantly, crossing his legs. They were both staring at each other for a couple of seconds before James noticed something on Felix's left hand.

"At least you didn't lie; you are married."

"I would never lie for my marriage unless if I wanted to be found dead."

James laughed before licking his lips as they were too dry for him to speak more. Felix leaned on his thighs, moving his face closer to James'.

"Do you have kids?"

"No."

"Planning to have any?"

"For sure. Kids are a blessing."

"Kids are a fucking curse."

James rolled his eyes, trying to stretch his back; Felix chuckled, his fingers playing with his wedding ring in an annoyed tone. He took a breath licking his teeth with a smirk.

"My name is Felix Robinson; I'm sure I'm not in the little programs that people of your kind use, James. Damon and Deetra are fueling Europe and the USA with drugs."

"Oh, I know it."

"This needs to stop, though. You either call them, or I'll find them by myself, and believe me, it's not that hard."

Felix emphasized the word "hard". The truth is Felix couldn't find the twins at all and was trying to scam James by scaring him. On the other hand, James was scanning Felix from head to toes, his eyes falling, this time on his left ear. A small black earring in the shape of a circle was decorating it; it had a strange symbol. It seemed familiar to him, but he couldn't understand why.

"Nice earring."

"You don't listen to any of my words, do you?"

"Mason had one too, didn't he? Is this the way of recognizing your people, Felix?"

"You'll tell me."

"It seems... familiar. Have I killed a coworker of yours before, Felix?"

"No, but you have met one."

James stopped talking, trying to think of the earring's design. So familiar but not at the same time. His eyes widened, remembering Abigail. Her hair was up in a ponytail, her ears were visible. She wore the same as the one Felix had. Felix grinned, entertained by James' expressions, seeing he slowly understood what was going on.

"She works for you."

"Bingo."

"I should have... known it."

"Oh, don't feel bad for yourself, James."

Felix stood up, grabbing James' chin with force, making him look up. He brought his lips closer, whispering. James gulped, trying to look away, but he couldn't. He clenched his teeth, trying to seem strong in response.

"You'll stay here as much as I want. If Abigail doesn't finish her job, there will be consequences for you."

"Me? What's her job exactly?"

Felix laughed, bringing his thumb close to his neck, making a quick movement across it to show him. James stared at him like he was a psycho. He had to find a way to escape and have access back to his phone.

"Have a great day, Mr James."

Felix left, locking the door behind before taking a breath. He looked at his phone, one missed call from Sophia. He smiled, bringing the phone to his ear, hearing the beeping for a few seconds.

"Hello, love!"

"I saw the call. Is everything alright?"

"Oh, yes, just missed you. How's work?"

"Well... Stressful."

He looked at the cameras of James' room. He was just sitting looking around, not struggling or making sounds at all.

"Are you okay?"

"To tell the truth, I can't wait to come home, Sophia. I miss my bed already."

"Only your bed?"

"No."

He laughed softly, still checking the cameras. Suddenly, James stared right at the camera with a grin.

"I'll call you later, darling. Love you."

"Love you, too."

He hung up with a chuckle going back to Mason. He seemed lost, not able to motivate himself to work. He was looking at his computer's wallpaper leaning on his office. He sighed, almost in tears missing his love.

"Mason."

"Mhm..."

"Abigail is fine. I've talked with her."

"Wait, what."

He flinched, moving his head quickly. He stood up, fixing his shirt with a glare at him.

"Why didn't you tell me?!"

Mason was angry; he felt betrayed. Felix knew how much Abigail meant emotionally to him. He ignored him, though.

"Don't worry, I won't let Damon hurt her in any way."

"You promise?"

Felix fixed his tie with a chuckle standing in front of Mason. He was almost a head taller than him. Mason gulped, lifting his head. He couldn't hold his tears back. He looked scared. Felix saw the tears streaming down his cheeks; he put his hands on them, wiping them away.

"Don't be a cry baby, Mason. I promise. Abigail is like a younger sister to me. I'll do anything to protect her."

"Thank you, boss."

"Anything, just so you two end up together like it is intended. You are made for each other, Mason."

"You think so...?"

"Of course! The way she looks at you, oh, man. It reminded me of myself when I met Sophia."

He smiled, putting his hand on Mason's shoulder, bringing him close. Mason took a big breath looking at him.

"She's fine. She'll come back soon. If Damon doesn't let her, we'll make a trade."

"Trade?"

"Her for his friend."

Mason moved his eyes down, lost again in thoughts. The trade seemed fair if Damon tried anything strange. He didn't know that Abigail was okay, not hurt at all.

Meanwhile, Abigail was with Damon at a lovely coffee shop, enjoying some time together. Damon put his hand over hers, rubbing it softly with his thumb. Abigail sipped from her coffee with a smile. "So...." Damon chuckled, holding his cup gently. She looked at him confused, tilting her head a bit.

"So what?"

"You wanted to tell me something when the guard interrupted us."

"Oh, doesn't matter right now. I'm having fun, so it can wait."

Damon laughed, mumbling, "whatever". Abigail heard him and pinched his hand; he let a groan making her laugh along with him. She put her free hand in front of her lips, looking out of the window. Abigail almost choked when she saw the fast food place that was opposite the coffee shop. She was eating there regularly with Mason as it was close to where she was working. She was losing her mind; it's been more than a week. Or not? She didn't know. The only thing that she found out at that moment was that she had to return home. Or not? More and more thoughts were taking over her mind as she pulled her hand away from Damon.

"Dear, are you okay?"

Abigail gulped unsurely. How did she end up here? She had to finish this job here and days. She sighed, her phone started ringing.

"Your phone is... ringing."

Damon looked surprised at her, thinking he only knew her phone number. It was Felix; the name was echoing in her mind as she stood up.

"It's... my boss, don't worry. I'll be right back."

She ran outside of the shop, answering the call, trying to act normal.

"Abigail."

"Boss."

There was silence again, like that time in the restaurant. The difference was that this time Felix broke it quickly, not losing any time.

"Inform me about the situation."

"I'm in love with him, boss."

Felix sighed disappointedly at his employee. He rubbed his eyes with the inside of his arms before getting back to the call.

"We have James."

"What."

Abigail was stunned out by Felix's words. She looked through the window back to Damon, who waved at her softly. She gulped, facing the consequences of their actions already. Deetra would kill her if anything happened to James because of her. Damon would lose all his trust and never ever let her go. The "never let go" part didn't sound one hundred per cent bad, though. She cursed at the thought of her staying forever with Damon.

"We'll trade him for you; he's not gonna let you go away from him easily. All I need is Damon's phone number."

"Fine..."

Abigail's emotions were becoming stronger every time she was saying a number. Felix wrote down the phone number; she could hear his pen against the paper.

"I'll call him soon. Until then, act normal."

"How will you explain the trading, Felix."

"Oh, it's easy; I'll tell the truth."

"W-What?! He'll hurt me if he learns that I played with his feelings to- "

"Kill him? And still, failed? Hu, he won't harm you, Abigail. Trust me."

Felix hung up the call in seconds, leaving her alone. She cursed under her breath; she should have finished the job. She didn't; she's facing the consequences now.

She went back in, sitting down. Damon saw her sadness; he didn't say Anything out of fear he may harm her feelings.

"Is your boss mad you didn't work so many days...?"

"Damon, you're a total sweetheart, but... I need to get back in my routine and life."

"Oh, of course, I understand. We can meet here and then- "

"You don't understand, Damon...."

"Understand what?"

"I stay with you cause I have to kill you."

Damon stared at her, bursting into laughter, not even a second later. He faked, wiping his tears away before holding her hands gently with a smile. He sighed, closed his eyes for a bit, and took a breath. "I almost believed you...." he whispered, clicking his tongue against his teeth.

Abigail pulled her hands away with a shocked face, seeing Damon wasn't taking her seriously at all. He turned his attention fully on her when she stood up, picking her bag by the dark strap.

"I'm leaving."

"What."

Damon growled, grabbing her arm, pushing her back in her seat. He was more than shocked, almost in tears.

"You're hurting me, Damon."

"Shut up, whore."

Damon's attitude had changed quickly; Abigail couldn't believe her ears or his mouth at all. Damon had never called her names before. She didn't try to hurt him, though, even if she could easily. He felt betrayed; he had left all his trust in her quickly. Deetra was right, again. Abigail was another basic woman wanting something from him. Just something different, not money or drugs. She wanted his head.

"You're not going anywhere, duh. You're coming back to the mansion with me. And if you try anything dumb, there are consequences."

Abigail sighed, "More consequences...." she thought, looking away but nodding. She didn't have the heart to hurt him, plus make a whole scene in a shop. People were already looking at them, whispering and gossiping about what could be going on. No one knew the actual situation or who they actually were, though.

"Damon, I can explain- "

"Explain what exactly? That you want me dead and gone? That you fucked me to have some fun? That you used me all THESE days to feel like a princess before burying me away!?"

Damon's voice was getting louder; more people were attracted by his anger, staring at them, scared. Abigail had noticed the intense stares around their table; she lowered her head, looking at him.

"Damon, please. Everyone's looking at us, calm down...."

He took his wallet, letting twenty pounds on the table with a groan before standing up. He glared at the crowd fixing his suit jacket with a serious face. He made Abigail stand up and stay beside him, holding her arm behind his back.

"Go back to your business."

He scoffed, dragging Abigail with him; he wasn't calming any time soon. He unlocked his car, pushing her in the seat before closing the door with force. Abigail was in trouble. She knew it. It was the first time she had seen Damon that angry, and it was her fault. Maybe, she shouldn't have told the truth. Suddenly, she feared him thinking he would actually hurt her for the first time.

"Are we actually going to the mansion?"

"Yes, I have to discuss with Deetra what we will do with you."
