- PROLOGUE -

Somewhere in London, in the middle of nowhere, a mansion filled with bodyguards is lying around some hills, a pretty garden, and a pool decorating it. His owner was in his bedroom, fixing his tie in front of a full-body mirror. Today was a special day. Abigail was giving birth, and he wanted to be by her side, of course, when Felix wasn't around to mess up with him. It's been a long time, but he knew he would put himself in such a significant danger if Felix's eyes caught him.

He smiled, fixing his hair, brushing them backwards with a brush and some hair gel. Damon looked happy; it's been a while since there was a toothy smile on his face. He wasn't jealous of Mason; he was proud of Abigail bringing to this world a healthy girl.

Maybe because he wasn't that scared of kids anymore, since he faced many of his traumatic experiences and got over them. He still had nightmares where Akito walks through the mansion's hallways, waiting for his prey, but with slow and steady steps and some help from a psychiatrist, he managed to reduce them.

Damon had stopped his medication for anxiety and depression here and a few days, following his doctor's orders, and everything was still alright. When he was diagnosed with depression, he was devastated and felt hopeless. He just hoped things won't get brutal at the hospital in chance Robinson sees him.

Deetra walked into her brother's bedroom without knocking; Damon turned his head and glared at his sister. She smiled at him and waved softly; this violet dress that James got her from Ireland looked perfect on her.

"Where are you heading to?"

"Just to the hospital to see Abigail!"

"Did she give birth!? It's been nine months already, hu...."

"As it seems!"

Damon fixed his suit jacket, that playful smile still on his crimson red lips. Deetra closed the door behind her and leaned against her with a sigh. She seemed pretty worried lately, but he couldn't understand why.

Deetra was quite an introvert; no one knew what was going on in her life, not even Damon. She wasn't talking loudly about her problems and was keeping everything to herself. Her brother tried to pursue her to visit a psychologist to rant at least for Jason's behaviour, but she refused. He just wanted to know her thoughts and worries, nothing less, nothing more.

"It's a little baby girl!"

"That's nice...."

"I feel like an uncle!"

"S-Shut up! You're not an uncle, Damon!"

Deetra jumped accidentally, her pupils dilating in fear. Her body acted like thousands of volts of electricity went through it. Damon stared at his sister, confused, before scratching his cheek. She gulped and tried to appear calm and gathered, but she failed miserably; her heartbeat was echoing through the whole room. He took a step closer to her sister, and she took one back, being against the door again. The kingpin pushed his hands in the pockets of his black pants as Deetra fiddled with her golden rings.

"Is everything alright, Deetra?"

"Um, y-yes!? Just the thought of you being an u-uncle feels like a bunch of bullshit!"

"Oh... I guess so. Now excuse me...."

Damon pushed his sister aside and opened the door before giving her a good last look. He narrowed his eyes; Deetra coughed, feeling her neck drier than a desert as she brought her arms behind her back.

Damon ignored his sister that moment; maybe it was a big mistake, but who knew. He took one of his many cars and headed to the hospital dipped in distress and excitement.

When Abigail found out she was pregnant, she started panicking, not knowing what to do. She wasn't sure if she wanted to keep the child, fearing that she couldn't protect it because of Mason and her's job. The first person she contacted after seeing the positive pregnancy test was Damon. It sounds dumb, but she thought he would understand her and somehow help her, and Damon did the best he could. It was around four am, everyone, including Mason and Damon, was asleep. Abigail couldn't close her eyes though, her period was far from late, and she had grabbed a pregnancy test from the nearest chemist just in case. After seeing the result, she was nearly in tears. Abigail went to the balcony and looked through her contacts, and decided to call Damon.

Damon was left speechless and covered in bitterness that night. He was ranting about Abigail's pregnancy all the time the next day at his psychiatrist. The drug baron wanted to make her abort it as he was still deeply in love with her but couldn't. So, he said what he thought was right; To go and talk to Mason.

Mason was beyond happy when he found out he was going to be a father. His happiness and excitement disappeared the moment he faced the uncertainness in Abigail's eyes. He said that he'd love to have a baby with her, but he will respect her decision if she doesn't feel ready yet. Mason never pushed her into having a baby she didn't want, and Damon admired that. He was beside her the whole time, making sure she had everything she craved. Damon knew that Mason would make a great dad, unlike Jason. He believed he would be that kind of dad that feeds you candies and cotton candy when mom isn't around to complain about your daily sugar intake and takes you to Disneyland for your birthday so you can have a fun time with Mickey Mouse and Cinderella.

Another person that was happy for Abigail was her boss, Felix. He was always buying everything Abigail wanted, from food to clothes caring for her sometimes more than her husband. Mason, of course, didn't like it a lot, and he was saying again and again that Abigail already had everything she wants, but he was insisting. No one ever complained about Felix's attitude or found it suspicious, but some coworkers of his believed for no reason that Sophia was jealous. People around Felix LOVED mistreating his wife with nasty comments.

Sophia was happy learning about Abigail's pregnancy. She was kinda jealous as she wanted her own baby, too. She didn't care that Felix was beside Abigail 24/7; in her mind, he was showing to her what a great dad he would be one day.

Sophia was trying to pursue Felix to go to a doctor together. She thought that there was some kind of problem, keeping them back from having a kid.

Damon's arrival didn't alert Felix as he wasn't there; that was unusual. He had talked with Mason the previous day, and he sounded furious; Felix was lately between their legs for no damn reason.

Damon stepped into the hospital joyful, asked a nurse quickly for Abigail's room, and in seconds was there. He opened the door slowly and peeked inside with a soft smile. Abigail was in her bad half-asleep; she looked weaker than usual. The birth put her through a lot of pain, and she wasn't having much fun.

"Hello, Abigail..!"

Abigail giggled, hearing Damon's voice, and tried to lift her body to talk to him, falling shortly after. Damon rolled his eyes and sat beside her, putting his fingers through her hair.

"Hey, calm down! I just wanted to say hi and see the baby!"

"That's so nice of you, Damon...."

Abigail hissed in pain; her belly felt awful.

Damon couldn't understand Abigail's pain at that moment but sympathized with her. When he was a little boy, his mother had described countless times how painful was the procedure of giving birth to them. As Selena said, "When I gave birth, I was in tears because of how much pain my body was going through, but soon those tears turned into happy ones as I saw your two cute faces.". Deetra never liked the story of how their mother gave birth; she was ending up in tears every day, not wanting to go through that much trouble one day. Damon loved that story, mostly because he wouldn't give birth at some point in his life.

Damon turned his head, soon facing a tiny baby with barely any hair moving its legs and arms around. He smiled and stared at the baby in pure bliss; Damon was going through a baby fever without reason.

"She's beautiful, Abigail...."

"Oh, thank you, Damon...."

"I got her a small gift...."

Damon got a small black box from his pocket and opened it in front of Abigail's eyes; it was a pair of diamond earrings. Her eyes widened before holding the package between her fingers in awe.

"D-Damon! These are pure diamonds! Plus, I don't know when Mason and I will decide she can pierce her ears -"

"It's fine! Oh, I also bought you a small present...."

Damon grabbed from the inside pocket of his suit jacket a slightly bigger box and handed it to Abigail. She raised her eyebrow, glaring at it confused before looking at him.

"Damon, you didn't have to -"

"Oh, just open it already!"

Abigail sighed and opened it, facing an expensive teardrop diamond necklace, the chain being white gold. She gasped softly, her thumb brushing against the diamond. She turned her chin towards Damon; he laughed, seeing her speechless.

"D-Damon, this looks so pretty, but I can't accept it - That looks too expensive!"

"Shhh, shut up! First of all, it looks expensive cause it is and secondly, it's really nothing! Let me put it on you...."

Damon took the necklace out of its box and put it around her neck with a soft smile. He held her hands, rubbing her skin with his thumbs before bringing them to his lips to give them a kiss. Abigail turned red for a split second and looked away.

"It really suits you... I-I mean, everything looks perfect on you, so I don't know what I was expecting...."

He giggled awkwardly and pulled her closer to his body. Damon was really close to her now. His hand was on her chin, his fingers brushing against her cheek. Damon was about to kiss her, their lips almost touching, when Mason burst in out of nowhere.

Abigail pulled away quickly, fixing her hair by running her fingers through them, and looked down still red; Damon stood up with open arms and a broad smile, ready to welcome his "friend."

"Mason, my mate! Congrats on your daughter!"

"Am I interrupting something..?"

Mason glared at his wife and then at Damon who's smile disappeared for a split second. In his mind, Damon was cursing and screaming loud as he was so close to kissing her, but her stupid husband had to destroy everything as always.

"Oh, of course, no! I just wanted to see you both and the baby! Plus, I brought some gifts!"

Damon pushed his arm lazily around Mason's neck; Mason turned to him with narrowed eyes and a chuckle.

"Gifts you said, hu? Where's mine?"

"Right here, dude!"

Damon laughed and gave him a box. Mason licked his teeth with a fake smile and opened it before turning to him.

"Thanks for the Rolex, Damon."

"Your welcome Mason, I hope you like the leather strap!"

Damon smiled back with the same fake smile. The jealously and hatred in their eyes were visible, so Abigail tried to brighten the atmosphere.

"Mason, my dear! Did you talk with Felix?"

"Yes, and everything's alright. He said you can return when you are ready, my love."

"Oh, that's so nice of him!"

Mason faced Damon with his hands in the pockets of his jeans and a smirk playing on his lip. Damon looked away and opened the door a bit before turning to Abigail.

"I should be going; I hope you liked your presents!"

"Oh, thank you so much, Damon -"

"Let me escort you outside, Hopkins."

Mason grabbed the doorknob and opened the door with a sharp movement violently. Damon gulped and stepped outside, Mason behind him as he closed the door before smiling at his wife. The smile left his face, and an angry frown replaced it. Damon always thought that Mason was such a happy man filled with positivity, being a bit dumb sometimes. This was the first time he saw him so angry and hoped the last.

Mason lowered his head a bit and looked at Damon, making him take a step back.

"What the fuck was that in there, Hopkins."

"N-Nothing! What do you mean!?"

Mason growled and grabbed Damon by his tie, bringing him closer to him showing his teeth. Damon stared at him with wide eyes and adrenaline running through his veins.

"Do you think I'm dumb, Damon!?"

"Um, yes- "

Mason growled again and pushed Damon against the hospital's wall, his arm pressed against his neck. Damon tried to speak, but no sound was coming out as Mason was cutting his oxygen supply. He wrapped his hands around Mason's and grabbed them, struggling.

"If you do any funny shit with my wife, you're done, Hopkins. I won't accept your bullshit, and I won't let you destroy my family because you want so!"

Mason pressed harder, talking louder in anger; Damon was struggling more.

"Y-You're choking me, arsehole...!"

"That's the point, arsehole!"

Mason pulled away only when he saw some doctors and nurses, along with security running towards him. Damon brought his hand to his neck, coughing, trying to breathe as Mason scoffed and return to his wife's room.

Damon went back in his car, not wanting any more trouble in the hospital and hoping that Mason won't mention anything to Abigail. Okay, maybe his move was wrong, and he was being a homewrecker but didn't care a lot. In his mind, Mason was simply a tiny ant in front of him, totally nothing.

When he returned home, he sat in the living room, lost in thoughts, sooner or later, James joining him. Damon didn't understand his friend by his side; James glared at him, confused, before putting his hand on his shoulder, making him jump a bit.

"Are you alright? You've been staring at the wall for about ten minutes."

"I tried to kiss Abigail in the hospital r- "

Damon never finished his sentence as James punched him in the face with all his strength. Damon held his cheek and rubbed it in pain, grinding his teeth.

"Why the fuck everyone tries to harm me today!?"

"Damon, get ya brain in its position! Abigail married Mason, and they just had a kid- You can't continue interrupting their lives because you can't get over a high school crush!"

"I guess you're right, but it's hard... I want to be something like an uncle to that kiddo- "

This time Deetra slapped him across the face; he hissed, holding his other cheek, cursing loudly.

"Are ya crazy!?"

"I told you not to say the word "uncle" again!"

"Why!?"

Deetra pulled away with crossed arms and gulped before making a sign to her brother to follow her. Damon turned to James, who looked as confused as him and followed his sister, not knowing what the future will hold for him.
