- FIFTEEN -
Florenzo and Sara Vitale were living in a small two storey house. It was about twenty minutes away from Liverpool's centre, but they were okay with it. They had their own garden, and it was filled with various flowers. They knew how much James loved roses, so they planted some for him.
When the doorbell rang, Sara looked at the door with a smile. She walked towards it while holding a cloth. Sara wiped her hands on it and opened the door, thinking it was her daughter. Instead, she faced a young woman. She was panting, and her hair was up in a messy bun.
"M-Mrs. Vitale!"
The girl spoke excitedly with an awkward smile. She could hear someone walking down the stairs, soon after, she faced James. James glared at Deetra with wide eyes and an open mouth. He thought that his sister had arrived and wanted to welcome her but was left speechless when he saw his girlfriend instead.
"Deetra, my dear, is that you? Come in!"
Deetra nodded with a smile walking and letting the suitcase by her side. She knew that James' eyes were stuck on her, but she was looking away shyly.
"What are you doing here? James told me that something occurred to you, and you couldn't join us!"
"Well, I took care of it faster than I thought, and I remember your address as James had mentioned it, so... I thought it would be nice if could come here...."
"Oh, that's so wonderful! It's such a pleasure to see you after so many years, Deetra! I'm so glad you managed to join us!"
Sara held Deetra's hand with both her hands and a toothy smile. Deetra glared back at the woman with the same smile and a nod. Mrs Sara was always such a nice woman to her eyes, she liked her a lot. Deetra went to James' house only once or twice when she was in high school. At that time, they were living in London, quite close to their school. Their old house was bigger than this and had a pool, but they didn't look dissatisfied with this one.
"What's going on? Who are you?"
They all looked at the man that made the question. Deetra gulped, seeing the tall man, understanding in seconds who he was. He looked at Deetra and then at James.
"Dad, this is my girlfriend, Deetra. Deetra, this is my father, Florenzo."
James glared at both of them as the girl raised her hand with an awkward smile. Florenzo looked serious as he held her hand between his fingers and gave it a kiss with a soft grin.
"So you're the young lady that my son can't stop talking about, hu?"
"It seems so."
"A pleasure to meet you, Deetra."
Deetra bit her tongue; the words seemed to not leave her mouth. She was still scared of the man in front of her.
"The pleasure is all mine. Mr Vitale."
"Oh, just call me Florenzo, Deetra!"
He smiled widely as Deeta laughed softly with a nod.
"Let me help you with your suitcase -"
"I'll help her dad; it's okay."
James grabbed it in seconds, holding onto it with all his strength. Florenzo was hiding his smile, seeing how polite his son was.
"I thought you wouldn't come, Deetra."
"There was a problem at work, but I managed to solve it quickly! I thought it would be a total shame to miss the dinner!"
"We are more than thankful to have you here, Deetra. James is really secret about his relationships, so when he announced he had a girlfriend, we couldn't wait to meet her!'
Florenzo added as James groaned, rolling his eyes. Deetra looked at him for a second.
"We'll be back downstairs in a second."
Deeta followed her boyfriend all the way upstairs. She sat at the bed and glared at him as he closed the guest room's door. He leaned against it with crossed arms. "What are you doing here...." he mumbled, looking away; his face was paler than usual. Deetra stood up and sighed, stepping closer to him.
"I know how important these days are for you, and I couldn't leave you all alone while your parents start asking you things like "When will you get married?" or "When will you have grandkids?""
James chuckled softly and laughed as Deetra put her palms on his cheeks, rubbing them gently. He glared at her with half-opened eyes pulling his face closer to hers.
"I am sorry for what I said; it was so wrong... I shouldn't have said those things for your parents... I have no right... Please forgive me...."
"I forgive you, James, I love you dumbarse...."
He giggled and pulled her for a kiss.
"I am sorry for the things I said for your father, too...."
"It doesn't matter, for real. You'll see that he isn't a bad person, Deetra... He just wants peace ...."
She leaned her face against his chest as he started playing with her hair. He had missed her a lot more than he thought.
James and Deeta never fought, or barely never. It was this kind of couple that was always on good terms, and when there was a fight, it was always a big one. In the end, they would be together, laughing and forgetting everything. They loved each other too much to focus on small stupid details.
James pushed Deetra against the wall and started kissing her deeply, his hands holding onto her waist. Deetra had pulled her palms against his cheeks; her nails were against his skin. He could feel his lips going down her neck; his teeth were biting wherever they could find.
Deetra pushed her hands against his chest; he glared at her, confused.
"Your parents are downstairs, James...."
She whispered; all she received back was a chuckle and his fingers going from her waist to her thighs.
"I don't care enough to stop right now."
He grinned and continued kissing her.
Back in London, Sophia was babysitting Mason's and Abigail's daughter as they had to go to work. She loved seeing the baby's eyes shine under the lights and her little random smiles. She sighed, holding the baby against her chest.
It's been some days since Sophia started taking pills to solve her fertility problem. She hadn't felt any changes yet, but she was sure they would work any time soon. She couldn't wait to hold her own child against her body and take care of it, and love it with her whole heart. Having Felix by her side was a blessing that she never asked for but received anyways. Maybe, she deserved a man like him beside her in the end.
Sophia was confused when her husband put more bodyguards around the house. She believed him, though when he explained to her that it was for her and the baby's safety. Sophia was taking care of the couple's child when they were at their workplace, and Felix wanted to be sure that they were safe and sound all the time.
The baby was asleep, but Sophia didn't want to put it in its crib. Yes, Felix had bought a whole crib just for his employees' kid. He wanted it to be happy and comfortable as long as it was in his house. Felix's face was lighting up every time he faced little Emma, and he couldn't stop holding the baby between his arms. Sophia knew how much he'd love his own child one day based on his reactions and affection towards Emma.
She couldn't wait for the treatments to work so they'll have their own little happy family.
On the other side of London, Damon had just returned home tired. He undid his tie and sat down, soon Domenico joining as exhausted as his cousin. He turned to the man with a growl while rubbing his face.
"Today was more tiring than I thought... How can you stand all these assholes!?"
"I can because I make money out of them, Domenico...."
Damon rolled his head back, laughing as Domenico puffed. His phone made a sound as a new message had come through. He checked it; a smile took over his lips as he started typing on his iPhone with his thumbs. Damon raised his eyebrow and leaned his arms on his knees with a smirk.
"Watcha typin' there, lover boy?"
"Well, Monica wants to meet up today! Can I go, pleaaase?"
"Of course? We're done for today."
"Wait for real?"
Domenico looked at him, confused, tilting his head. Damon nodded with a smile before patting his shoulder. The boy started typing faster before sending the message. The grin never left his lips.
"Will you meet up somewhere?"
"Um, she told me she'll be waiting for me at the Hyde park corner! Can you drive me there?"
"Yes, Domenico, you have nothing to worry about."
Damon nodded as Domenico's lips turned into a broad smile. He rushed upstairs, wanting to shower and decide what he will wear. The drug baron rolled his eyes and laughed; it was nice seeing his cousin wanting to go out with that girl from the bar. His phone rang, he sighed when he saw the familiar name. He answered it even if he didn't want to do it.
"Hello, uncle Lazaro."
"How's Domenico doing?"
Lazaro didn't waste his time, going the conversation straight to his point.
"On his first day, he did well. He listens to me and follows around."
"That's good. Did he meet any girls?"
Damon puffed, hearing his uncle's question.
"Yes, her name is Monica, she has purplish hair, and her face is full of piercings."
Lazaro chuckled darkly; he didn't like his son's "girlfriend".
"I wish he had found a more... serious girl. I guess it's something from nothing."
"Well, not everyone has the same type at women, uncle."
Damon rolled his eyes, pressing the phone against his ear.
"What's the ideal woman for you, nephew?"
"I don't know, but your type is my mother, apparently."
Lazaro laughed softly at his comment; Damon wished his uncle could see his smirk right now.
"Oh, I like your humour, Damon."
"I like it, too."
Damon answered back, receiving another chuckle from his uncle.
"Will you come to the meeting?"
"I have to."
"You'll bring Domenico along, and when we are finished with it, he will stay in Italy. I just hope he likes my "job" more now."
Damon nodded casually, even if Lazaro couldn't see him. Domenico still hated the idea of being the leader of a mafia.
"Deetra will come along."
"Deetra? I don't know if she should come, Damon."
"Why?"
"Oh, these old men are going to chase her around."
Lazaro laughed bitterly; Damon said nothing in return. There was silence for some seconds before the kingpin decided to say something.
"If anyone touches her, I'll break their necks, Lazaro. I don't care for their power and status. If they mess with my sister, they will mess with me, too."
"I adore the love you hold for your sister, Damon. These people are more than names that hide power, though."
"I don't care, uncle. I'll never let anyone hurt her."
Damon puffed anxious; Lazaro held his breath for a second and lit up a cigar. He wished Domenico was as protective of his brother as Damon was towards his sister.
"I have to go, Damon. Can't wait to see you and your sister in Italy."
"I can't wait, too."
Damon spoke back with a smirk knowing how quickly things would go down the moment he stepped into Lazaro's country. He didn't care, though; it was his time to show off his power and how far he has arrived.
Damon hung up the call and leaned back with his arms behind his head. Suddenly, he couldn't wait for the meeting to arrive. He and Deetra would show to all those old men that they are more than Jason's kids.
It was his time to flex his money and power to them.
