When You're Mad
"GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE-SO THE RESTRICTIONS MEAN NOTHING TO YOU HUH?"
Another meeting, another moment of DC being pushed to the brink of his sanity. Florida had proudly brought up that his governor was trying to re-open the entire state, which alongside Texas and California arguing, had set DC off. He had been ranting and raving for the past twenty minutes, eyes blazing and face getting increasingly red.
"WHY CAN'T YOU JUST LISTEN? WE WOULD'VE HAD THIS DONE IN MARCH IF YOU JUST LISTENED--"
"Alright feds gonna pop blood vessel, I'm getting him to stop." Massachusetts muttered. He felt his arm being gently jerked back, and looked back at his younger brother.
"Nah, let him keep going." New York ordered, eyes never leaving the angry face of his boyfriend. Massachusetts raised an eyebrow at his brother before shrugging and going back to his coffee. He'll never understand the main sixes dynamic.
"ONE time, the ONE time I ask you to move your stuff!" DC yelled waving his papers around as he sat at the kitchen table.
"Actually you say that to us all the time, darlin'." Louisiana pointed out.
"Then why don't you listen?" DC hissed slapping his papers down to the table. He began working once again, albeit angrily and making little huffing noises. DC felt a pair of eyes staring at him and he glanced up to see Louisiana still standing in front of him, smiling.
"What."
"You're cute when you're mad darlin'." Louisiana admitted.
"I'm about to be real fucking adorable. Go." DC ordered. Louisiana chuckled to himself and left the fed to do his work, turning back to glance at his boyfriend still angrily attempting to do his work, not fighting the grin that was spreading across his face. He could stay there and watch his boyfriend angrily work all day.
"Do you lot just get him angry on purpose?" Texas looked up at Kentucky as they both sat on the deck.
"What the hell are you on about?" Texas asked, jumping as another piece of metal hit the driveway.
"Well, the meetings, Florida and Louisiana are always antagonizing him, and the fact that you haven't stepped in yet." Kentucky pointed out, pointing to the driveway. DC peeked out from under the hood covered in oil and looked borderline frazzled and pissed off.
"Cali try it again!" DC ordered. The engine started and attempted to turn over, but shut off as quickly as it started. DC threw down his oil rag. "GOD FUCKING DAMN IT--"
"I don't know what you're talking about." Texas muttered, lighting up a cigarette. Kentucky stared at the southern state before smiling.
"You do get him mad on purpose." Kentucky whispered. Texas blew out smoke and watched DC attempt to climb back into the engine, desperate to get it working again.
"Not always." Texas muttered. "But it's a treat when he does."
"I swear to God when I go back to Washington I'm getting another car!" DC yelled.
"Look at how his eyes light up, his face scrunches up, and he gets so flabbergasted that he can barely talk. He's adorable." Texas explained.
"Not my cup of tea, but I'll take your word for it." Kentucky said with a smile.
"Cali start it again!" DC yelled. California attempted to start the car again, the engine turning over and over but not starting. Texas chuckled and smashed his cigarette before standing up.
"But you gotta know your limits now." Texas explained before walking off towards his boyfriends.
"Sugar let me take a look at it." Texas ordered gently pushing DC aside and looking at the engine. Kentucky watched as DC attempted to "help" Texas by leaning into the engine next to him, then yelping as his boyfriend gently tucked his hand in the back of his pants. DC just smiled softly and tucked his head on Texas's shoulder, letting him explain the ins and outs of the car engine as he attempted to fix it.
The main five did think DC was cute when he was angry, and often pushed his buttons to get that reaction. But they were also aware of when to stop and when to calm him down. It was perfectly balanced, just like their relationship.
