I saw someone headcanon that DC/Gov is freaked out by nuclear war because of the arms race 

And that's very mint as you kids say (hey don't yell at me, I work with kids) 

So does that mean he's see The Day After/Threads*? 

Is that the reason he didn't really contact the states until this year because he's feared if this happens and he got too close, he'd lose them? 

*The Day After is the superior movie but if the beginning part of that and then the second half of Threads combined you'd make the perfect anti-nuclear war movie
