Easter 2

Two days before Easter, and Texas slowly lowered the plans he was holding in front of him.

"WHOA, WHOA." Texas yelled, throwing the plans down. "You're not supposed to put any support there!"

"If we don't, the first gush of wind will send this shed down!" Oklahoma yelled on the roof of the shed.

"The foundation is structurally sound, it should be fine." Texas argued.

"So you don't care if your boyfriend is crushed?" Virginia asked.

"Take. That. Back." Texas hissed as Oklahoma jumped off the roof.

"If you shake the shed, it rattles. We need support." Oklahoma hissed.

"I worked on the roof all day yesterday and it stood still!" Texas argued.

"Because you're too heavy!" Oklahoma yelled. Suddenly the two southern states collided, pulling at each other's clothes and hair, before tumbling to the ground. As the two fought at the other southern states watched, Florida came out on the back deck talking on his phone.

"Easter? I think the international branch is doing brunch that day." IDC announced over the phone.

"Oh c'mon IDC, we need you here!" Florida whined.

"I didn't even think this was one of your favorite holidays." IDC pointed out rolling her eyes. Out of all her brother's boyfriends, Florida was her least favorite to talk to.

"Well first of all free candy." Florida began. "Second we're doing this for DC!"

"DC? Why him? Our birthdays not until July." IDC explained.

"He told me your dad never let him celebrate holidays." Florida explained. "He always called them...."

"Frivolous wastes of time, I know." IDC said with a sigh. "When we were kids, I used to give DC my biggest pieces of candy so he could have something. Dad put a stop to that quickly when he found out."

"He needs this IDC, after all the bullshit." Florida whispered. Silence filled the other line before IDC sighed.

"Have DC wear that white button down I got him for Christmas, and that pastel blue tie he has too." IDC ordered. "I'll be there around eleven on Sunday."

"You're the best sister-in-law ever!" Florida said with a happy grin.

"Don't push it." IDC ordered before hanging up the phone. Florida put his phone back in his pocket before looking out into the yard. Oklahoma and Texas were still going at it, rolling around in the grass, and only a few of the other southern states were trying to separate them.

"Ooh chaos." Florida grinned. Before he could go over and join, his ears perked up to a car door shutting.

Shit.

Florida dashed down the back deck steps, out from the backyard to the front to see a tired DC collecting his items from his car after a long three days in Washington.

"Dee!" Florida greeted approaching his boyfriend. "How are you?"

"Depends. Are you seeing spots too, or am I overly tired?" DC asked.

"You just might be tired. C'mon in, let's get you to bed." Florida said, taking DC's arm and leading him into the park, trying to steer him away from the shouting coming from the backyard.

"Did you have to punch that guy in the face?" California asked, staring at the load of groceries piled on the kitchen island.

"He was going after the last ham, I had to." Massachusetts said proudly.

"So does anyone know how to cook this thing?" Utah asked about poking the frozen meat.

"We could smoke it." Louisiana suggested sitting on the counter watching the fight in the backyard.

"Smoke?" Colorado asked, picking his head up. Connecticut snickered and kissed his boyfriend on the cheek, just as Florida opened the front door.

"Boy am I so glad you're home DC." Florida yelled, making everyone in the kitchen scatter and hide the speciality items they bought for the holiday.

"Please don't yell." DC begged, dropping his work items on the floor near the front door and leaning on Florida for support as they walked into the house.

"H-Hey DC, how was Washington?" California said nervously. DC eyed the bags in sitting on the kitchen island with confusion.

"It's not Saturday." DC muttered.

"Oh....well....the store was mobbed, so we figured just go today." Connecticut explained. DC shrugged.

"Sure. Dia, help me to my room. I need to sleep for the next twenty years." DC mumbled. The peninsula helped his boyfriend to his room, leaving the other states, and two of his boyfriends, in the kitchen. The states watched them leave before sighing in relief.

"That was too close." Louisiana muttered clutching his chest.

"Let's hide the Easter stuff in the liquor cabinet, he won't look there." Massachusetts suggested. As the states began gathering their items, California became aware of even louder screaming coming from the backyard.

"HEY, HEY." New York screamed coming out of the shed, clothes dotted with white paint. "Knock it off! I'm trying to paint!" South Carolina and Georgia managed to get Texas and Oklahoma separated, and they panted as they glared at each other.

"We've got two days to finish this, let's go!" New York yelled before re-entering the shed.

"It needs a support beam." Oklahoma hissed.

"Then get your beam then." Texas ordered. "I can't believe I asked you to help."
