Dark Loui? Dark Loui.

Loui walked quietly through the halls, the sounds of smashing and varied screaming just distant white noise to him as he kept his eyes focused on his target. He didn't know how he managed to break through that crowd, one minute he saw Flo getting taken down by fifty cops, the next he was inside the Capitol among the insurrectionists.

But he wasn't there to stop an election, or take down any politicians, he was there for his fed.

For you see, you don't survive two colonist rules without learning a few tricks. He had done things that he wasn't proud of to protect his land, and he had done things he was proud of. Loui had to lose a piece of his soul in order to build his walls, and he mourned it to this day. The drinks helped. He had already lost a piece of his soul at the death of his wife and daughter at the hands of colonizers, and fell into a dark pit. He never thought he could emerge from that pit, nor love another.

A hipster, a fed, a cowboy, an angry New Yorker, and a chaotic state showed him that he could love again. And he'd be damned if he lost them too.

There was shouting coming from an alternative hall which made Loui pick up his pace. Weirdly enough he passed insurrectionists on his way towards the shouting and they all ignored him. He briefly wondered if they just assumed he was part of the insurrection but decided not to focus on it right now. Loui hurried down the hall ignoring the smashing glass, the gun shots, and yelling until finally he came to the source of the shouting. And it made his heart stop cold.

A group of insurrectionists stood around a man in a familiar blue suit who was withering on the ground and little out tiny gasps of pain. One of the insurrectionists was kneeling next to the man with his hands around his throat, and the man, pale faced and struggling to breath, had his arm up in the arm as he tried to grasp onto anything, anyone who could save him. They were strangling DC. They were strangling his fed, his boyfriend. And from the sounds of the breaths, DC was close to passing out.

Loui immediately saw red and for the first time in a long time the monster was awakened. With a heavy foot, Loui sprinted to the group, finally catching the eye of some of the insurrectionists on the edge.

"Hey what the fuck are you-" One of them shouted but never got to finish his sentence because Loui socked him in the face. The man fell to the floor, his nose exploding into a sea of crimson shocking the rest of the insurrectionists. The shock passed and the others started descending onto Loui ready to attack, the leader still strangling DC whose hand was slowly losing strength and his eyes beginning to close. But Loui was faster. He elbowed one in the stomach and kicked his head when he went down, he threw one over his shoulders and cared not if he broke his back hitting the marble floors. The others stood fearful of this mysterious strong man, the man on the floor screaming at them to attack him. Loui wiped some blood from his mouth and glared at them with dark eyes, no trace of the playful Cajun man at the meetings.

"Run." Loui said in a deep, low voice. The men, the cowards that they were, ran off leaving the man who was strangling DC to Loui's mercy. DC's eyes rolled up into his head, his face a sickly white and lips a dark red as the blood rushed to his head. Logically Loui knew he couldn't die, but the sight of DC slowly losing his battle and damn near passing out just fueled the fire in his stomach. In a quickness that the man was not expecting, Loui grabbed him in a near bear hold, something Texas had taught him long ago. The man let out a scream of surprise but didn't let go of DC, determined to kill this fed.

"If we kill him, the government will be ours!" The man screamed. DC sputtered and moaned, eyes slowly closing. Loui knew he was running out of time, so he kept the man in the hold with one arm and slowly reached down to his belt with the other.

"That's where you're wrong." Loui hissed, grabbing an item from his belt loop. It shined in the light, and Loui brought it closer to him so the man couldn't catch the glint. The man thrashed around trying to free himself while still strangling DC, until a sharp pain exploded in his back. His hand loosened, he dropped DC who fell like a sack of potatoes to the floor. Loui twisted the knife then drew back, leaning in closer to the dying man to whisper in his ear.

"The government is mine." Loui hissed before dropping his limp body on the floor. The man gasped in pain, droplets of blood falling onto his lips until finally he died in a puddle of his own blood, literally dying for the cause. Loui looked mercilessly at the body, wiping the knife off on his jersey before tucking it back in his belt, the monster satisfied for now.

"Ope."

Loui turned and saw Minnesota in his signature duck, duck gray goose shirt looking at him surprised, but not shocked. Loui ignored him and knelt by DC, touching his boyfriend's face, satisfied at the warmth at his fingertips.

"We all had to do things we're not proud of sha. You don't live this long without having regrets." Loui mumbled eyes focusing on the finger marks on DC's neck. They were going to be bruises for a long time after this, adding to his boyfriend's psychological terror.

"Why wasn't he in the tunnels?" Minnie asked quietly, not acknowledging Loui's explanation. Because he understood, he had done some things he wasn't proud of in the history of his state, seeing Loui do this was the least shocking thing he had ever witnessed. Loui just shrugged and traced his finger tips down DC's cheek.

"Who knows. Last phone call between his brother and nibling, he said he couldn't find DC. He mentioned something about interns. He probably went back to look for them." His dumb, dumb boyfriend. Always putting others' lives in front of his. He had too big of a heart, Loui wished sometimes he didn't. But that big heart is what made the original poly fall in love with him, so he couldn't hate it that much.

"We gotta move him." Minnie pointed out the sounds of the insurrection coming back to Loui. "I passed a stairway on my way here, we can hide out until someone rescues us." Loui nodded, ignoring the biting remark that he didn't think anyone would come, and crouched by DC, picking him up in one swoop, holding him bridal style.

"Lead the way sha." Loui said, holding DC's body close. The color was coming back to DC's face as his breathing evened out, he was nearly back to normal physically. Mentally was another story. Minnie nodded and turned around leading the way for the Cajun man to temporary safety. Loui kept his focus ahead, the knife heavy in his pocket, ready to whip it out at any chance to defend his boyfriend again. Even against Minnie if need be.

He made a vow when Anna and Sophia died that he would never love again, in fear of being hurt again. His soul never filled the gap until he met his other boyfriends. Life nearly took away part of his heart again. And no matter what, no matter how dark he got or what methods he'd have to use, his heart would never fall to pieces ever again.
