A/N: Remember that one AU I had where Georgia adopts the government trio and they go west and met everyone?
If I were to write it, this is where I'd start
Georgia sat in the middle of a meeting house, looking around at all the angry folk from his neighborhood and shifting uncomfortably in his seat.
"Always knew he was capable of something like this."
"We should've seen the signs."
Georgia sighed and fingered his mug, all he wanted to do was have his coffee and go back to his warm house, it was too early for this.
"So what are we going to do? They have no family."
"They have family in Washington."
"They're not going to want an extra three mouths to feed."
The southern man looked back at the three children sitting in the back of the room, completely ignored by the conversation about their fate. A fiery young man at about five, with fierce dark eyes held a small child, wrapped in blankets, against his chest, while another small child lay comfortably in a make-shift crib beside them. The two young children would never remember this night, when a misplaced oil lantern and a vengeful father changed their fate forever. Georgia's heart clenched for them.
"There's always the orphan home...."
Georgia's head snapped back to the conversation happening around him. The orphan home? The children would surely die in there, or seperated and by the look on the face of the oldest (what was his name, Gov?) that was never going to be an option. Georgia bit his lip.
"I'll take 'em." The heads of the townspeople, snapped back at Georgia, who shuffled nervously. In the corner of his eye he spied Gov(?) shifting his hold on one of the children curiously.
"Geo, don't feel obligated to." The baker announced.
"You just lost your own wife and son, you need to be alone to grieve." Another pointed out. Georgia gripped his coffee mug handle harder.
"I have the space and the income." Georgia pointed out. "I can take them."
"Are you sure Geo?" Another townsperson asked. Georgia turned to face the children again. Gov was trying to shush the fussy child in his arms while rocking the other fussy child with his foot. He smiled softly and turned back to the townsfolk, sitting up confidently.
"I am. I'll take the children."
