Unraveling

Ontario was pissed.

It had been two weeks two weeks since he successfully got the main five to leave DC, and DC was still not his.

DC had been, for a lack of a better word, miserable. He hadn't been back to the Statehouse and was mostly staying with IDC while the others searched for the main five. His appearance was suffering, he was more prone to meltdowns, and had just thrown himself into his work rather than think of his five partners.

Ontario had expected DC to be mad, to be angry, to never want to think of the main five again. He expected him to fall into his arms, and he could return home with a partner ideal for his standing. Why hadn't that happened yet? DC couldn't love the main five that much.

What was worse was the whispers from Gov and IDC about their progress finding the main five; Ontario had gone to get him and DC a snack and heard Gov and IDC whispering in the kitchen about the situation.

"Austin says he hasn't been at his ranch, but he's got a couple more properties he can check." Austin explained.

"I'm willingly to be this 'Florida Man' whose popping up in the news is Florida, but Florida police aren't cooperating." IDC said with a sigh. Ontario felt his blood freeze at those words, he needed to make DC his and soon or else the two would find the main five and bring them back.

Ontario put on his best smile as he walked into DC's office, his presence going unnoticed by the hardworking fed. He put a cup of coffee on DC's desk and sat down in one of the chairs facing it.

"How are you holding up?" Ontario asked.

"Not great." DC mumbled not looking up. Ontario sighed and faced the fed.

"Dee can I...."

"Please don't call me that." DC begged.

"What?"

"Dia called me that just....please." DC whimpered. Ontario cursed under his breath, why couldn't DC just get over them.

"DC can I be blunt?" Ontario asked. DC nodded.

"You need to move on, they left you, they abandoned you. States are fickle, they only look out for themselves." Ontario pointed out.

"Not them." DC whimpered.

"But yet they did." Ontario said with a shug. "You're learning first hand why it's not good to get involved with those lower than you, Dee...."

"DC." DC said, shutting his eyes.

"You need to move on." Ontario said gently.

"It's not that simple!" DC cried, trying hard to stop the tears from falling. "I love them! There has to be a reason they left!"

"You may never get that reason! You need to move on, to forget them. They obviously don't care enough about you to stay." Ontario pointed out.

"They do! They care!" DC yelled.

"If they didn't they wouldn't have left! They would have owned up to what they did!" Ontario yelled. DC paused.

"What did they do?" DC whispered softly. Shit.

"That doesn't matter." Ontario said quickly. "What matters is they left you, they don't matter anymore. Dee you need to mo--"

"STOP CALLING ME DEE." DC screamed. In an instance, Gov was in the doorway.

"The hell is going on?" Gov demanded. He dashed over to his cousin, who was in distress, and glared at Ontario.

"The fuck did you say to him?" Gov hissed.

"G-God just stop calling me Dee." DC begged through tears.

"C'mon DC, Washington just bought some more coffee." Gov whispered leading DC out of his office. Before they left he turned and gave a pointed glare at Ontario.

"You're on thin fucking ice Ontario." Gov hissed before walking off. Ontario groaned and slumped on his chair. DC was being so dramatic, over what? Five states that couldn't care enough to give him their real COVID numbers? This was a joke, DC needed to get over them and fast.

But how could he do it?

"Yes thank you! Thank you so much!" IDC hung up the phone and bounced with glee.

"Florida Man is Florida! They actually have him in custody." IDC announced.

"Great. Bail him out and then make sure he stays at the Statehouse." Gov ordered.

"That'll be hard, but I'm sure Massachusetts will get him to stay." Washington announced.

"We're still one in four for boyfriends to find." Gov said with a sigh. Silence filled the office as the two governments and state tried to figure out their next step.

"What got DC so upset?" IDC finally asked.

"Fucking Ontario kept calling him Dee. Something's been off about him lately." Gov muttered.

"Could it be glee?" Washington asked sarcastically. The two governments stared at the state in confusion.

"He's wanted DC and his partners to split for so long, he's got this weird idea in his head that DC doesn't deserve to date below his station." Washington explained.

"Pfft boy do I have news for him with who I'm dating." Gov mumbled.

"DC....he said Ontario said something earlier....what was it?" IDC asked.

"Something about if the main five didn't lie, they wouldn't have left." Gov said with a shrug.

"What could he mean? Did they cheat?" Washington asked.

"Isn't that the purpose of polyamory? I WAS KIDDING JENNY." Gov screamed after being hit by IDC.

"They couldn't have cheated, fair too loyal." IDC muttered sitting back down. She leaned back in her chair in thought before snapping her fingers.

"Washington where are those COVID numbers?"

"God I don't know, they were in my drawer and have been missing ever since." Washington said with a sigh.

"So DC's partners leave, and Ontario suddenly knows that they were lying about something. On top of that the numbers are missing." Gov mumbled. He jumped up and faced the state.

"Washington we need to find those numbers, that could be the clue." Gov announced.

"C'mon guys, Ontario's a bit of an ass but he's not an evil mastermind." IDC pointed out.

"I don't like this either, but unfortunately everything right now points to him." Gov explained grabbing his jacket from the couch. "I just hope to God it doesn't add up."

DC felt a little better going back to work, but his mind was still reeling after the confrontation earlier in his office. He had his third cup of coffee and was ready to get back to it when he noticed a bag of something on his desk. DC carefully approached it, not noticing Ontario slowly peek his head inside. He tore the note from the top and read it:

Sorry about earlier, I'm just a little worried.

-Ontario

The fed gave a ghost of a smile as he tossed the note and sat back in his chair, opening the bag to dig in. Ontario smirked and turned back into his make-shift office, pleased with himself.

Give it time, DC would eventually be his.
