Titles Released 1-1-2020 A New Decade Of Comics Begins

Hello everyone and welcome back to another chapter in my dc comics discussion page and happy new year to all of you! That's right it's the first of the year and the first DC week of 2020. Will it be an improvement over 2019? There's a lot that can be improved on and I really hope that DC is able to do so. Sure there was some good stuff in 2019 but I wasn't really feeling all of it. I hope that DC is able to bounce back and do something special this year. Anyways, let's take a look at what came out this week and see just how good (or bad) the first week of the year was for DC comics in 2020.

Titles I Picked Up This Week:
Batgirl #42:
This was the end of the Oracle rising storyline. Which was an ok storyline. There's some good and bad to it. I feel like Batgirl is a very distant series from the rest of the DC universe. Also, Babs seems like she's about to start a relationship with this Jason Bard guy. If I'm being honest Outside of Dick Grayson I don't really care to see Babs with anyone else. It just doesn't feel right to me. But, oh well I guess we will see where this story goes from here.

Batman Beyond #39:
This issue lead to some very interesting turns with this plot. It has done a good job setting the seeds of the next big confrontation with Terry and Blight. Also, we're about to find out who Batwoman Beyond really is. I say it's either Kate Kane or Carrie Kelley. Other than that. I got nothing. But, regardless I'm excited to find out who it really is.

Detective Comics #1018:
I just realized that Detective Comics and Action Comics are now lined up together as in they have the same amount of issues that have been released. That's crazy to think about. Anyways, let's talk about this week's detective comics. Wow what an issue. Tomasi can do no wrong. There's just something about Gotham and Christmas that just goes so well together. This issue did sets up an interesting mystery, we get some moments of Bruce bonding with Ace and Titus. As well as him dealing with the fallout of losing Alfred. It's been a tough year on Bruce. He seems rather lonely. But, he's also very focused and feels very in character here. I liked seeing his interactions with Harvey and the artwork itself was very nice. I highly recommend this checking out this issue and this run in general. I'm loving detective Comics because we're getting a large variety of stories with it that has Batman doing some actual detective work and it has been really good. I can't praise this enough. So please check it out.

Red Hood: Outlaw #41:
Ok so this issue happened. I kind of grew disinterested in this book. While I'm very happy to see Artemis and Bizarro reunited after all this time. (Seriously, why did they separate them for a whole fucking year?). I was kind of disappointed that their reunion didn't pack the emotional punch that it should have. Yes, Jason and Artemis kissed (which ultimately helped break her from that spell) but there should have been a big group hug or something. Maybe it's being saved for the next issue. But, we shall see. I'm just happy they're back with Jason. Here's hoping that the series gets really good going forward.

Anyways that's going to wrap it up for this week's issues. One week is now complete and we now have the rest of the year to look forward to. Did you like this weeks books? Did you dislike them? Let me know
