Hey everyone in this update I wanted to talk a bit about the new Teen Titans team that is set to make their big first appearance in the upcoming Teen Titans Special #1!

(The New Team Is Pictured Above. Damian Wayne/Robin, Red Arrow (Emiko Queen), Kid Flash, Roundhouse, Djinn, and Lobo's Daughter Crush).

So as you can all tell. (If you have been reading DC Comics Discussion Page for awhile). I'm a big fan of the Teen Titans. So needless to say. I'm very curious about how things are going to turn out with this new team. The last run on teen titans had its ups and downs. It lacked consistency ever since the Lazarus contract storyline. I'm kind of upset that pretty much all the previous members aren't going to be on this team. We never really got so much as a clear explanation as to why. It was just a throwaway line in Justice League No Justice. We better get an explanation in the upcoming Teen Titans Special otherwise I'm gonna be pissed. Anyways, so with this new team 3 of its members have been established and the other 3 are completely new characters. I'm fine with new characters. Although, it upsets me how Jonathan Kent/Superboy, Maya Ducard/Nobody, and Kathy/Beacon are not on this team. At least Maya should be on it. I don't know why Damian wouldn't recruit her considering their history that they have together. Also, now that Damian is calling the shots he should have Jon on his team or at least make him an honorary member.

The Old Characters:

Damian Wayne/Robin:

So in this book Damian is once again leading the Teen Titans. Although one of the key differences is that this time he's apparently changing his methods of stopping criminals and this time the team of Teen Titans is fully his own. Meaning that he isn't getting any hand me downs from the previous teen titans teams. All the members with the exception of Kid Flash have not been on the teen titans before. Although Emiko did appear in the one arc where her and Damian flirted with each other. But, anyways with this new team I just hope we don't see Damian regress as a character. I'm tired of seeing him make all sorts of progress and then when the next writer takes over they immediately regress him again. (Please just stop that already). But, anyways I expect Damian to be harboring some sort of secrets and I expect him to be a tough as nails leader. One of the things I hope to see is his dynamic with Emiko fleshed out a bit more. They teased something between these two and I would hope that they don't ignore that plot line and that becomes a running sub plot within the books.

Wally West/Kid Flash:

I really need to start reading flash after I finish catching up on reading the Batman books. But, anyways I don't really know what type of role Kid Flash is going to play on this team. I kind of figured that he is going to be like Damian's second in command as they go and recruit the new members of the Teen Titans. Based on one of the previews I've seen it appears that he's going to have to deal with Emiko not dealing with any of his crap.

Emiko Queen/Red Arrow:

Ok, I'm really glad that Emiko is joining the team. Her sarcastic personality makes reading the books she's in a lot more enjoyable. I can see her giving everyone a lot of crap to everyone. (Much like Damian). I'm not sure about all that she's going to be doing in this book. But, I do hope they build upon what they established between her and Damian. I think that "IF" there has to be any sort of romantic tension in this book that it should be between those two. If they don't acknowledge what happened between these two before or build upon it at all. Then I will be very disappointed. Bit, regardless of what happens. I like Emiko Queen and I look forward to seeing what she brings to this team.

The New Characters:

Djinn:

Ok so let's talk about Djinn. I have one major problem with her already. "SHE'S NOT A TEENAGER!"  In fact she's super old. She's a couple thousand years old. She should not be on the "TEEN" Titans. She's a full fledged adult hundreds of times over now. That should disqualify her automatically. Not to mention I read an article where they spoke with the guy who is taking over Teen Titans and they spoke about this.

(BTW they misspelled her name in it).

That "romantically" involved thing has me concerned though. Considering how old she is and how much younger the other characters are. I don't care if she looks like a teenager. She's not a teenager. She's an adult, and the idea of her being romantically involved with a teenager reminds me of that creepy Slade/Terra stuff. So I definitely don't like it. (So if that does end up happening. Who do you see her getting romantically involved with? I think it will be Kid Flash because if it's Damian I'm going to be upset since they already set him up to be with Emiko Queen in the other books. (Also, i want my ship name I created (Damiko) to become more popular by having them form a relationship someday and I just want to see the reaction on the faces of the Batfamily and Green Arrow if they do become some sort of couple lol). But, anyways, seeing as how I don't want Djinn to form a relationship with Damian it's pretty much a guarantee that it will happen because often times what i don't want to see often ends up coming true. Now, with that being said her design looks pretty cool and with her having magical powers it's going to be interesting to see what types of abilities she's going to have in the books. So that has me somewhat interested. I still wish that they would have kept Raven on this book considering that she one of my favorite characters and that she is still an actual teenager unlike Djinn is. But, I'm still going to give Djinn a chance as a character, and who knows, maybe she will surprise me and turn out to be pretty awesome.

Roundhouse:

Out of all the new characters Roundhouse is the one I'm the least interested in. I don't really like the design of this character. Well the blue is ok. But, the haircut mixed with the blue looks terrible. It feels really out of place. He should either be bald or have some sort of headgear/helmet to cover that head of his. But, anyways I see him filling the Beast Boy role as the more lighthearted comedic relief type character of the group, and I can see him teaming up/hanging out with Kid Flash a lot in this book. I'm very curious to see his powers in action. Apparently, they have something to do with various elements.

Crush:

So Crush is supposed to be the Daughter of Lobo. I think the design of her is pretty cool. As far as her characters goes. I don't want her to just be a carbon copy of Lobo per say. I would just like her to carry over "some" of his personality though, not all of it. But, some of it. I have a feeling that she's going to be the standout of the new series. If she isn't I'll be surprised. As far as the new characters go. She is the one who interests me the most of all.

Anyways, so those are the new characters. I really hope that this new run turns out to be a huge success and it turns into a bi-monthly book. I need my teen titans fix and I hate having to wait just once a month for it. I saw that in the September solicitations that "Titans" is getting shipped twice monthly instead of Teen Titans. Even though the "Teen Titans" name is more recognizable.... Oh well I guess... But, anyways I want to continue to discuss this new team in the comments below.
