Shiro x Reader

I typed on my computer furiously, trying anything to get communications up. My ship, or what remained of it, was smoldering on my left. Nothing was working, and I was probably going to die on this darned planet.

01101000 01100101 01101100 01110000

I erased that line of code. Nothing is working, and I'm getting hungry.

A green light beeped on my computer. I looked at it in shock.

"Oh thank goodness."

I grabbed my headphones and plugged them open, trying to open a hailing frequency.

"Hello? Hello? Is anyone there? Hello, my coordinates are (0, 180). I need, well, food quite honestly. And an engineer. And a lot of parts. It looks like I need an engine, a transmitter, a fuselage, and a, you know what, I might just need a ship."

The screen flickered, and suddenly I was speaking to a woman with dark skin, light hair, and weird markings under her eyes.

"Hold on, talk slower."

I let out a huge sigh of relief.

"We'll be there in a second, just hold tight."

"Okay, thanks."

The call ended.

I paced around my little makeshift camp. Stress was replacing my hunger. I didn't recognize the species of the women. Seeing as she had said 'we', it could be assumed she had compatriots, unless she was a bunch of people in one body, which is not to be ruled out. There were too many variables for me to feel very secure in my position, which was currently damsel in distress. What if they were working with the Galra? What if they were just as hungry as I am, and they eat people? What if, what if.

I was deep in thought, but not so deep that I didn't notice the ship the size of a small moon land next to me. It was freaking huge, and white and blue. My hair flew back and I squinted to get a better look. Who was saving me, exactly?

A door the size of my ship opened, and five figures walked out. The biggest and the smallest ran to my ship.

"What happened?"

The big one seemed to be in shock over the state of my ship, which wasn't surprising. There was a reason I couldn't get off the ground.

I shrugged.

"It was a really bad crash."

"No kidding."

Suspicious look from the big one. The little one just squinted at it.

"The damage on this ship looks like what happened to Nyma's ship, only on a much larger scale."

Suddenly the atmosphere darkened. I could feel suspicion burning a hole in the back of my head.

I heard someone cough behind me.

"So, how did this happen?"

The tall buff one had narrowed his eyes at me, and his voice was tinged with suspicion. Whoever this Nyma was, she had done them wrong.

"Are you with the Galra?" Was my immediate response. I didn't want to get killed, thank you very much. If they were Galra, I couldn't let them inside my ship, which had a shipment (ha!) of stolen parts. Stolen Galra parts.

"No. We're Paladins of Voltron."

The red one seemed offended that I couldn't tell just from looking. to be fair, they weren't very intimidating. Other than their huge ship, there wasn't anything particularly impressive about them. There was a really tiny one (green), a fat one (yellow), a skinny one (blue), a skinny short one (red), and a big tall buff scary looking one (black) who was the exception to the unimpressive rule.

If they were the legendary  Paladins of Voltron, would they be mad I was stealing and selling parts on the black market?

"Oh. Well, I got attacked by a Galra vessel for no reason, no reason at all, and crashed here. It banged my ship up pretty good, er, bad I guess, as you can see. It was on its way out anyways, it's pretty old. Just wish it could've lasted the trip, I was gonna sell it after this."

The green one (I'm going to start calling her, at least I think it's a her, Pipsqueak, or Pip for short.) gaped at me.

"Sell this! Why? It's practically a work of art, I'm appalled at what you've done to it."

"What I've done to it? The Galra did this, I was just minding my own business!"

The yellow one (gonna start calling him Sunny.), looked up from his work.

"Her story checks out, only thing that could have done this much damage to this kind of a ship is Galra tech. It's going to take a while to fix."

"All the better."

The blue one (or Chance, since he doesn't have one) wiggled his eyebrows at me. I frowned. I've never been good at taking compliments or reacting to affection, and this one was obviously fairly flirtatious. I turned to Sunny.

"How long is 'a while'? I kind of need to leave, the Galra will probably check the crash site, also known as here, out. They may suspect I didn't die in the crash."

He shrugged. I guess the Paladins don't care about my safety or survival if they can't give me an exact time frame. That is the only way to prove you have some semblance of humanity in you, giving an exact time frame as to how long it will take to fix a destroyed ship.

"Well, that's fantastic. I guess we'll just die or something."

"Don't worry hot stuff, Lance Mcshizzle Bad Boy Supreme is here to make sure no nasty Galra soldiers get you."

He did the eyebrow wiggle thing again. I wish he would stop doing that, it's kind of dorky. He held up his gun thingy and pretended to aim and shoot it at some imaginary Galra.

"Whatever you say, Mcshizzle. But if a Galra soldier steals your toy, I'm not saving your sorry..."

"Enough. Lance, leave her alone, we all remember what happened the last time you tried to woo a damsel in distress."

The tall buff one (here on out known as Tall Buff One), sent Lance Chance on his way.

"I'm sorry about him."

Tall Buff One stood next to me, his hand on my shoulder. Physical contact, another no no.

"It's nothing, I deal with guys like him all the time."

"Guys like him?"

That's right, Y/N, insult the tall scary one's buddy.

"Uhhh, yeah, you know, the guy who flirts with every girl who comes his way but doesn't really want anything, or if he does want something it doesn't really align with what the other person wants, is afraid of commitment, I mean, not to stereotype, but, uh-"

I cut myself off before I could make a bigger fool of myself than I already had. I shrugged.

"He does come across that way, doesn't he?"

He seemed amused at my summary of his friends profile. I shrugged again.

"Yeah, he acts like that around girls, but I doubt he's afraid of commitment. He's been with us for a long time now, and has never looked back. He is a flirt, but I think there's a specific girl he's got his eye on."

His eyes drifted to Pip. Pip was talking excitedly about something or other, while Sunny listened intently. So she was a girl. She held up a burning part in her hand and squinted at it, probably trying to figure out how big of a moron I would have to be to get my ship so damaged.

"Ah. Gonna be honest, did not see that one coming. Probably because I don't know you guys very well, but still."

He laughed. If that isn't both nice and kind of terrifying.

"Yeah, me neither. It wasn't until he practically murdered a Galra soldier who was aiming at her that I realized where his feelings lay." (A/N: Lay, layed, lie, lied, what is the tense?)

I wasn't entirely sure on how to reply to that, so I didn't. He seemed to notice my uncertainty, but he didn't say anything, so that's a win I guess.

We stayed there in silence, just kind of watching as the two paladins worked on my ship. My legs started to hurt, but I didn't want to move. I was worried that they were going to ruin my ship, or give up, or fix it and then kill me. I didn't have a visual on the red or blue one anymore, and the scary one was the one who was next to me so, whatever. The two least scary ones were the ones fixing my ship, and they were the only ones preoccupied, so they couldn't kill me, but I had little doubt the other three could. I'd never even met the lady who answered my call, so, whatever again.

"Do we intimidate you?" Tall Buff One asked me, looking at me quizzically.

"Is it that obvious? And here I thought I was being sly."

He smiled. "I'm pretty observant, I'm sure no one else has noticed."

Of course no one else has noticed, none of them are looking at me. Wait, he's been looking at me?! Tall Buff (and scary) One? Oh dear.

"Okay, thanks for the reassurance." (NOT!)

So, I've been working on this one for a while, and I'm not really sure how to move forward with it. If anyone has any ideas, don't be shy. Also, sorry if you've sent in a request and I haven't gotten to it yet, I'm trying to keep up with them. I'll edit this one to finish it later, and you know, give it an ending, but I felt bad for not publishing anything in a while.
