A few days later....

Hide's P.O.V.

I woke up with Kaneki in my arms. His back was facing me and his long white hair was a bit of a mess. His cheek was being squished against his pillow and he was holding onto my arm. I tucked some of his hair behind his ear before kissing him on the cheek. I smiled at him before trying to wake him up.

"Kaneki, wake up." I said as I gently shook him. He groaned in response.

"What?" He grumbled out. It's never been that easy to wake him up after his coma.

"I'm going to make myself breakfast, okay?"

"Yeah, okay." He said before I sighed and let him go. Then I got out of the blanket and off our bed before getting dressed and walking out of our bedroom. I went to the kitchen and made myself bacon and eggs. I made myself a plate and a glass of orange juice before sitting at the table. After I ate, I went back into the kitchen to clean the dishes. And after I got done cleaning dishes, I heard footsteps behind me. I turned around to see Kaneki, but he had eye bags and his eyes were a little pinkish. He also looked paler then usual, well on his face. The rest of his skin was that red and had that scale like feeling. He just looked down right horrible. He was wearing grey sweat pants and one of his black t-shirt for pajamas. It was summer and we were both hot last night, but that didn't stop him from wanting to cuddle.

"You feeling okay, Kaneki?" I asked with concern.

"No, I have a headache and my stomach hurts." He said as he put a hand on his forehead. And used his other arm to hug around his stomach. I walked over to him and put a hand on his shoulder and my other hand on his cheek.

"Maybe you should go lay back down. Or least sit on the couch."

"O-Okay, I-I'll go-" He said before gagging and covering his mouth with his hand. I was about to say something before he ran to the bathroom. I ran after him before hearing the sounds of puking. I walked into the bathroom and saw him hunched over the toilet. I kneeled beside him and held his hair out of his face. I started to rub his back as well. He continued to throw up a couple more times before finally stopping. After he stopped, he held his head up with his hand. His arm was resting on the toilet.

"You okay now?" I asked as I continued to rub his back.

"N-No, I still feel like I'm going to throw up."

"Okay, let's get you to lay in bed. Alright?" I said before he weakly nodded. Then I helped him stand up before flushing the toilet. I helped him walk to the bedroom. Which was a little hard because he was heavier then he was in college.

"Abs and muscle, that's all are you are. No wonder you're so heavy now." I teased him.

"S-Sorry."

"You don't need to apologize." I said before helping him sit on our bed. I tucked him in bed before getting a tissue to wipe off vomit off his chin and the side of his mouth. "You comfortable?" I asked as I finished tucking him in.

"I feel hot." He responded.

"Okay, I'll take your temperature. Then give a different blanket. Alright?" I said before he nodded. Then I went to the bathroom and got the thermometer and the small trash can. I went back to the bedroom before he sat up and I put the trash can next to our bed. I sat next to him on the edge of the bed before getting him to put the thermometer under his tongue. As I waited for the thermometer to beep, I got up and went to a drawer to get one of his black undershirts that was a tank top. I went back to Kaneki before handing him the undershirt.

"This might help you cool down." I said before he nodded. Then the thermometer beeped. I sat on the edge of the bed before he handed me the thermometer. "100, jeez. No wonder you feel hot." I said before he nodded while looking like he was going to fall over onto the bed. The undershirt was in his lap.

"Okay, let's just get you to rest." I said before he took off his t-shirt and put on his undershirt. Then he laid down before I tucked him back in. I put the thermometer on the bedside table as he took the blanket off.

"I-I don't really want a blanket right now. I'll just stay with the bed sheet." He said.

"Okay. I'll be back." I said before he nodded. Then I went to the kitchen to get him a wet rag before going back to Kaneki. I put the wet rag on his forehead before kissing him on the head. "Rest, okay?"

"Okay." He said before I smiled. Then I started to walk away before he grabbed the back of my shirt. I turned back to look at him. "C-Can you stay with me?" He said as he blushed with embarrassment or his fever. I couldn't tell the difference right now.

"Yeah, I'll get my laptop. So, I could work." I said before he nodded and let my hand go. I went to the living room and got my laptop off the charger, and I got my charger too. Then I got a chair from the kitchen table before I went back to the bedroom. I really needed a desk. I put the chair next to the bed before sitting down, I just put the charger on the floor for now. I opened up my laptop before getting some more work done. Kaneki fell asleep after a few minutes though.

After he was asleep, I got my phone and messaged Marude that I wasn't going to be able to come to work today. And after a long conversation he let me stay home, but only until Kaneki was better. I was satisfied with that and put my phone back on the bedside table. Then I started to research if there was any medicine I could give Kaneki, with him being a ghoul and everything. However, in the middle of me researching, Kaneki started to whimper and have a shaky breath. I put my laptop on the bedside table before running over to him.

"Hey hey Kaneki, what's wrong?" I asked with concern as I rubbed his shoulder. Which was a little sweaty. He only let out another small whimper. "Do you feel hotter?" I said before he nodded his head. "Okay, hang on Kaneki." I said before walking out of the room and got another wet rag, this one colder then the last. Then I went back to Kaneki before taking off the old rag and putting on the new one on his forehead. He let out a shaky breath as I put the sheet back over him.

After that, he seemed to calm down. I got the thermometer off the bedside table and had him put it under his tongue. After it beeped, I looked at it and all I could do was sigh. It was 101. Why was his temperature continuing to go up? I put the thermometer back on the bedside table before I sat on the chair again and continued my research. But again after awhile he started uneven breaths again. I rushed to him and rubbed his arm to try to help him up.

"Hi-Hide, tr-trash c-ca-" He stuttered out before gagging and covering his mouth, causing the wet rag to fall into his lap. I gave him the trash can before he puked into it. I just rubbed his back as he puked his guts out. After a few minutes, he stopped with just some panting.

"Did that make you feel any better?" I said before he just collapsed onto the bed while holding up the trash can. I set the trash can back onto the floor and I sighed before I put my hand on his head. I could still feel him sweating. Then he moved the bed sheet off of him to take off his sweat pants. Leaving him in his undershirt and boxers. After that, he laid back down on his back, panting. I just felt helpless at this point. Here he was panting, sweating, burning up, and a couple wet rags. And he's still feels like he's burning up.

I just sat there for awhile as I rubbed his shoulder and sometimes his arm. Just trying to comfort him, but it was doing nothing.

"Hey, Ken..." I said after awhile.

"Y-Yeah?" He responded.

"I'm going to go get you a glass of water, okay? I'll be back."

"Al-Alright." He said before I sat up and kissed him on the forehead. Then I got the wet rag and went to the kitchen. I got a glass and filled it up with water and got the rag wet again before going back to the bedroom. I had Kaneki sit up before I gave him the glass and he started to drink it. But he was a little shaky, so I held the bottom of it.

"There you go. Just take little sips." I said before he drank half of the glass. He didn't want to drink the last of it because he said it was starting to make him feel sick. So, I didn't force him to drink more. I put the glass on the bedside table before getting the thermometer again. I had him put it under his tongue before putting the rag on his forehead. As I waited for the thermometer to beep, I held his hand. He still felt sweaty. After the thermometer beeped, I let him go and took the thermometer out of his mouth. It was 102. He just seemed to get hotter and hotter. I just felt so helpless looking at him laying on the bed. Just trying to cool him down.

"Alright that's it, I'm calling Kimi." I said before standing up and putting the thermometer on the bedside table.

"What?" Kaneki said as I got my phone.

"You heard me." I said as I started looking for Kimi's contact.

"We probably shouldn't bother her. Is she even off work today?" He asked as I put my phone to my ear.

"I'm gonna find out."

"Hey, Hide! How are you doing?" Kimi said after she picked up the phone.

"Good, I guess." I responded.

"That's good."

"Hey are you off today, or least can take a lunch brake, or something."

"I'm off today. Why?"

"Kaneki is sick. He woke up this morning with a headache and a stomachache. He threw up before I helped him lay down in bed. And he still feels like he going to throw up. He's fever keeps going up, and I can't get him to cool down. No matter how many cold wet rags I put on his forehead. I just feel helpless right now and need help."

"Okay, yeah, I'll come over. I'll get there as fast as possible."

"Alright, thank you."

"Welcome." She said before hanging up.

"Is she coming over?" Kaneki asked as he looked at me. He was still lying on his back.

"Yeah, she is. Don't know if Nishki is coming with her though." I said as I sat at the edge of the bed.

"Okay." He said before groaning and held his stomach. He made a face of pain too.

"Feeling sick again?" I said before he nodded and let out a small groan. "I'm sorry." I said as I rubbed his arm. I just stayed there with him until there was a knock at the door. I let his hand go and put the sheet over up to his waist because he didn't have pants on. I went to the front door and looked through the peep hole to see who it was. It was Kimi. I opened the door and let her in. She took off her shoes before I lend her to Kaneki. When I opened the door, we both saw he looked extremely ill lying on our bed. His face was paler then it was his morning and he was panting and sweaty. Kimi walked over to his side before she felt how hot he was around his neck. Which he groaned a little at.

"Dang, he is burning up. What was his temperature when you took it?" She said.

"It was 102. But this morning it was 100." I responded.

"His temperature went up two degrees since this morning? He really is sick." She said before standing up and taking her hand off his neck. He pulled up the bed sheet, guessing he was trying to go back to sleep from being tired.

"Has he slept at all?" She asked.

"Yes, he's had two short naps."

"Drank any water?"

"I got him to drink some before he let like it was going to take them throw up again."

"Can you two stop being so loud?" Kaneki groaned out before we looked at him. He was moving onto his side and let his feet out from the bed sheet. And the wet rag fell onto his pillow. Me and Kimi looked at each other before I sighed. I walked over to him and moved his hair behind his ear before kissing him on the side of his face before he groaned and pulled to moved away. Then me and Kimi walked into the living room. I quietly closed the bedroom door as we walked out.

"So, what do you say?" I asked her.

"I can go to the store for you, because you have to stay with him, to get medicine for his fever and nausea. But with the medicine he'll need to take a bigger dose then recommended for his weight because medicine doesn't work as well on ghouls then humans like us. Their bodies basically have built up a system in there bodies to fight against it for some reason. Probably because it thinks it's human food. But with Kaneki being so weakened, it could just be his illness."

"Alright, I'll look after him while you go to the store." I said before she nodded and went to get her shoes back on. I quietly walked back into mine and Kaneki's bedroom. I sat in the chair next to the bed before I got my laptop and started on work again. That is until I heard Kaneki moving around. I looked at him and saw that he was turning his head to look over his shoulder.

"Hey, you waking up?" I asked in a lower voice. It got him to look at me before he held out his hand in front of him. I sighed before closing my laptop and putting it back on the bedside table. I held his hand and sat on the bed before he let go of my hand and cuddled my leg by wrapping his arm around my leg. He also nuzzled against my leg too. He was just being cute. I sighed before I started to play with his hair. Which he seemed to like because he lightly smiled. When Kimi got back, I got out of bed. Which Kaneki groaned at. She gave me the medicine before telling me to update her if anything else happened, I agreed before she left. When it was time for bed, Kaneki really wanted me to stay with him. So, I made a palette on the floor to sleep on.
