Kaneki's P.O.V.

I woke up with beeping filling a room. I ever so slowly opened my eyes. I winced at the brightness of the sun. My eyes againsted to the light and I looked around. I seemed to be in a hospital room. Oh, how that brings back the memories. I looked to my left and saw that Hide was sitting in a chair. He was holding his head up with his hand, which his arm was on the arm of the chair. His lips were partly open and he was snoring lightly. Has he been looking after me? The last thing I remember is the fight with Rize.

I figured out that the beeping was the heart monitor. I looked on my chest and saw where the thing keeping track of my heartbeat was. I slowly reached for it. Maybe I can get out of here before the CCG wants to do something to me, I am pretty much a criminal after everything I did. Despite how I helped stop Rize.

I winced as I pulled the thing off, it had sticky stuff on so it would stick onto you. And it hurt to pull it off. I finally got it off before I noticed a small air tube on my face probably helping me breath while I was out, and was about to pull the IV out if my wrist, when the heart monitor went off. It was a loud continuing sound. I saw Hide's eyes instantly open at the sound. He looked panicked, I knew why. That could of actually been me dying.

He stood up and was about to probably shake me, when he saw that my eyes were open. I held my hands in front of me, showing him I was okay. He let out a heavy sigh as he sat back in his chair. He also put a hand on his forehead.

"You just scared the shit out of me." He said. And he cursed? That's rare.

"I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking. I just wanted to get the thing off."

"You should probably put it back on before nurses come running in here."

"Yeah." I said before trying to put it back on my chest. I couldn't get it back in the right spot, but I got it close enough to where it was following my heartbeat again.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"I have a headache. But other then that, I'm okay."

"That's good." He said before I held myself up with my forearms. I was trying to get out off the hospital bed. If I do get out of bed, I'll probably try to walk while holding onto the heart monitor and IV. But Hide saw what I was doing and stood up.

"Hey, hey lay back down. You need to rest, you just came out of a coma." He said as he put his hands on my shoulders and gently pushed me back down.

"Fine." I said with a sigh. Hide let go of my shoulders and sat back down in his chair. "How long was I in a coma?"

"2 weeks. Do you want see everyone else?" He replied.

"No, I sort of want to be alone right now."

"Do you want me to leave? I don't know if I should, you might try to jump out the window if I do."

"No, you can stay. I haven't seen you in years."

"You got to see me before you went to fight Rize. You seriously ran to me and tackled me in a hug. You were about to make me fall onto my back."

"Could you blame me? I haven't gotten to see you in years."

"No, I can't. I actually really liked that hug."

"By the way, who got me out of there? Because I remember passing out in that place."

"Ayato did. He found you when you were about to drown in some nasty stuff."

"I'll thank him when I see him." I said before we went silent for a few minutes. I shivered at the coldness of the hospital room. And I was only wearing a hospital gown they had put me in, and boxers. I covered myself with the blanket and rolled onto my right side. But it didn't do much.

"You cold?" He asked. I nodded in response.

"Here." He said as he stood up and took off his jacket. Then he covered my arms and shoulders with it. "I don't know if it will do much though." He said as I heard him sit in his chair again. I only pulled the jacket up, so it was covering my mouth and nose. I smelled it, I know that's weird but I couldn't help it. It smelled just like him, he must have been wearing it for awhile. I blushed and closed my eyes. And nuzzled my nose into the jacket.

"Does my jacket really smell that good?" He asked in a tensing tone. I blushed even harder, my face felt like it was on fire. The tips of my ears were probably blushing too. I slowly rolled onto my back. And I looked at Hide.

"Could you come here, please?" I asked.

"Dude, I have been up and down since you woke up. But sure." He said before standing up for the millionth time. I held onto his shirt and pulled him down. He held himself up with his hands."Ken, what are you doing?"

"I don't know how to really say this. But when I was fighting Rize and thinking I was going to die doing that. You were the only thing that came to my mind. It made me realize that I loved you and I didn't even know it until I was probably going to die. I don't know if you feel the same way about me, but-" I said before I was cut off by Hide kissing me. My eyes widened and I was frozen for a few minutes. Before I closed my eyes and kissed back. We continued to kiss before he pulled away.

"I love you too. I already have for awhile." He said.

"For how long?"

"Since I think we were kids, I think."

"Is that why you told me to give up on asking Rize on a date? Because you were jealous?"

"Sort of." He said before I put my hands on his cheeks and kissed him again.

"I love you, Hideyoshi Nagachika." I said after we pulled away. I don't usually use his whole name, I'm being serious if I do.

"I love you too, Ken Kaneki." He said with a smile and I smiled back before he leaned down for another kiss. We smiled in this kiss. We were just so happy.
