POV Jack

I peek outside from the hole in the door. I need to back up quickly when the fist hits it again, this time it comes through completely. The girl named Astrid changed to one of those undead, her fist is getting scratched to blood when the wood hits her flesh as she bangs the door.

“Ideas?” I whisper to Hiccup. He was in front of his drawing board, mumbling by himself and making sketches. “Heureka!” He yelled and came to me showing his sketch. ”Uh.. is that supposed to be me?” There was a tiny drawn stick figure that was holding a thing that slightly resembled my staff. “Yeah but you can’t expect something spectacular in this amount of time!” He exhaled and I nodded my approval.

“Please guys, hurry!” Merida yelled as she was keeping the bed steady against the door. Astrid’s whole hand was now through it and her groaning sounded awful. The twins and the guy called Fishlegs were also now at the door and trying to push through. The whole door was shaking from their power.

Hiccup cleared his throat, “So, Jack. You take that rope from there,” he pointed at his closet door, “ and then you go to my balcony.” I nodded. “WAIT! You have a balcony in sky builder?” I exhaled and he smiled.

“Jack. Concentrate,” Hiccup sighed and I nodded but couldn’t resist smiling. A balcony in sky builder, geez! We are so high. “So what about me, rope and the balcony?” I smirked to him. He chuckled and smiled faintly, “And a set of wings.”

My eyes widened. “You don’t say that?” He nodded, ”Yeah, put on the wings and fly! Don’t forget the rope!” He pushed me close to wall and pulled curtains off. Indeed there was a narrow door leading to a balcony.

“It is coming through!” Punzie exhaled. ”Hold him still!” Hiccup was now holding a weird thing that had two metallic dew drop shaped things attached to straps. Punzie grabbed my waist and Elsa held my arms, “Hey! No!” Soon I was wearing a thing Hiccup called as ‘sky glider’. I am a daredevil but this is a bit much.

“This is the only chance,” Hiccup whispered and I saw how half of the door was already missing. “Soon they will get in, “ Hiccup swallowed loudly. “Aha. So, where do I glide?” I walked onto the balcony.

Hiccup pointed across the street and forward. “I think that mall rooftop couple of blocks further will be alright,” He patted my back. “This really works?” I gasp as I watch my destination so far away and low. And far. “Sure it will pal,” he laughs nervously and ties the rope around me.

I sigh and jump. Falling. Falling and Falling. ”Open the wings you fool!” Hiccup’s voice reaches me and I spread my arms. The air lifts me, raising me up. The climbing rope isn’t tightening yet. Maybe I will succeed. The mall’s roof is getting closer. Closer. TOO CLOSE! I hit onto elevator shafts ventilation system. ”These darn things don’t have brakes!” I shook the wings off and untied the rope from around me.

“Now, where should I tie this..” I run all over the roof, but then I see a perfect place to tie the rope. There is the Antenna pole, I secure the rope and pull it three times. I feel how the rope gets tighter also three times, they responded me similarly. First there comes Punzie and directly after her a bag that is filled with weapons arrives. They use the climbing gear to glide down. “God the situation is bad in there,” Punzie exhales.

The whirling sound appears again, Hiccup send Toothless down and we untie his dog. Where is she? As soon as Hiccup’s dog is on the roof the sound appears again. They move fast since the rope is placed really highly compared to the landing spot. The red hair catches my attention, this time it was Merida. She unclips herself quickly. ”They’re in trouble!” she turns around and looks at the balcony’s direction. I see that in her back is tied my Staff and her crossbow.

“What do you mean?” I ask with worry from Merida. ”Those things got in just when they sended me away,” she whispers. We all stare at the sky builder’s direction. It is the brick of dawn. The sky is painted in pink and yellow, the sunrise of an ending. “They’re gone,” Punzie sobs when we see or hear nothing of Hiccup or Elsa.

Then I heard snapping sound, the rope tightens really tight and scream fills the air. “Oh god! They’re using it in the same time!” Punzie exhales and I see how Hiccup is coming first, yelling us to give room. He unties his belt quickly and falls to rooftop. Elsa is coming few meters away from her. The snapping sound gets worse. I glance to my right and see how the rope is ripping apart.

She is going to fall before she is on the roof. I run towards her, I need to get to her. I see her eyes, so terrified and she reaches her hand into mine. A loud snap, the rope flies right beside of my face and it’s end slashes my face leaving a bloody rash after. Elsa is falling just before she was able to get on top of the roof she fell. I jump forward and I reach as far as I could. My fingers wrap around her arm, I am hanging over the edge with half of my body. “I got you,” I whisper to her and smile. Her tear filled eyes now shine after she started to smile and laugh in relief.

Someone grabs my feet, pulls me back. “Help. Me.” It is Hiccup and he is pulling as hard as he can. Suddenly we are being lifted faster. Elsa comes over the edge right after me. I gasp when she jumps to my neck, thanking me. I pat her back, “Actually it was not that much.”

POV Punzie

Jack is such a hero, I wish it would have been me who needed his help. He might be comforting me now. Oh, at least Elsa is now alright.

“What happened?” Jack asks from us. Actually it was interesting since when I left things were quite calm. “Those things destroyed the door and came in. Climbing over the bed,” Elsa was shivering in Jack’s embrace. “H-Hiccup froze when Astrid came. Her eyes were so scary, white and without life,” Elsa gasped. “I had to cut her neck but it was so difficult. She was much stronger than the other’s and faster.”

Hiccup had been standing now further away from us. “I..I loved her,” Hiccup sobbed. “I was mean to her! I loved her before and still liked her!” He yelled tear eyed and we all stared at him. I was the first one who went and hugged him, after me even Merida did the same. Elsa tried her tears and hugged us three and from corner of my eye I saw Jack starting to stand. With his hands in his hoodie’s pocket’s he slowly walked to us. “Uh.. Don’t get this in a weird way,” He whispered to Hiccup and joined our group hug. I felt Jack’s arm around me.

“Thank you guys,” Hiccup whispered and slowly we all got separated. I go and watch over the edge. The streets are filled with people who are moving mindlessly. They have turned. Now I am able to see the destruction in the streets, lots of car crashes have happened. Even a fire truck is laying on its side. “Uh..guys, I think we need to get some supplies,” I whisper to them as I see how one food stores window has been crushed in with a car. The shelves seem empty already. “People are hoarding!” Merida exhales. She is so right. Even the building that Hiccup lived once is now breached, there is an army truck that has crashed inside and causing the explosions. Maybe nowhere is safe?

”Maybe the mall has something?” Hiccup sounds unemotional, cold and hurt. Jack pushes the rooftop door open using his shoulder after he  had examined it.  He almost flies down the stairs but barely managed to stop himself. “Whoa!” He chuckled, “Close call!”

Jack jumps over the railing in the stairway, getting himself down faster than us who use the steps. “Stop showing off,” Elsa snaps at him and Jack jumps over just one more time before he uses the actual steps like normal people. In my mind it seemed cool. He is so much different from the people I have met before. Unfortunately I don’t know much about him. Maybe we should discuss about our pasts? That would be really nice way to bond!

“I was wondering,” I say shyly, “if we could get to know each other more?” No one was listening. They all were focused on the door at the end of the stairs, leading to the mall. “Will it be safe?” I whispered and we all looked at each other. “We will know soon,” Hiccup opened the door and we went inside the mall. It was quiet. Well, the sports event was the first day of these events and it was one of church holidays which meant that the place would have been closed.

“Yahoo!” Jack yelled and Elsa crushed his toes right after that. “Stay quiet you idiot!” Jack seemed hurt more about her words. “Let me see!” I kneeled down to examine if anything broke. Jack backed up, ”Uh.. I am fine, thanks.” He messed his hair and smiled, it made my heart flutter inside.

Hiccup glanced all around us. “Seems safe, “ he said and we started to examine the place.
