Chapter 6

Quick AN: OK so FTO Mario One shots is still on pause and I finished another chapter of this story... I hope you enjoy! Also: Michael is smart bean.

Later that night, Michael and Ritchie were introduced to the rest of Divinus Magicae's guild members as well as the Protectors. The guys reacted much like Mario but Kit and Kay on the other hand? Well, the two girls were cooing over both boys. They thought that Michael and Ritchie were the cutest things, which made Older Ritchie and Brandon a little uncomfortable.

Honestly, it made Michael uncomfortable as well so he was hiding behind the guild masters after telling his cousin that he was just going to talk to his and Brandon's older counterparts. Of course, this was how he noticed that the two guild masters were uncomfortable as well.

"Let me guess, it's weird to see a different, younger version of yourself/your brother getting cooed over?" Michael asked.

"Definitely." The guild masters agreed. "It's also weird that he's just basking in the attention."

"I mean that's generally what happens when parents don't pay enough attention to their kids, they look for attention elsewhere." Michael said simply. Both guild masters looked at Michael sharply, shocked at what he just said.

"What does that mean?" Brandon asked.

"Our parents are very busy, all the time. They care enough for us to make sure that we don't get hurt and every time we do see them they tell us they love us but none of our parents are around often enough." Michael said sadly. "The most an adult has ever really paid attention to us is our time at daycare with Austin and Bri..."

The brothers were silent for a while minute before Older Ritchie asked. "So why aren't you over there basking in the attention if neither of your parents are around often enough?"

"People can react differently... Ritchie basks in the attention because that's how he learned how to deal with it. I retreated into books and because of that, I came out more anti-social." Michael explained.

"Around adults that he doesn't know for the most part." They turned in surprise as they heard Ritchie speak. The young vampire was standing there having finally got his fill of attention.

Ritchie scooped up his younger cousin using his vampire strength and sat in his chair, placing him in his lap. "You're very social around the kids at daycare."

"I don't know about social..." Michael shook his head.

"Oh? What about Kaylee~" Ritchie teased.

"Shut up!" Michael said covering his face with his hands.

"But its cute, cousin." Ritchie cooed.

"What about little Susie?" Michael countered and this time Ritchie was saying. "Ok let's stop right there, Cousin Michael."

"I mean you were the one who brought up girls." Michael pointed out innocently.

"Ok, hold up, you two are four-five years old and you have crushes?" Brandon had to ask.

"What's so strange about that? A lot of little kids have crushes." Kit asked cutting in on the conversation. "Honestly, it's adorable."

"I'm not adorable." Michael pouted. "I'm cool."

Brandon and Older Ritchie both chuckled at the mature child's childish reaction to being called adorable. Michael just huffed turning away from the cooing girl and the chuckling guild members. He summoned a book and started reading to ignore them.

The mages of Divinus Magicae and the Protectors were impressed with the display of 'magic' but Michael just ignored them as he read. Ritchie just smiled at his cousin before he started to read over his shoulder but stopped after like five seconds.

"Did you have to get a book that I don't understand?" Ritchie whined.

"To put it quite simply, yes." Michael nodded as he continued to read.

"I thought you said you were smart enough to keep up with him?" Brandon asked raising an eyebrow.

"Not when it comes to Quantum Physics and Mechanics." Michael shrugged.

Everyone in the guild blinked before someone asked. "What the heck even is that?"

Michael blinked once, twice before he understood. "Its something that exists in our world, not yours apparently. Just know that its a very complicated subject that is pretty hard for most people to understand."

When they still looked confused, Michael handed the book over to the Older Ritchie and said. "This is a basic Quantum Physics and Mechanics book. I don't know if you'll be able to understand it since your world doesn't even have this but just try."

Older Ritchie started reading and got maybe three pages into the book before handing the book back. "Yeah, no. I've never heard of most of those things."

"That's what I thought." Michael said as he began to read again. "Don't worry, Ritchie can't understand beyond the first two sentences so you got further than him."

"How can you understand that?" Older Ritchie had to ask.

"This is basic, I have ones that are much more complicated. As for how I told you, I'm a genius and that's not bragging, its a fact." Michael told him. "Only reason I've lived this long."

The entire guild fell silent even as Ritchie hugged his cousin.

"W-what do you m-mean by that?" Jakey was the first to ask.

Ritchie and Michael looked at each other before coming to a decision. They looked back at the mages and Ritchie said. "Our world isn't the safest place at times. No, we're not going to elaborate on that. If you want to know more you can ask my older counterpart or Brandon, they can choose whether or not they would like to share what information they have with you."

The mages looked concerned while Ritchie just looked down and Michael chose to return to his book, summoning a pencil as well so he could scribble down little notes into the margins.

Conversation resumed after a bit when David decided to ask. "So what kind of magic do you little guys use? I mean it looks like your cousin has requip magic but what magic do you have mini-Ritchie?"

"Our world doesn't have magic. I can summon things due to an accident in our world and apparently am very fast when high on sugar, and while Ritchie can do certain things, its because he is a vampire, not because he has magic." Michael said simply, not looking up from his book.

"What's a vampire?" Was the resounding question through the guild hall.

"Not going through that fiasco again so something that doesn't exist in this world." Michael said simply.

"It basically means I have advanced senses, strength, and speed, can't go out during the day, and I can do this." After saying the last thing, Ritchie turned into a bat and flew over their heads before settling upside down on Michael's stretched out arm even as his cousin held the book with the other one.

"You can transform into animals?" Kay asked, her eyes shining like little stars.

"No, he can only transform into a bat." Michael corrected not taking his eyes off his book.

"Why are you so focused on that book?" Bryan asked curiously.

"I'm using it to try and think of ways to build a portal back to our world." Michael said simply as he flicked the page. "Man, I wish Evan was here, he would be good to bounce ideas off with."

"Whose Evan?" Brandon asked curiously.

"He's another kid at daycare who's almost as smart as Michael." Ritchie answered after transforming back into his human form. "They bounce ideas off each other while I just come along for the ride."

"He's also one of Silver and Dream's kids." Michael decided to add.

"The guildmaster and second command of the Wandering Coins are together in your world?" David asked sounding a little surprised.

"That is correct." Michael nodded before going back to his book, making little notes here and there before summoning a whole different notebook and starting make charts and diagrams in it.

"I can't even make sense of the charts." Ritchie pouted as he looked over Michael's shoulder.

"It's alright, Cousin Ritchie, these are just to help me determine what route would be the most feasible." Michael comforted his cousin.

Ritchie still pouted causing Michael to giggle at his cousin which brought a smile to the older mages' faces.
