Chapter 10

Michael had finished up his notes and he and Ritchie had begun work on the newest portal. They were working hard on the newest portal when Older Ritchie zapped beside them.

"Other version of me." Ritchie greeted before shaking his head and saying. "We really gotta get some way to shorten that or something..."

"Yeah..." Older Ritchie agreed before he shook his head. "I need both of you to come with me now."

"What? Why?" Michael asked looking at the adult in concern.

"You'll see, just take my hands and we can be there in a flash." The two boys took Older Ritchie's hands before being zapped away. Soon they were in front of the guildhall with the other mages of Divinus Magicae and the Protectors but they weren't the only ones. And upon seeing who else was there, both boys' eyes lit up in joy.

"Brandon!" They both cried as they latched onto either side of the boy.

The ten year old chuckled as he hugged both his brother and his cousin close.

"How'd you get here?" Michael asked when he finally pulled away.

"The cards led me here." Was all Brandon said confusing the mages while Ritchie and Michael just nodded.

"Cards?" Silver asked.

"Brandon is really into tarot cards. They allow him to do certain things but he mostly uses them for predicting the future." Ritchie explained.

"W-wait what?" Jakey said in surprise.

"Honestly when he started, I was skeptical since tarot cards aren't generally too reliable but after he used them to prevent thirteen attempted assassinations on himself-"

"Fourteen." Brandon corrected him.

"It went up?" Ritchie had to ask.

"Yep, almost happened just before we went over to Godfather Austin's daycare. Our Bjorn took care of the threat once informed however." Brandon said simply.

Michael and Ritchie nodded, they both knew that their Bjorn wouldn't let anything happen to Ritchie or Brandon.

"Assassination at-tempts?" Jakey said in complete shock.

"We did mention our world wasn't safe." Michael pointed out.

"You didn't mention assassination attempts though." Kit countered, looking concerned for the three boys.

"Don't worry, no assassination attempts have gotten close since I started predicting them and our Bjorn started working for our fathers." Brandon reassured her.

"Yeah- wait how is mother and father?" Ritchie asked looking at his older brother with Michael as he echoed his cousin's question.

"They're worried. Father nearly scared Godfather Austin to death when we arrived at the daycare, but other than that, everyone is just worried about you two and probably me now that I am also here." Brandon told them.

Suddenly both Ritchie and Michael's eyes went wide. "Brandon, how did you even get here?"

"I used one of my cards." Brandon shrugged. "Found some residue from when you two traveled here and then just used that with one of my cards to get into this world."

"Does that mean you can use that same card to travel back?" Ritchie asked with shining eyes filled with excitement at the prospect of going home.

"The cards predicted another portal would be needed." Brandon said cryptically.

"... You seriously didn't think that you would need another card? You? The one who sees everything?" Michael asked raising an eyebrow.

"The cards said we wouldn't be going home the way I came." Brandon said still cryptic but you could hear the sigh in his voice.

Michael and Ritchie sighed as well while the other mages looked confused.

"Um what?" Inmo asked.

"I didn't bring a second portal card but that's fine because the cards predicted that we'd be getting home a different way." Brandon told him.

"Did 'the cards' say how you would be getting back?" Older Brandon asked.

"I didn't look that far." Brandon admitted rubbing the back of his neck. "I honestly just wanted to make sure they weren't hurt as my cards couldn't tell me that."

Ritchie and Michael hugged him tighter at that.

"Wait I thought you said your world doesn't have magic?" Older Ritchie asked curiously.

"Tarot cards are more of a spiritual thing than a magical thing. Also, magic does exist but it's reserved for fairies, nymphs, and deities; it's not available to most." Brandon answered that question as Michael said. "I stopped questioning Brandon and his tarot cards when he wouldn't let me experiment on them."

"... So ignoring what Michael said about experimenting on something, you're stuck here now too?" Silver asked turning to Brandon.

"Yeah, for now at least. My cards predicted at least three more major events before we have a chance at going home." Brandon nodded.

"That long?" Michael groaned.

"Don't worry, they will happen quicker than you think." Brandon reassured his cousin.

"So we have another guest... mini-Brandon, you fine sleeping with both of them?" Older Ritchie asked the ten year old.

"I will be fine, that's what I usually end up doing during thunderstorms anyway." Brandon nodded. "Neither can sleep without granny's lullaby during one of those."

Older Brandon and Older Ritchie exchanged glances at that but said nothing.
