Chapter 5 - Actions Speak Louder Than Words

I stand outside the training room in the Batcave trying to think about what I was going to say to Damian. I needed to apologize. Taking a deep breath, I walk into the room to see him focused on his sword training. He knew I was here. I know he does.

"What do you want?" he questions not stopping his training.

"I wanted to talk and apologize." I say as I near the training floor.

"I'm busy."

"Okay, I'll just talk then." I say as I move over to the sword stand. "I want to explain myself to you. My actions back at the apartment are completely justifiable. At that time, I didn't know you were Robin, or that Bruce was Batman. Learning that, and realizing that you knew who I was, hurt me. I felt like I was being lied to and I took that out on you. I should never have done that. I apologize from the bottom of my heart."

"What about Connor?" Damian asks pausing his training.

"Connor is my son. My DNA was also used in his creation. Not many people know this."

"Why did you keep it a secret?"

"At the time we believed it was for the best. I understand now that it was the wrong thing to do. I won't hide it anymore. I'm sorry." I say as I take a step toward him. "Would you like to tell me why you got so upset?"

"You're my mother." Damian states and I stop dead in my tracks. "Well, the closest thing I've ever had to a real mother."

"Did you feel that Connor coming into our lives would make me love you any less?" I ask as tears sting my eyes. "Because there is no way that would ever happen. Please, give me a chance to prove it to you." I close the distance between us and reaching him I hold my arms out to him. I wasn't going to force this. This had to be on his terms.

Damian stares at me for a moment his eyes narrowed. Would he forgive me? He was a very 'actions speak louder than words' believer, and so was I. Damian was a child, yes, but he was extremely intelligent for his age. I couldn't and wouldn't treat him like a child.

"No more secrets." He states and I nod.

"No more. Only the truth from here on out." I reply and he instantly rushes into my arms and holds me tight.

I wrap my arms around him and hold him until he is ready to let me go. It took a while, but I didn't mind. When he finally pulls away from me, he looks up and says, "I'm not calling him brother."

Diana smiles as she looks at the cover of a Gotham City newspaper showing (Name) and Bruce attending a charity event with all Bruce's sons and Connor. Thankfully, Bruce had been smart and came clean to (Name) and they had grown from that. Diana was happy that (Name) had finally found where she belonged. She belonged with Bruce and their boys. She was happy.

"What are you reading?" Diana hears Clark ask.

"The Gotham city paper." Diana answers honestly as she sets it down on the table.

"Anything good?" Clark asks and Diana smirks.

"There was an interesting article on the front page." Diana answers as she stands and moves over to the fridge to grab her a bottle of water.

"Oh really?" Clark says as he reaches out and grabs the paper.

Diana turns back to look at Clark right as he sees the picture. His brow furrows and Diana can tell he's angry.

"What the hell is this?" Clarks questions and Diana smirks.

"It would seem (Name) has found where she belongs." Diana replies honestly.

"Why didn't he say anything to me?" Clark asks anger radiating off him.

"Because their relationship is none of your business." Diana answers. "You know what you did to her. You do not deserve an explanation from either of them." And with that Diana left Clark alone.

Diana had spoken to (Name) recently and learned the truth of what had happened between her friend and Clark. (Name) was her family. Anyone who hurt her would also feel the Amazonian woman's wrath. Diana grabs her phone and sends a quick text to Bruce telling him that Clark knew. What the Bat did now was between him and Clark.

She had done her part.
