Everyone was laughing,
And we were spinning round and round,
The musicians were playing,
And we drowned in their sound.
And somehow all I could see,
Was the way your eyes glowed,
And the beating of the drum,
Echoed the heart you borrowed.
And it was like we were dancing on moonlight,
Nothing else mattered for now,
As ladies curtsied to their partners,
And the men took a bow.
Your hand on my waist,
The smell of smoke in the air,
A smile on your face,
A crown of flowers in my hair.
The stars up above were dancing too,
As if they knew it was a happy night,
But my eyes were only on you,
A soft glow on us from the light.
And then I heard a gasp,
As we felt the first warm drop,
But the music kept playing in the spring rain,
You laughed; and I wished it would never stop.
