Once, Not Long Ago

Once, when we were kids,
You lied straight to my face,
Said it was yours,
Never put out of place.
I didn't believe you,
Because you had lied before,
Once there is one lie,
There will always be more.

Once, when we were kids,
We danced out in the rain,
Pretending to be fairies,
Princesses in reign.
Now I'll never forget,
Even though other things I do,
Because I've always been unsure,
But that day I felt so happy with you.

Now, not long ago,
You lied to stop the bleeding,
You said you were okay,
But I knew what you were needing.
You lied to everyone else as well,
Trust me, it wasn't the only time,
But I could see right through,
You've never been just fine.

Now, not long ago,
We sang as loud as we could,
That one song you sing so well,
Although you never would.
You like to think the worst,
That you're always the last one,
You might think that you're boring,
But being with you is so much fun.

Once, when we were kids,
And now, not long ago,
I've always known the truth,
Seen what doesn't show.
You always wear a smile,
Whether fake or true,
You've become so good at lying,
Be glad I won't believe you.
