Do You Love Me?

If you were to ask,
Do I love you?
Would you wait in anticipation,
Ready to say "I love you too?"
Would you dread the answer,
To something you've known all along,
And would you keep on praying,
That maybe you've been wrong?
Or would you hardly care,
And walk away when I hesitate,
Because I am a simple thing to you,
Not really worth the wait.
Not that you'll ever ask,
About something so clear to see,
But my answer is "I love you,

But do you love me?"
