Night and Day

A single albino girl, sitting lone on a swing. Her clothes of pure white, her eyes of blood red. She wore no shoes, she spoke no words. Her eyes simply on the cold dirt floor. Her hair fell down her back, tossed and curled but not a mess. She didn’t swing, sway or turn. She remained motionless in her own little world.

A small boy also alone, with a ball appeared. He had jet black hair and piercing blue eyes. His clothes bathed in black. He wore no shoes but he smiled and ran a hand threw his hair. “Light! Don’t be so sad. Come and play!” He would say. Slowly the girl would raise her head, her hands gripping the chains so tight.

“Play? I can’t. I don’t know how.” She said with a sad frown.

“You say that every day. Stand up, lets play!” He begged before tossing her the ball.

“N-No! You know the rules, Dark! We aren’t allowed to do that. We aren’t supposed to mix. Horrible things happen when twilight comes…” She said ever so quietly.

“Then how can I make the night? The night cannot be sad. The days cannot either. What happened to your beautiful eyes? Light, don’t you see. You need to play then to rest. Twilight will transition. It cannot remain day forever.” He spoke softly and happily. He then let his smile fade to a frown. “…Don’t be so foolish light. Come on, get up.. lets play.” He could say. A clang came from his mouth. A sound of metal hitting his teeth.  Close inspection showed that upon his face were a single set of spider bites. Upon his ears were many piercings. The boy didn’t look like the best person to be around at all, yet his voice was so calm and playful.

“STOP! NO! I CAN’T!” The girl yelled. She sighed, her eyes glued back on the dirt ground. “…The day cannot end just yet…” Her lips curled up into a twisted smile, her teeth could finally be seen. Sharp like razors, but white as ever. The angel’s voice was harsh. The boy ran up to her side.  He gently grabbed at her arm and gave her a light tug.

“No! You’re never like this!” He cried. “What’s going on? What would make you act so cold. You always give in and let the night come, what makes now any different?!” He stomped and growled. His eyes burning with fear deep within.

“It’s always the same Dark. Don’t you realize it. It’s the same every day. I come out and sit alone and then you come along. Then we play and I leave for you to sit alone. It’s always the same. Why not a change?” She let out a laugh that could make one’s skin crawl.

“Be…Because! It’s what our destiny is. It is what we were meant to do. Now… lets go.” He gave her another tug though she wouldn’t seem to budge.

The world never really does sleep now does it? Humans running freely and carelessly. They don’t notice the difference between night and day. They don’t notice how things change. Lonely, broken, Light and Dark. Their routine always seems to change. Day becomes longer as Light grows dimmer. Night becomes longer as Dark grows brighter. Do you see? No you probably don’t. There is always darkness… After all. The most beautiful angel had become the devil.
