Harper's POV

I glanced at my phone , 6:45 AM. I didn't have to be up for another hour but my mind wouldn't let me sleep. All weekend this new job had been at the forefront of my mind , working at Opal was one thing but working for a company of the scale was something completely different. There were so many things that could go wrong , the main one being loosing Angelo's trust. I wanted him to know that what he had told me meant something to me and I was determined not to let him down.

20 minutes later and I knew I wasn't getting back to sleep so I decided that getting up was the most productive thing to do. I walked over to my wardrobe and opened the side with all of my new work clothes , the morning after my last shift at Opal I took a trip into town and bought myself an array of different skirts , blouses and heels and I even splashed out on a black Armani handbag that I now classed as my prize possession. I could re-invent myself here and the whole idea of people not knowing I was a high school nobody made me smile , I'd no longer be known as Harper Dawson school nerd and recluse , I'll be Harper Dawson glamorous PA to Mr Angelo Deluca.

I chose a silky white blouse and paired it with a black pencil skirt that ended a few inches above my knee and decided that my black Louis Vuitton heels would be perfect for my first day in the office. After I was pleased with the outfit, I had picked out I gave my phone a quick check, and it was only 7:15, so I decided to reward myself with a long hot shower. The hot water felt amazing against my skin and the fact that I didn't have to rush made everything so much better, I usually hated early mornings but what I had realised was that I could get so much more done without rushing about.

Half an hour later I was thoroughly relaxed from my shower and in the process of beginning to tame my hair , another plus side of waking up early was having enough time to make myself presentable , maybe I should've gotten up early for school and showed up looking less like something that's been dragged through a head backwards. Maybe then I wouldn't have been treated like a social leper. After another 10 minutes of some serious brushing and blow drying my hair was dry and for once didn't look like a rats nest.

It didn't take me long to get ready , after straitening my hair and applying some light makeup I looked at my reflection and for once I liked what I saw. I looked sophisticated , I looked like somebody that belongs in a company like Angelo's. Grabbing my glasses and slipping them on I made my way downstairs to hopefully get a coffee or two in my system before Angelo came to pick me up for work.

At 8:45, my phone vibrated, it was Angelo, and I smiled instantly.

Shouldn't be too long

How are you feeling about today?

I'm actually really

Excited , I've been up since

6:45. See you soon

Pouring myself another cup of coffee I made my way into the living room to sit with my nan till Angelo arrives. "Morning nan"

"Good morning love , you look beautiful sweetheart. I'm so proud of you , going from McDonalds to such a large corporate company it's outstanding. Your parents would be so proud of you."

"I hope so", I wanted to tell her how grateful I was for everything she did for me. I couldn't get my words out, and if I started I was scared that the waterworks would start, and I wouldn't be able to stop, and I didn't have time to re-do my makeup.

" I should be home at around half past 5 , I won't miss those late night shifts"

" I'll make sure dinners on the table when you get home dear , make sure you don't push yourself too hard." My phone buzzed , this was it my first day as Angelo's PA.

"I've got to go, nan , I love you, and I'll see you later." Giving her a quick kiss on the cheek, I made my way out of the house and towards Angelo's limo.

"Good morning sir" I was overly confidant this morning and I took the opportunity to start one of mine and Angelo's little games.

"Miss Dawson , are you ready for your first day?" his voice was level and smooth and he looked at me directly in the eye as he spoke to me , I hoped to god that I wasn't blushing because the temperature in the back of this limo felt like it had risen a few degrees.

" I was born ready Mr Deluca , I'm sure you'll find that out when you put me to work" I held my gaze , making sure my eyes stayed locked to his. I smirked at him , the both of us determined not to look away first. "You seem happy this morning , seeing as you've been up since the crack of dawn"

"Yeah I feel amazing , I'm off to my new job. Only down side is apparently my new boss is a total dick" I tried to keep the grin I could feel creeping onto my face.

"You're on top form today aren't you" Angelo glanced down at his watch " and it's not even 9 o'clock"

"What can I say , today is a new day. And I may or may not have had 2 large cups of coffee with more sugar than necessary."

" Speaking of coffee , I knew that you had an obsession for the stuff so I put a coffee machine in your office." I was speechless , he had a coffee machine put inside of my new office just because I liked it , the man clearly had more money than sense.

The car fell silent and I found myself playing with my necklace. It was something I did when I was bored or deep in thought. "You're wearing your necklace?" Angelo's voice was barely above a whisper but his eyes were locked onto my hand that I was holding the chain with. "I never take it off , I feel strange when I don't have it on."

His eyes stayed trained on my hand for a moment longer before he spoke again.

"We'll be arriving in a minute and remember you've got nothing to worry about, most of the time you will be twiddling your thumbs, but I've got some up and coming projects coming up that I'd like your opinion on. I'll keep the doors between our offices open, so if I need you, I'll give you a shout."

He reached over and gave my hand a small squeeze , the warmth of his hand caused goose bumps to appear on my skin. Thank god for long-sleeved blouses. I took a deep breath and cleared my head , this was my first proper job. Something I could make a career out of and I wasn't going to mess this up , I was going to be the best PA that has ever graced the planet.

Moments later, the car stopped outside of one of the most intimidating buildings I had ever laid eyes on. It was a giant building made wholly made out of glass and grey steel, it was beautiful and very Angelo. Both he and the building had that same air of dominance around them that commanded the attention of everyone and everything around them. I doubt even the most exhausted of birds land on this building to rest.

"Are you ready?"

I took a deep breath and composed myself "As I'll ever be" I gave him a reassuring smile as we both got out of the limo and made our way to the entrance of the building.

I was officially ¾ of the way through my first day and it was safe to say that I was in love with my new job. I had spent the first hour going through how to set out Angelo's day to day calendar and list of meeting along with how to correctly take down information from companies that want to organise a meeting with him along with any other messages that are left for him. I was currently sat in one of the office chairs in Angelo's office listening to him talk about the new hotel he was about to start building , he was extremely happy now that the materials had been delivered to contractors.

"So, Harper , what do you think? I want this hotel to start of a new chain that I can build up all over the world , I already have a few different hotels in France and Italy but I'm thinking about the bigger picture. I want to branch out I was thinking Las Vega's and Hollywood. But it's all going to be based on how this one hotel does and whether it makes us enough profit in the first year."

He pushes over a stack of papers and I start to skim through them. I was shocked this hotel was going to be huge , 800 rooms spread out over 25 floors and that wasn't including the penthouse that was one of the most glamorous and expensive rooms I had ever seen and that was only the design brief.

There was going to be a total of 3 swimming pools with one private one for the user of the penthouse, underground parking and every room was going to be decked out with only the best mod cons.

"Angelo , I'm gob smacked. It's beautiful , I love the design work that's gone into it. The white marble is really going to make a statement. What are you going to call it?"

" The Angel, I thought it would go with the colour scheme of the whole place, seeing as the majority of the hotels' going to be made from predominantly white marble."

" That sounds perfect , when does construction start?"

" In a few days, I'll need you to accompany me to the building site. And if you feel comfortable enough I'd like you to help oversee the interior design process; I trust that you'll make sure everything is of the highest standard."

"Of course sir , I won't let you down I promise." Calling Angelo sir was going to take some getting used to but I was over the moon that I'd get to help with the interior of this hotel , he must really trust me.

Angelo Deluca's POV

It was only her first day and it was like she owned the place , I had sat there and listened to her answering the phone in her office for what felt like hours. The way her voice floated through the open door made my head spin.

I didn't know how I had gotten so lucky to have this girl in the opposite office to me , I knew It was a long shot to ask her to come and work for me but for some reason it worked. I watched as her eyes lit up this morning as she saw her office for the first time , it was like seeing a child in a sweet shop for the first time.

The only downside to have Harper working here was that we both had to act like we didn't know each other , I had already told both of my receptionists along with the board members that my new PA was the daughter of one of my father's old business partners , thankfully they didn't ask to many questions. I knew Harper working here was going to be a distraction but I honestly couldn't give a shit.

The thought of her working for someone else made my blood boil , I'd never been a jealous person but with Harper it was a different person. She brought out the possessive side of me , the way those other men stared at her back at Opal and practically undressed her with their eyes drove me damn near insane , but now I had her here with me and I'd be damned if I'd let anything bad happen to her.

The phone rang in Harper's office and she jumped out of her chair to go and answer it. I'll give it to her , the girl was an amazing worker and despite my motives on getting her here I knew she would be a perfect addition to the company. Glancing at my watch and it was a few minutes to 5 , thankfully I had gotten a few things done today , even though I had spent most of the day listening to Harper on the phone I had been somewhat productive.

"Okay Mr Black , I'll be sure to pass the message on." Please for the love of god let that not be the Mr Black who fathered the spawn of Satan that continued to piss me off on a daily basis.

"Angelo , a Mr Black called. He wants to know if you can fit him in for a lunch time meeting sometime this week. He said it was important , something regarding a breakdown in communication , he was very adamant on seeing you this week."

"Call him back in the morning and tell him I'm free tomorrow lunch time and if he says he can't make it make it clear to him that he won't get another meeting with me. So if what he has to say is important he'll make time."

I grabbed my phone off the desk and slipped it into my jacket pocket and made my way over to Harper's office door. "You ready? it's just gone 5."

"Yeah , let me just grab my phone and my bag and we can go." The smile on her face was mesmerising I just hoped she would be happy here.

"So Miss Dawson, how did you find your first day?" we were back in the limo, and it looked like our little game had resumed. " I found it extremely fulfilling, and I also learnt a few things today."

" What would they be Miss Dawson, enlighten me."

" I learnt that my boss wasn't in fact a total dick , he's actually quite an intelligent man who really knows his stuff."

I couldn't help but laugh, and by the time we reached her house 10 minutes later, we were both exhausted from laughing for the whole journey.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Angelo; I did enjoy my first day. I know you don't want to hear it, but I am grateful for this opportunity, I promise I'll make you proud."

I watched as she left the limo and made her way up the path and towards the house, and once she disappeared inside an overwhelming sense of longing made its home in my brain. My self-control was starting to wain, and I wasn't sure how long I was going to be able to keep my hands off her.
