Day Two (5)
Danica quickly scrambled to her feet.
"Don't you dare touch them," she warned him, looking straight into his eyes that symbolised a black hole.
"Don't worry, darling, it's you I've come for." With that, he pushed the spear in her direction, but she dodged it before it stabbed her. He continued trying to stab her until finally Danny clutched onto the spear and pulled viciously, catching him off-guard and making him drop the spear.
"Now listen here, you, get lost before I shove this in your throat, got it?" He laughed.
"Wow, when I first saw you I thought you were just like all the other humans. No wonder Aarialla was all over you."
"I'm sorry, have we met?"
"In the forest, we even had eye contact and then while you were drugged by Aarialla. I thought you'd remember because of the scar." Finally, Danica caught on to what he was doing.
"If you think destructing me is going to make it easy to kill me, you are wrong."
"Oh, I know that's not going to work but it got your eyes off the boys." Her eyes widened as she looked back at the boys. To her surprise, they were perfectly fine. Then she realised. He was still playing with her.
"STOP IT!" she shouted, waking the boys. "Just stop! I warned you once and I'm certainly not going to warn you again!" She swung the spear up at him but missed his neck. Instead, she scratched him. It was a deep and long scratch, running from where his right eyebrow should be, through his eye, curved before his ear and ended by his mouth. He screamed as he winced in pain.
"You will regret this!" He yelled before running away. Danica inhaled greedy amounts of air, as she let herself fall onto the ground. She could hear the boys' voices calling her, but she couldn't move. She was the reason the man she saw whilst drugged has an eyepatch and a scar. She was the reason he looked like that. But does that mean everything she had seen was yet to happen?
"Are you okay?" Chris was the first to run up to her. "Did he hurt you?
"N-no," she responded as the boy helped her up.
"Why didn't you wake us up?"
"I handled it, okay? I'm fine. Let's just continue walking."
"Jisung, are you okay?" Changbin asked, causing everyone to look at him while he stared in the direction the alien had left in in utter fear.
"D-D-Dan?" He finally called, looking at her. "You just stood up to the aliens Emperor."
"What?" She asked. "He's the Emperor?"
"How weren't you scared?"
"This wasn't our first encounter. In fact, the scar I just gave him back there was pay back for this." She pulled up her sleeve revealing the scar.
"So, you weren't just scratched by a tree branch," Changbin asked to which she shook her head.
"You knew about this?" Chris practically shouted.
"She told me she was scratched by a tree!"
"And you believed her? Seriously, Changbin, do you really think a tree would make such a big scar?"
"Did you see the trees we were in?"
"Boys!" Danica yelled, earning their attention. "We still have a long way to go, you should go to sleep."
"After what we just witnessed, I think not," was Chris reply.
"I handled it, didn't I?"
"Yeah, but now the alien Emperor is after us, you especially."
"She's right," Jisung spoke up. "You should go to sleep, I'll be a look out." Chris eyed Jisung suspiciously. He could tell he was hiding something about the Emperor just didn't want to mention it. Instead, he turned to where Changbin had stood moments ago for help in protesting, only to find the boy already in his sand-bed.
With a sigh of both disbelief and defeat, Chris made his way to his sand-bed, laying down immediately and letting his exhaustion take over his anger.
"Go to sleep, Danica," Jisung told her, as he looked at the horizon and the moon that had risen from it only hours before.
"No," she answered simply as she took a seat beside him.
"Danica-"
"I know you're worried about me but just look at me and what happened back there. I found the alien Emperor and didn't get hurt whatsoever."
"That's not what I'm worried about..."
"Then what are you worried about?"
"The Emperor basically lives at the main UFO, if you are to fight him again, you need to be well rested."
"I'm not worried about some Emperor alien killing me-"
"The Emperor doesn't kill. He can't. And he wasn't going to kill you-"
"Are you serious? He even came with a spear! What do you mean he wasn't going to kill me?!"
"He was going to stab you," Jisung responded, exhaling deeply. "He wasn't going to kill you, just stab you to the point where you bleed, not to kill you."
"Why would he do that?" He sighed.
"So I would kill you." Her eyes widened.
"W-what? B-but human blood doesn't affect you, right? You even helped Changbin."
"I'm still an alien, Dan. Yes, it doesn't affect me as much, but I can only take so much until I start craving it as well," he explained as he sat down beside her.
Silence engulfed both of them for a while and although it was a comfortable silence, Danica decided to break it.
"About earlier on," she started, finally remembering what happened before the Emperor disrupted everything. Jisung chuckled in embarrassment as he rubbed his nape awkwardly. "You should show that side of yourself more often...it was nice." The boy's eyes widened as he looked at her, a smile threatening to break out across his face.
"Do you...really...think so?"
"Yep," she responded as she rested her head on his shoulder and shifting her body closer to him, causing him to tense up. She closed her eyes and inhaled his scent. "A girl has never done this to you before, am I right?" He chuckled as he placed an arm around her waist, allowing his body to relax.
"You're right," he answered before hearing her smile. "Has a guy ever done this to you?"
"No," she shook her head ever so slightly. "You're the first." He watched as she slowly fell asleep until she opened her eyes suddenly. He had meant to look elsewhere but his eyes wouldn't let him. Instead, they had eye contact. His heart was beating rapidly, and she smiled slightly, he knew she could feel it due to the tight grip she had across his torso.
"You should sleep," he tried once again to which she smiled.
"You too."
"I can't."
"Why not?" He smiled at her.
"My heart's keeping me up." She giggled, pulling closer to him and burying her face in his neck.
"Mine too."
