Day Two (3)
"You're a hybrid?!" Changbin asked merrily to which Jisung nodded in a smug manner.
"I know, I know. I'm awesome," the hybrid replied.
"It must suck to be you," Changbin continued, instantly changing Jisung's expression from a cocky expression to an annoyed one.
"I can kill right here, right now. Watch yourself," the half-alien said before walking off into some random room.
"This place is awesome," Danica uttered in awe as she examined every little detail of it.
"I'm glad you like it," Jisung responded as he came back with a first-aid box.
"What's that for?" Changbin asked as the boy approached him.
"Your wound. Now pull up your trousers," he responded, crouching down at Changbin's leg.
"How old are you, Jisung?" Chris asked, as he took a seat on a white couch, watching as the hybrid cleaned Changbin's wound and bandaged it.
"Seventeen, why?"
"Just wondering."
"How old are you guys?"
"Twenty."
"Eighteen," Changbin replied as he pulled his trousers back down.
"Sixteen," Danica was the last to respond as she was still mesmerised by the room.
"That's a weird combo. How did you guys find each other?" Jisung asked, sitting down on a couch on his own.
"Changbin and I were neighbours before the outbreak of Carsania," Chris answered. "And Dan's parents and my parents were very close friends, so I knew her since she was born. We've also been like siblings because of that." There was a prolonged awkward silence between them after that until Jisung broke it again.
"How did you guys manage to get here, anyway? Didn't you come across traps or something? How are you not dead?"
"We did come across a trap. It was a weird one to be honest, skeletons covered the road," Changbin responded.
"How did you pass it? Wasn't there human blood on the road."
"There was."
"Did you not step on it?"
"We did, well, Dan and I did but we wiped it off before the aliens could catch up to us." Jisung's gaze landed on the ground and he was silent for approxiametely ten seconds
"How did you know the aliens were after you?" His voice was quiet, shocking them. Even Danica stopped admiring the room.
"D-Dan..." was all Changbin could say. Jisung's gaze turned to the girl.
"I've met an alien before," she told him. "We were friends in fact. It's weird because she was much older than me. She even had a son. Her name was Ariana and when she died, she left a letter for me explain everything that might happen. She warned me about the aliens, the disease, the traps. She told me about them being attracted to human blood. She even gave me this." Danny took off the chain with the gem she had hid ever since the day she got it. No one ever knew she had it. She had kept it a secret. That explained Chris and Changbin's surprised reactions.
Jisung practically jumped out of his seat as he headed to her to see the gem.
"Oh. My. Goodness," he mumbled under his breath as he looked at it closely.
"What-What's wrong?" she asked. Suddenly, a smirk emerged on his face as he looked up at her.
"Are you willing to go on a trip?"
"What?"
"That alien you met, what did you do for her?"
"Nothing."
"You did something that made her grateful, what was it?"
"Well, on the night I met her, she was shot in her stomach and was coughing out blood so, I allowed her in the house and helped her stomach stop bleeding then I gave her a place to stay until the day she died. Now tell me what this has to do with the necklace." He smiled.
"Not the necklace. The gem."
"Tell me, Jisung."
"Alien you met believed you'd be able to save the alien planet. This gem you've been carrying is the heart and brain of the alien planet. If we can deliver this to the main alien UFO and place it on the stand, you can restore both the alien and human planet." Dan's eyes lit up.
"I can? Where's the main UFO?"
"Not that far, we can make it there in about a day, two if we decide to get some rest at night."
"Then let's go," she practically squealed.
"Isn't it dangerous?" Chris finally butted in.
"Very," Jisung responded, serious despite the wide grin on his face.
"Then we aren't going anywhere."
"Why not?" Danica asked, her excitement replaced with annoyance.
"Because I don't want you hurt."
"It's worth a shot, Chris."
"We talked about this literally couple of days ago."
"I can't believe you're being so unreasonable. We can save everyone."
"No, we can't, Dan! Everyone's already dead! We're the last of our kind. We can easily die along with them."
"I agree with Chris, it's too risky," Changbin stepped in.
"Are you forgetting we have an alien on our side?"
"A hybrid, Danny. He's only half alien."
"And that's all we need."
"No, all we need is for you to be safe. No one's going anywhere! End of discussion!" Chris shouted. Danica flipped.
"When will you finally accept I'm not the girl you want me to be? I'll never be that girl, Chris, so just forget it! Don't want to be a princess, I want to be a knight! Can't you just accept that?"
"When will you accept that some dreams are not meant to be fulfilled?! And maybe the reason behind that is because some things are just not supposed to be messed with. Maybe somethings are just impossible to change and disease impossible to cure! Don't you realise?! You're going to kill yourself trying to defy the impossible!"
"Well, at least I died trying." With that, she stormed to the elevator, pressed the top button and watched as the boys sprinted to her to stop her, but the door closed before they could. Danica was determined to do something to change the world and this time, no one would stop her. Not anymore. She wasn't afraid of the consequences or dying, she couldn't care less. Ariana trusted her, and she wasn't going to let her down.
